I love the Rocklea Marketst!!
I come here to go haunting for cool quirky finds and I also come here to sell some secondhand stuff. It's a great way to make a quick couple of dollars out of your preloved items.
If you get a stall at the Rocklea Markets, you are required to arrive between 4:30am-5:00am. Oh goodness, it's so painful waking up so early! However, once you're on your way, you'll find that the sunrise is so beautiful surrounding Rocklea. A pretty site always makes things a little more worthwhile.
When you get there, you line up in your car and patiently wait till you get to the payment booth. Currently the price is $35 for a stall (7 x 3 m), I think the price increased recently due to Christmas trading, but if you're confident you can make that back, then it's worth giving it a shot.
There are a variety of cool things to find at this market, fresh produce, international cuisine, plants, peoples second-hand goods, toys, jewellery, clothing/shoes, hand-made crafts, pet accessories, homewares and a whole lot more.
There are several rows you can meander through and plenty of stalls to check out. It's open to the public from 6am to 12noon, but I would strongly suggest coming here as early as possible as you get the best of the choices. If you do, however, leave the shopping right towards 12pm, you'll find that some prices get reduced drastically- to push for more sales. So if you want the choice, come early. You want the heavily discounted products, shop later.
A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon and find last minute pressies for Christmas! read more
