I gave the school a call and this school was the only school that answered me with an actual person on the call (not some machine). The teacher over the phone was so informative and stated that I can visit the school. The tour was done the same week of calling and my son loved it. He didn't even want to leave. He felt so comfortable there even though he had never been out of our sights. I would recommend parents to give this preschool a chance! Every teacher had their own age they teach and a set curriculum. It was clear from the start what they do with the kids.

The school has helped bring out all the best in him, and the things he has accomplished, from beginning reading, to the emotional maturity he has gained, amazes me. Ms. Pedersen and Ms. Knight, along with all of the aides and assistants who have helped throughout the years, are nothing short of incredible. Their dedication, flexibility, and genuine love for what they do shines through every day. He loves how Ashley plays soccer with him, how Leslie teaches him different things and when Mayeli does projects with him and plays his favorite song. He also loves Chef Claudia's cooking. My son is excelling in Spanish and language, as well as other areas being only two years old. WK Delridge is a small center, but we consider than a plus because you get to know everyone and it feels more familiar and close than bigger centers. They communicate well and have helped us through family transitions and potty training. My son receives plenty of attention and care where some days he doesn't even want to leave! We are beyond happy with our decision to start at WK Delridge and look forward to our youngest being old enough to start going there too!

The classes are appropriately sized and more than adequately staffed with Montessori-trained guides & aides, and feature a full complement of beautiful wood, metal, and fabric Montessori-specific works arranged to allow curious minds instant access to meaningful, self-directed learning. The administrative staff is exceptional, led by a 20+ year veteran of both Pacific Crest Montessori & Northwest Montessori School. While transparently placing the student experience first (as they should), this administration takes great pains to accommodate the needs of parents by being respectful of the scant spare time available to most parents, and by reaching out to parents with lots of pertinent information & updates. The building itself is a high-security cruciform arrangement where toddler, primary, and elementary classes are housed in their own wings. It appears to be a former hospice or nursing home, the practical upshot of which is wide hallways and doors, bright sunny rooms, and lots of 'safety' hardware in common areas. The outside play areas are securely fenced (with locking, key-coded gates) and include play structures, gardening, and opportunities to get messy in real dirt in the time-honored tradition. The location is a quarter mile off WA-509 in Burien at 160th Street, just down the street from Highline Medical Center. We make the drive from Capitol Hill every day in 20 minutes. The location is also served by several bus lines from downtown Seattle (#131 & #121 pass 1/8 mi. to the east @ 160th & 1st; #123 1/8 mi. to the west @ 160th & 4th).

Each day I go to school, I am amazed by the love and ability of the teaching staff, class assistants and the support staff. Each one cares deeply for the children and it shows in all they do. I am also incredibly proud of our administration and board of directors. They have weathered many storms through the years well and led us through difficulties with wisdom, always putting the children and their care first.

I reached out to Zada via phone and told her I have a court does not allow Mom to do this and she said she does not care. When I went to pick up my child at her location she started berating me in front of my child and when I tried to provide her a copy of the court order she ripped it up in front of me and my child. Regardless of her personal thoughts it is highly unprofessional and inappropriate to behave in front of a child like this let alone when his father is standing there.

Our…read moreoldest has attended two different Seattle daycares previously, and we are so grateful to have finally found one we are happy with. The teachers all put in a tremendous amount of effort, and they obviously care for the children. It is also worth noting that the lowest paid staff member is now 15$/hr, which is way better than most. They have around 8 different classes, about half in the main building, and another four in portables. One of the portable class rooms is a half day pre-school, and the other three are for full time kids. Both our kids are in the full-time portable class rooms, so my review is mainly regarding those classes. All the teachers speak Spanish as their first language, and most speak English very clearly. The official policy is for the teachers to speak English in the morning and Spanish in the afternoon, although this is a bilingual school so that policy is pretty loose. There is a good mix of kids, some start here speaking only Spanish, and other only English (like our kids). The curriculum is great, I believe all the kids in the oldest class are well prepared for kindergarten. They have a great balance of free play, activities and lessons. They make the food in their own kitchen, and they post the menu for parents to see. It is of course well balanced and nutritious. There was definitely an adjustment period when we started, especially for our oldest, who was 4 and spoke no Spanish. He was a little frustrated at first, as he had never experienced being with people and not being able to understand what they are saying. He was not alone in this, as there are plenty of kids in the same situation, and plenty of kids who spoke little English. After a year, he still doesn't really speak Spanish, but he understands a fair amount, and is very interested in learning more. It is also worth noting that the class seems very well integrated. The teachers encourage the kids to be friends with all the kids in the class, and it seems to be working pretty well. The school is run out of a El Centro de la Raza, so there is a definite social justice flare here. The kids are occasionally taught about immigration and social justice/Latino concerns. This is of course done at a child's level, and I believe only happens in the oldest class, which is mainly 4 and 5 year olds. For example, my son came home talking about how some people have been taken away from their families (deported). This does not happen frequently at all, but just know that if your kids attend here, they will probably help make some big posters telling their politicians what to do. This all makes me love the school even more, but it may be a turn off for some families. Overall, we really like this place! There is nothing like knowing that your children are being well cared for.

The cost is very competitive with other daycares. I saw some very old bad reviews and had to add a new one. I will also note the leadership is new and the director, Ms. Nan, knows every child's name and is very warm and welcoming. They even have car seat storage for newborns who may need to be picked up in a different vehicle. Overall such a great choice. I think the higher Google rating is more in-line with reality.

When we began looking for a daycare in 2014 and we were met with many options but we went to this one because our first option was full. At this point we were not moving our kid because we saw the level of care and responsiveness that the teachers were giving them. Furthermore and most of all, the management team at this school were always available and open to any concerns we had and always resolved them when we engaged them. I will never forget looking at my wife and saying "The director here is amazing and that alone would be enough to keep our kid here!" I have two sons who both attended MLM for two years each. Before MLM both our sons attended other…read morewell-regarded pre-school programs elsewhere. However nothing before or since compares to MLM. The teachers there were and are dedicated, intelligent, creative and experienced in the Montessori method. Particular stand-outs during our tenure there were Connie and Reshonna, both of whom are long-time MLM teachers who are wise, loving, and great fun. The current director (Amy) came on board in my younger son's final year and she was an excellent addition to the team. They each knew my kids well and gave them lots of individual attention and communicated well with us about both the successes and challenges our kids were having. The community was excellent and a commitment to diversity and collaboration in our children's education was prized. The school is overseen by a parent run board and during our years with MLM (and before and after as we lived in the neighborhood, we have known many MLM families) I was always impressed by the dedication and hard work of the parents who contribute to the school. MLM was not cheap but it was worth it. The lessons our children learned there serve them to this day (as do the lessons we, as parents learned). Both my spouse and I served on the MLM parent board and on several committees over the years so I can speak from the "inside" as well as the "outside" viewpoint. MLM is a unique and wonderful place and we'll be forever grateful for the time our kids spent there. It's been a year and a half since our youngest son graduated and have since moved away but we treasure the memories of the MLM experience and recommend it highly for those parents who want their children to enter into the school experience in the Montessori method which, while perhaps not the best fit for every child was certainly an excellent choice for us.

The teachers come up with imaginative themes each week and the kids have a mix of structured and unstructured time. The teachers are fun, diverse and thoughtful disciplinarians. When school is closed, Kids Club is open for "camp" and they do extra fun activities, like hiring a magician, going on walking field trips, etc. Couldn't be happier with this organization!
