I would give this place no stars if I had the option. I was one of the vendors and the owner was not professional to the bride and groom during the event. The owner continued to walk around and complain about the caterers and tell the bride and groom what they couldn't do after the event was already well underway. It was raining at an outdoor venue and the owner tried to refuse the bride and groom to get married inside under a covering. I was there at 10:00am to set up and so were the bridal party. None of the venue staff showed up till 5:00pm. The way he continued to yell at the bride and groom was extremely unprofessional and unnecessary. We would agree on the ZERO stars rating. We were guests at the wedding held on Saturday night at this property. As 8.30 pm approached the owner of the property stated to the bride and groom that the wedding will end at 9 pm. There was a misunderstanding on end time per contract. Bride and Groom were more than willing to pay for extra time, handing owner money to extend. Owner texted Groom twenty mins later saying $700.00 wasn't enough, and it became $1259.00 for the hour. Furthermore, the Owner paced around and about the reception the whole night. Also, the weather was cold, wet, windy, and rainy the whole afternoon/ evening, so a tent was erected. To keep the event going until 10 PM, groom was forced to pay Owner extra money, as stated previously. At end of event, Owner became increasingly difficult and unprofessional to deal with, demanding Groom and Bride have everything cleared out of exterior shed and tents taken down, in the aforementioned less than favorable weather conditions. Owner also started an argument and dispute with the Bride and Bride's Father, on their wedding day. After observing this most unprofessional display of behavior of a business owner and how they treated a Bride, Groom, and their Family, on their biggest day, which they paid handsomely for, I would steer clear from this Owner and Location, as far as possible. Seems like he's fine taking your money, but not fine fully accommodating you on your BIGGEST Day ! read more

I am unsure where other truthful, negative reviews for this "venue" and or the owner have gone, and am unsure why anyone would have them removed as that does a disservice for anyone looking to rent this "venue" in the future. I cannot in good conscience ever recommend this venue for any future weddings or other important events and would give this "venue" and the owner zero stars if at all possible. I was the bride at this venue on April 12th, 2025, and I can go into full detail about why any future bride/groom should avoid the venue at all costs. However, I will simply say that the owner was beyond the point of unprofessional and went as far as causing a scene at our wedding and bad mouthing myself and the groom to our vendors. Not to mention, he paced around the venue all night, brought in two "security guards" that we weren't informed would be there, and made our guests (all local, adult professionals by the way) feel extremely uncomfortable. DO NOT have your wedding or any important event here. No bride or groom should ever feel the way we were made to feel during our wedding day /weekend. Like the others who were in attendance at a recent wedding this past Saturday 4/12, I too would rate this experience as 0, but unfortunately 1 is the lowest permissible. This venue is advertised as all purpose and all accommodating, it was anything but that. As the father of the bride I was there for the setup prior to the wedding and the break down afterwards. The owner of this venue, Steve Hegna,who acts as both the owner and event manager,clearly has no experience in this field. He was unaccommodating during setup,unprofessional and rude to the bride,groom and guests and failed to grasp the logistics involved in putting on an event as important as a wedding under perfect conditions,let alone inclement weather. He created numerous roadblocks leading up to the event by either being unavailable,refusing or grudgingly opening early for setup or not furnishing requested paperwork essential for setting up a large tent for the reception. I.e electric and water schematics. Throughout the reception the owner and his two friends who were acting as his "security" were seen walking around the reception area when they had no right to be there and were not mentioned in anyway by the owner previous to the event. These two along with the owner were engaging in verbal altercations with the bride and groom as well as other family and guests, seemingly to intimidate or instigate. The owner offered disparaging remarks about the bride and the groom to vendors before and during the reception by comparing the celebration to a "frat party" with no evidence to support his remarks. This was a well behaved group of guests enjoying themselves by dancing, eating and having a good time. The owner also took it upon himself to turn off the previously agreed and owner compliant heating sources during the reception which were needed due to the cold weather, without permission or even consulting the bride and groom. At the end of the night he demanded that the boathouse ,bar area be broken down immediately and everything which was brought in be removed within minutes of the reception being over, even going so far as turning the lights off to the area where the band was breaking their equipment down, creating a hazardous situation with no apparent regard for their safety. This was supposed to be the happiest day of my daughter's life to date, instead the owner created an experience which caused undue stress and upset for her and her husband. The owner or event manager of a wedding venue is supposed to address any problems before during and after an event and to make things easier for the bride and groom on their special day. Instead of solving the problems, he created the problems. I cannot in good conscience recommend this venue to anyone for anything but location, but ultimately the location is not enough to overcome the unprofessional and rude antics of the owner. read more
