We were looking for a place for my son to attend a school where he can prepare for the next couple…read moreof years before he starts kindergarten. We saw Brighton Montessori was close to us and decided to call up and see what they were all about. I got one price on the phone when I called, during our sons first week (after all the paperwork was signed) we were charged a different higher price (stating that the amount was calculated wrong) so, ok we let that go and decided to continue on. He was sick 3/4 times within the first 3 months, again ok he was getting used to a new environment. Then summer came and there was at least 2 lice outbreaks in different classrooms. Then the outside playground is under these giant oak trees which provides great shade for the kids but also brought oak mites. My sons legs and arms were covered in oak mite bites all summer even though they said they sprayed the trees to get rid of the mites. The facilities are average and the toys they provide the children to play with are probably as old as the parents of the children are. The school smells a bit musty and was probably converted to a daycare as opposed to being a building built for it. Then came the 3rd price change where our costs were raised again (keep in mind all within a years time) where they also wanted us to back pay the amount difference because it was again calculated incorrectly. This is where it really started to go downhill for my son and our relationship with this "school". My son is on the spectrum and has his challenges when it comes to listening and following directions (but he's also 4 and is learning to deal with his big emotions) at this point it appeared as though people around the facility seemed to have issues with my son being there and anything he did at the school was scrutinized. We were demanded that he was to be picked up early multiple times, one time he had been there for a total of 90 minutes before I was told I need to get him (usually for behaviors that he learned by being there around the other children). He cried every morning before school because he disliked going so much. I make no excuses for his behaviors some of which is his learning but when we were looking for a school we wanted one that would work with him and his faults and try to help reinforce positive behaviors and help us while we could not always be around (which they were more than happy to say that they would and did with kids with his similar profile). Instead the staff gave up on him and chose to expel him giving us 2 weeks to scramble and find new childcare while demanding he be picked up early on his second to last day and then told he was not allowed back on his last scheduled day (leaving us to take time off work to have him covered-this was all within a years time btw). During the last months they would give him timeouts and force him to do things that he did not want to do while not offering up any alternative solutions that worked, which just triggered him more to act out. It appeared to us that the term "school" should be used very loosely as most of the staff does not seem to have any kind of formal educational training as far as I could tell, the school is filled more with caregivers/babysitters as opposed to anyone I would call a teacher. As you can tell if you've read this far, I have a pretty strong opinion of the school and how they treated my son. I do think there are a few people there that truly do care and do not agree with how the business is ran but it is what it is at this point and my son is now out at another school. In summary my family and son's experience with this school is a 1 (bc it could not go lower) if you choose this school for your child care I truly hope they have a better experience than my son did, I just wanted to share my experiences we've had.

The teachers are all so kind and are always teaching the kids in a really fun way - even for the two year olds. We are really happy with this daycare!

After writing my previous review, I received a phone call the next day. This place is familiar…read morewith me because I've spoken about these concerns in the past and we've resolved them or brushed the issues some way or another. The Director called me and was very professional. She was concerned about the review, obviously. They check these things daily to make sure they are covering all their bases. Also, La Petite has higher ups that check on all the centers to make sure they are taking care of business as those policies were minded. She communicated that this flu Season has been especially bad, as it was told by the doctors and those that she spoke to regarding the outbreaks. She also communicated that they've taken serious measures after the issues this season regarding their cleanliness and the materials they use. They've switched to greener products, only using bleach on the serious surfaces. They've had someone come in and observe their routines to make sure they are following all the necessary guidelines. Some things are just out of their control and she predicts things will be different now that these changes have been made and we've come into a new Season. I'm torn between changing to another place and staying because with change comes transitions for the child. Getting to know new people and hoping she gets along with them the same as the other place. It's a very hard decision that we haven't quite swayed one way or the other. I will say, after speaking to Director, it helped tremendously and it eased many reservations I had regarding their acknowledgement of the situation. Before, when we mentioned these things about my daughter being sick. I felt somewhat brushed off, like it was normal or 'yeah it sucks, but what can you do?' kind of vibe, then we were still responsible for paying our chunk of change that we didn't have because we weren't working. there was one instance where they allowed us to pay for half of the amount when she had RSV. I feel if it was an especially hard Season, if these concerns were across the board, then some sort of communication to ease the parents could have been done sooner. I'm sure it's a lesson learned for the facility. Whatever our choice is, my overall experience has been more positive then negative, which is why I raised my rating.

