The steak frites and the New York were both great and I would highly recommend them, but the burger gave one of the members in our party food poisoning so I would beware of that. The service was pretty quick considering how busy it was because of the concert happening near by that night. read more

Cute little hotel restaurant/sports bar that is located on the first floor of the Padre Hotel. The Brimstone Bar features a food menu of typical gastropub bites including pretzel bites, burgers, hot wings, calamari, etc. The server was huslin and bustlin since they were like one of two servers working the entire bar and I will always have respect for that. What I appreciated most was the ability to do laptops up at their community tables without any pushback. Very much appreciated! The woodsy decor was a nice touch and there's a few tvs to catch a game or two. read more

I came here with a couple of friends for drinks because the Shrek Rave event that we attended down at the Nile Theater was not the vibe. We were intrigued by the Padre because of its haunted rumors. I was hoping that some drinks would lift our spirits (no pun intended), but the night just got worse... There was a cockroach at the bar. As soon as I saw it, I immediately canceled my order. I was really hoping to enjoy a Peargatory or Peach Smash, but seeing that roach was DISGUSTING. The bar tender can be seen squishing it with a towel. Thanks for taking care of that ASAP I guess, but I can't stand bugs. At the end of the day, thanks for showing us the spooky hand prints of the little girl who haunts the hotel. IYKYK. read more

What a great place came here with some friends and my wife and had a great time on a Saturday afternoon. The food and the atmosphere was just perfect. The service is so friendly and nice. The food is fantastic. The tomato Barada salad the brimstone burger was great nice texture of crispiness from the fried jalapeños and the beef patties. Nice flavor and grill on it. I also had a brimstone old-fashioned cocktail and it was made perfect. I highly recommend this place for the downtown area. You can get a great steak at the Padre Hotel! I will say that flatiron was tender and delicious. And the truffle fries were outstanding. We also got the Blu Burger, which I thought was a great value, was cooked to order. And it's delicious as well. Good selection. Full service cocktails, great service. Brimstone Bar is the lobby bar in the iconic Padre Hotel located in downtown Bakersfield. This hotel is filled with juicy paranormal lore. Too afraid to stay overnight, but still want to experience the hotel- try out the bar. The bar is open day and night. We came for drinks only while waiting for a reservation at Luigis, but they also serve bar bites. They have high tops, tables and bar seats with a number of tvs over the bar. The bartender was lovely and you could tell that she loved crafting a good cocktail! I was initially thinking I'd order some wine, but I could tell she'd make something great so I went with something a little more fun. I ordered an aperol spritz, per her suggestion, because she made it with fresh oranges. She also made our group great old fashions and an espresso martini! The bar was quiet on a Saturday afternoon, but I've seen it a little more lively during the evening. It's a great spot to grab a drink or to spend some time if you're a hotel guest. read more

This is a gem attached to the Padre Hotel. Interesting name since it is attached to a building that burned. It was pleasant and we were able to have a conversation without overpowering noise. My steak was prepared perfectly. I believe it was just the right amount of spice. Triple fries were crisp. I loved the chimichurri sauce included. The server Tamara was absolutely wonderful. She was working alone and did such a fabulous job with our service, she even made recommendations for us to try. The food was delicious, fresh, and not greasy. The shrimp was not chewy and was cooked beautifully. All the food was well prepared and served as soon as it was ready. The only complaint we had was a groups of girls literally yelling and screaming laughing. It was so loud it hurt my ears. I know that has nothing to do with the place but I'm assuming this is a place to bring friends and drink. With that said the peach drink was one of the best drinks I have had in a long time. This is a great place to come hang out with friends or coworkers after hours. From the review of my friend's discussion the dinks are great. The bartender was also super cool. The food for me was lacking a bit. I think I got the rattle snake fries. The menu talks about the fries having some kind of sauce on them....its ranch dressing..... I tried to eat it but the ranch and fries had my stomach a little messed up. The service was cool, its was kind of a ghost town when we went but the food still took a while to come out. Went on my lunch break to purchase a personal size pepperoni pizza. I was charged for a meat lovers instead and they stated it was their managers new protocol. We stopped by here on a whim while we were downtown. There was available parking. I ordered a Caesar Salad with chicken. It was good. The seasoning was good. But it was all room temperature, and there was little to no parmesan. The croutons were delicious! My husband got the Fish and Chips, and after tasting it, I was jealous! The fish was really, really good! The fries I'd definitely recommend. The coleslaw was just purple cabbage with mayo and sugar. Not good. The atmosphere is good. I have stopped into the BB on several different occasions. I always find a great choice to make from their menu. If we are headed to the FOX for a concert, it is a great before and/or after place. Excellent drink choices and flavors. They are always well made. We always have excellent service. My last trip there was while I was on Jury Duty. The lunch breaks are often 1.5-2 hours long and BB is within walking distance. I had a great wedge salad and iced tea. The perfect lunch. BB makes you feel as if you are in a bar they would portray in a movie. It's very classic and always comfortable. The layout allows you to sit with just 1 other or groups. There is also bar seating. Did not eat inside the restaurant itself because we travel with our fur baby. Their outdoor patio, where we were we told was pet friendly, apppeared not to be open because the furniture and tables where stacked. As well as the heaters pushed into one corner. We did eat on the rooftop. (see our reviews for The Padre) . Nice outdoor seating with heaters. Food served there was prepared downstairs at the Brimstone. Both parties had burgers and fries. One with regular fries and othe with truffle upgrade. Would we do the truffle up grade again, probably not worth it. Burgers where great. read more

