Brisbane GPO occupies a nice old building and (theoretically) provides a large range of services....
But: the queues are extremely long, especially at workday lunchtime. Allow at least half an hour to get to the counter. The staff also varies drastically, from polite and helpful to downright rude and clueless.
A few times Brisbane GPO staff make mistakes or provided incorrect information, which cost me extra time and money, and I had to make another trip to a different post office to fix their errors.
On several occasions I witnessed or was the subject of rudeness, bullying and inappropriate behaviour from GPO staff, each time from mature female employees. Not sure whether that was bad luck, or some toxic culture within this GPO makes older females feel the need to assert themselves or vent their frustration by bullying younger customers.
Considering that for some services like PO boxes GPO charges nearly twice the price compared to a normal post office, from now on I will rather support my local post office where I am always treated well and never had to deal with mistakes made by the staff. The convenience of central city location of this GPO is not worth the chance of facing another error or unpleasant human interaction. read more