Hi parents! We just…read moremoved to Parkville and prior to purchasing our home, we were on the hunt for a new provider for our 4 year old. Our kiddo is the youngest of two, so we have been through many daycares and providers in our time. To put a fine point on it, Wildflower is far and away the best provider we have found in our roughly 9 years of using multiple providers (and touring many more!) we were looking for something that takes the best of Montessori, but isn't so stuck in the Montessori world that kids aren't being taught to excel later in a more traditional education environment. Our son had attended a strict Montessori school prior and he tells us almost every day how much he *loves* school. They provide so many fun experiences to mix things up, aerial yoga, the KC zoo, the KC chiefs, and field trips to the bank and grocery stores--and all of that in just the last couple of months. Our son *adores* his teacher, and the environment does feel very much like a family. One that we're happy to be a part of. (I will note that I was not prompted to do a review, nor was I compensated in any way).

Update: Since Wildflower opened their new building, I've been thoroughly impressed with how the…read moreschool is managed and how it feels like a family; not just another stale academic environment. Even with the increased/full enrollment, the director and teachers are still focused on the children's well-being and able to provide a safe, fun and engaging place to learn and play. As a parent, I feel like there is open communication between my family, the director and my child's teachers. I understand that their wait list is extensive but I encourage any new families to still consider touring for future enrollment...it's worth the wait!

Then I met the staff at Metro Church Preschool and that went out the window. Metro is a smaller congregation on the corner of Brighton and 48th St. The Preschool and Daycare are a primarily family operation. My 5 year old daughter is not just ready for Kindergarten, she is above the curve and reading and managing at a second grade level and I attribute it to Miss Robin, the preschool teacher. Everytime I picked my daughter up these past few months I heard "We're going to miss her." Now a lot of places say this and they are being trite. Not the staff at Metro. They are deeply involved and take very great care and responsibility with each child in that building and they genuinely love every child. Now I have not used or gotten feedback on the infant care program, but if it is anything like the preschool, it has to be outstanding. If you work at Harrah's, North KC Hospital, Cerner, or anything in that area, Metro is just a 10 minute drive up the road and well worth it for your child's development. It is by far the best child development pregram I have encountered and I thank them whole heartedly for giving my little girl a running start on school.

The staff are super friendly and they update us with all the improvements our children are achieving. Our eldest is allergic to tons of food since he was diagnosed with G6PDD and he's also lactose intolerant. Beyond happy that Metro Church Academy was able to accommodate his special diet. They also teach well, seeing the improvement of our eldest child's knowledge with shapes, numbers, animals, letters and etc. They also send us a log sheet for my youngest that contains information like what and how much he ate, time and duration of his naps, potty changes, etc., everyday. Every morning, our kids wakes up excited to go to daycare and gets sad when we pick them up in the afternoon. The other kids are also friendly, they greet us and our kids as soon as we get there with 'good mornings' and they say "goodbye friend/s" to each other by the time we leave. My husband's employer is helping out with our childcare payments and Chris, who manages the academy was so helpful in communicating with the people in charge (in my husband's employers' side). They also gave us 15% discount since we have two children enrolled at the same time... Would recommend this daycare to other mommies/daddies. Additional info, we migrated here in the US last Dec. 2015 and our kids speaks a little english. They adjusted really well in daycare and our 3 year old learned to talk much faster than before..

I drive my youngest daughter there, kiss her goodbye, and leave. I've reviewed nearly a hundred businesses and not a single one of them carried the burden that Creative World carries. Not only am I ok with them taking care of my princess, I'm happy about it. I'm no newbie at this kid thing; my oldest was born in 1990, middle in 1999 and my youngest in 2008. My middle and youngest both went to Creative World in Liberty so I've had great feelings about them oh, since about 2004. There's the obvious; the place is very clean (kinda defies logic really, that everyday, a hundred or so kids are trying to trash the place), the teachers are kind, gentle, caring, and exceptionally talented. These are career caregivers, there are no amateurs here. And then there's the better than probably average; the kids are served hot meals (and they even cater to my daughter who's a vegetarian), they have a central area with copious amounts of learning stations. Learning is done in every form from digital games to scrap paper and crayons ( a seemingly endless supply of refrigerator fodder). There are normal hiccups here and there. There are kids that get sick and come precariously close to getting everyone else sick, the computer sign in system leaves a lot to be desired (but it does it's job), but for every other part, I don't have to worry that my daughter is well taken care of and really, that's worth more than any place could ever reasonably charge.
