I've been to many doctors in my life but this was only my second surgery and I was terrified. Dr. Polla took his time with me explaining everything making sure I understood the procedure and telling me I'd be fine. He is so knowledgeable and has such a calming voice and a caring demeanor. In all honestly, you don't see that too often these days. He was the same during surgery talking me through everything he was doing adding that I was doing great. Dr. Polla recently performed two difficult cataract surgeries on me, and I would be remiss if I didn't post a review of the care he rendered. I don't think there are enough favorable superlatives in the English language to describe just how amazing he is. Competent, knowledgeable, meticulous, and caring are just the tip of the iceberg. He is a gifted surgeon and a compassionate human being. He has an easygoing demeanor but is serious about ensuring favorable outcomes for his patients. He has a unique ability to communicate so that his explanations and instructions are comprehensive and easy to follow. He addressed all of my concerns with much-needed reassurance. And ... he literally restored my vision. Last week, my 6yr old son needed to see an ophthalmologist ASAP. His pediatrician and his school were concerned about his sight especially his color vision. We found an ophthalmologist office in Midwood, even though they're called Brighton Eye Associates. I think its their 2nd office. When looking for a doctor, especially for my children, they have to fulfill 5 important standards. 1. Great doctor affiliated with Great Hospitals: (NYU & NY Ear & Eye Infirmary) check 2. Friendly Staff- We were greeted with 3 smiles. They were friendly, and they listened to my son's many many stories and questions. check 3. Easy booking & No or moderate amount of wait time- check- I used zoc doc but I think you can book on their website. The wait when we got there was just enough time to fill out the new patient forms. 4. All questions and concerns addressed, even the ones I called with later... check 5. My sons needs were addressed AND he liked them- He saw Dr. Babayeva and Dr. Fell CHECK! My son loved his "batman" glasses they used as they checked his sight. Oh by the way the office is really new and state of the art and they open on Sundays. We found our ophthalmologists! read more

Did not have a great experience here. An assistant -- not the doctor -- handled most of my appointment which I found inappropriate. They then put me in a room and seemed to have forgotten all about me for a long time until I reminded them. Then the doctor came in, harping about how terrible my insurance is and telling me to be careful to avoid eye infection to maintain proper hygiene. Brilliant! And, oh yes, at 40, I'm already a candidate for glaucoma. Um, probably not as my eyes are pretty perfect, but ok. I found her cold and uninviting. Sad thing is I have 2 older parents who might have considered using her. So she lost 3 potential patients in 1 visit. read more

Dirty, crowded, outdated equipment. An old Russian lady tech who does not know what she is doing and does not speak English, and yet they have her perform procedures that really only an O.D. should! I attempted to explain to her why I was there, but eventually gave up and asked to see a doctor. They dilate your pupils and make you wait for a doctor for AN HOUR in a brightly lit, tiny waiting room in extreme discomfort, just to have the doctor for some reason administer more dilation drops. Overall the whole place has a highly unprofessional feel. Very little communication from the doctor or courtesy from the staff. I would say that this is by far the worst medical establishment I've been to - the kind of place you might expect to find in the boons of some post-Soviet bloc nation. Stay away! read more
