Our cottage was near the golf course, and just above it was the main thoroughfare where the kangaroos would pass through to get water. We had birds and kangaroos right outside and we loved having wall to wall windows so we could see all the wildlife outside. The cottage was kitted out with everything we needed and a SPA BATH! Dr. Tim gave some fantastic insights into Generative AI and how it is shaping thought processes, and how it could conceivably brainwash society and also over peoples views, swinging to the left and swinging into the right, and how we are influenced by Gen AI and artificial intelligence. When really we should not. This venue is under utilised and is perfect for presentations in the heart of Melbourne.

No restaurant affiliated with the hotel but there are tons of places to eat in the surrounding blocks. Had many first class meals within walking distance. The free tram runs by here. The concierge were friendly and helpful, with a good knowledge of the nearby areas to direct you to whatever you might need. The room, however, does leave a little to be desired. You know how hotels push single beds together to make a double bed? It's never quite as good as a proper bed, but it's even worse when the two mattresses are different heights, forcing you to sleep on one side or the other, effectively making it a single bed. The pillows are also massive with little give, making a comfortable sleep a bit tricky. That coupled with the giant LED billboard flashing ads for Pepsi in my window all night left me feeling less than fully rejuvenated when I woke, with an inexplicable craving for an icy cold, refreshing bottle of Pepsi. The size of the room is great, with tables and couches and two TVs, but I was unable to get the aircon to be responsive, leaving me consistently shivering at 19 degrees. The kitchen was a bit rough though, with a tacky fit out and only one cup. Also with no mini bar or cold water, and the closest bottle shop a fair hike away, you'd might want to come prepared if you feel like a tipple. For the price and location though, it's definitely a good place to stay, and unless you're looking to splash out even more on somewhere 5 stars, you'd be hard pressed to find a much more suitable place.

Next best thing to be told I had been upgraded. Music to my ears. I already had what I considered a great price for a studio apartment room. I guess I hadn't looked at what I was getting... Cause I was surprised to have a fully functional kitchen and also a washing machine and dryer. First things first... I jumped on the bed. I knew I was gonna sleep well tonight!! :) Secondly.... What can I see from my window? A balcony with chairs and table..score! But then one of the best views I have had of the city in awhile. Could hardly tear myself away. The clouds moving through the taller buildings and the city lights dancing across them. Almost magical. I didn't get to try everything the building offered. But my stay was 5 star. Even if they don't have a pool... I wasn't going to just sit around when there are places on my door step to discover. Other benefits were the Flagstaff train station was practically at my door. And the trams I needed to catch are part of the city circle, so a free ride if I didn't want to walk. Staff kindly took my bags after checkout so I could further explore. I'm a happy man!!

There were two cute end tables, closets for clothes and a small locker for each person. The beds did seem a little more squeaky and a little less sturdy but this didn't bother me much. This whole place is super endearing and personable unlike some of the other sterile, impersonal hostels. It's located in Fitzroy which is the more artsy, quirky neighborhood and one of my favorite areas of Melbourne. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. Definitely wish I had booked more than one night here!

Just because this used to be the abode of sisterhood and chastity over 100 years ago, don't go expecting this today though. The Nunnery is after all a hostel, and has everything a hostel should have. Boozy British emigrants, over-friendly German backpackers and everything in-between. But what sets this place beyond the average hostel - apart it's ideal location, is the beautiful building it occupies. It really has to be seen to be appreciated. With a price range between $30 a night for large shared rooms to $115 for deluxe private rooms there are options for all budgets. And they do cheaper prices for those who are staying longer than a few nights. These prices also include a free breakfast if you can stay away from the many Fitzroy cafes long enough.

The trains and trams are color coordinated and very easy to navigate for the novice. Chapel street is a block away and has at least 3 kilometers of shops, bars and eateries. District South Yarra is a great choice for anyone!

They also don't know how to give service and seemed really nice but incompetent. Theres also construction going on right by the hotel which wasnt so much loud but just inconvenient for being picked up and dropped off. There was some bin of bottles outside my window that I could hear them dumping bottles from either the hotel or the restaurant nearby at like midnight so I didnt sleep well either. Overall a disappointing visit.