Our office frequents the landmark Padre Hotel often, as we are just down the street, so I've held off on reviewing just because it's a staple for us. My favorite item is the Chicken Pesto Panini although I've had their burgers, the grilled cheese and tomato soup and others. Every item that I've had was good, flavorful and of course, hot. Their truffle fries are my favorite, I typically get them with every dish. Their service is pretty quick, you don't wait long for a server to take your order and food usually comes out pretty quick unless it is a busy day -- lunch usually is busy. Brimstone itself is an awesome place, the decor is almost like an upscale cigar bar, it's very mid century modern and somewhat grand. They are in the expensive side but definitely worth the try. read more

I enjoyed my experience here. There's no parking lot, which is something that I would not have liked if k were driving since I do not like parallel parking. But luckily I wasn't driving. And there were spots on the street to park that did not have a meter. The ambiance was fine. What you'd expect from a bar. But I would say the food was better than the average bar food. This was just sweet enough to tickle my sweet tooth and 1 of these had me feeling pretty good. Yes please, I'll have another. Because we skipped breakfast we opted to share a pizzaetta, portobello mushroom with prosciutto. Apparently I'm not a fan of prosciutto so I picked it off. The pizzaetta otherwise, was wonderful. The crust was not over cooked and the mushrooms were cooked perfectly. The cheese combination was rich and delicious. While the brunch menu was discontinued some time ago, we delighted in some all-day items at this happy visit. Our server Hanan was friendly and helpful, and she offered terrific advice for how our small group could better share Mimosa Flights with purées and bottles instead of only pre-mixed drinks. That turned out to be a lot of fun! For an appetizer, the Cauliflower Fritter was a welcome surprise and looked like a richer version of a well-seasoned hash brown at first, but while light and fluffy in texture, it was positively drenched in flavor. I already like cauliflower as a backdrop or a side, but I've never loved it this much! Highly recommended starter. The Chicken Pesto Panini sounded too good to pass up, with its roasted red pepper, mozzarella, and garlic aioli (it comes with red onion, too, but the others sold me on trying it today). No regrets! My wife tasted it as well and can't wait to have one of her own next time! We had so much good food at our table that we brought some home for later, and we all had a marvelous experience. read more

Had a great time at Brimstone Bar the other night. Everything was really good, and the atmosphere was lively and fun. My favorite was actually the bbq pizza, it was skimpy on the chicken, but the flavors and texture was so good! The onion rings were also underrated, crispy and nicely breaded. When we first got the salad, I was thinking "$15 for this?!", but it was very fresh and like everything else, quite tasty. The burger was the item I was most excited to try. Unfortunately, they didn't have the bison burger, as they were running a limited menu due to hosting holiday parties. The padre cheeseburger was good, the sauce reminded me of a Big Mac. It was good, but I don't think I'd order it again. Service was also excellent. Attentive and friendly. We enjoyed ourselves so much, we actually went back the next day for brunch!
