The shop itself is gorgeous, with young and beautiful staff to match. There's a mixture of things to browse from armchairs, to jeweled sandals, to fabrics, to ornaments and statement pieces for the home. Given that it's located on ritzy James Street, I assumed that the prices would be higher, but they're actually quite reasonable. I would very happily add many a St Barts piece to my home and will be back soon to see what else they have to offer. The shop is brand new and has yet to build a hype surrounding its existence. From what I saw in store, it will only be a matter of time before St Barts has a steady following.

A new shop always seems so promising and adds a nice freshness to shopping areas that you already know inside out. I actually just came across St Barts on the weekend when I was on my way to Harveys and couldn't resist a peek. St Barts sells clothes, accessories, and homewares and their style seems quite eclectic. They had some lovely cushions and cute accessories, and I got the impression that they're still in the process of fully stocking their shop so I'll look forward to poking my nose back in there in a few weeks to see what it's like when they get fully into the swing of things. The prices are a little bit lower than I would have expected based on St Barts's location and exterior so that was a nice surprise. I exchanged a quick hello with the sales assistant and then she left me to browse which I always appreciate, especially in areas like James street where a lot of the stores seem to employ hoverers. It is interesting to see a few fresh storefronts on James street and this is one of them. St Barts is only young yet, and I'm excited to see what it'll grow into!

The warping chipboards on their book shelves and flimsy mattresses on the bed frames make me suspect their durability. On the plus side, the Macgregor showrooms are huge. There's one big shed dedicated to outdoor furnishings, another shed for office and a third shed for indoor lounge/ dining. The first time I came here, I didn't appreciate the distance between the showrooms. By the time I walked to the third shed (in the midday sun), I was dehydrated. Points go to their excellent vending machine facilities in the third shed. Perhaps they've had too many customers faint while walking the length of their showroom. For future reference, it's much better to drive you car around to park at the specific shed you are after. Super A-mart is worth checking out during the sales if you are looking at furnishing student accommodation at relatively cheaper prices.

Wood items are mostly solid wood, there's lots of leather and mostly leather furniture, fabric quality is good, and now that we have the furniture in our home, I can tell you everything is perfectly comfortable. They have three separate showrooms, one for living room, one for bedroom, and one for outdoors. Prices are pretty good, at a little more than half of what you might find at just about any furniture store. Delivery was quick and painless and customer service was not bad, either. One of our items arrived damaged, but they replaced it right away with no questions asked.

Filled to the brim with english and australian furniture, barometers, silver, porcelains and various other bric-a-brac you can spend a happy afternoon perusing the range on offer. (Be sure to also check out the beautiful grandfather clocks!) With such a good central location and reasonably friendly staff (It depends on what side of the bed they woke up on) this place is well worth a pop-in.

But that's what Twice Upon A Time is all about; it's about giving antiques and furniture and old wares a second life, which is the very reason I love antique shops so much. Twice Upon A Time has some truly lovely English and Australian furniture pieces. Thinking about adding this type of furniture to my house always gives me such a light in my eyes, because can you really imagine having so much rich history just sitting in your living room? I want to furnish my whole house with antique and pre-loved furniture in the future, and Twice Upon A Time will definitely be one of my first stops. There's chairs, tables, silver, trinkets, jewellery boxes, drawers, coffee tables, and an ornate cabinet that I found out was named a credenza, and a Victorian credenza at that. Made out of solid Oak and Elm these pieces have been manufactured to meticulous european standards and have withstood my rigorous testing (This includes jumping up and down on the chairs and knocking importantly on wooden surfaces.) It has a fair share of brand name labels if those are what you are looking for, however I have also noted that there is not careful sorting - splits, holes, tearing, stains. This shop has: - clothing - men, women, children - shoes - as above - hats - jewels - household - decor, linen, crockery, cutlery, serveware - books - toys - scarves and belts - bags - sportswear / PJs / swimmers - randomly there will be pieces of furniture, usually of an antique nature.

Well, it's probably just old wood, but still. If you avoid charity shops because you come out feeling soiled and mentally anguished by the "jumble sale" interior, then fear not. This is laid out beautifully, everything is easy to navigate and well signposted - for example, if you want fancy dress or evening wear, then head upstairs. On a raised platform at the back of the shop are records and retro gear (they had an extensive range of seriously bogan 80s leather jackets in case that's your thang) and the main part of the shop is well-organised "normal" clothes. While I was there a woman was trying to offload some of her old shoes in the store, but the staffer wasn't having any of it as the soles were too worn, and in her opinion would be dangerous for anyone to buy and wear. The Paddington St Vinnies is one of the best Vinnies I know, but you have to know when to go there…read morebefore all the good stuff is gone and like all thrift stores, you won't always find something you like. One thing I love about this Vinnies is how it is placed inside a large hall. This allows easy navigation, unlike some op shops where everything is just thrown in a room. There is also a "after six" section of the store situated up a set of stairs in a small room. I have found some great pieces in this room including a vintage gold dress which for only $12. I can imagine a garment like this would be far more expensive at a vintage store. There is also a $1 sale rack at the front which is mainly filled with junk but with a few treasures hiding on it. I once got a polka dotted shirt from that sale rack and get compliments every time I wear it. You will not always find something you like here though, I find that if you come earlier in the week, you will more likely find something you like, that is because all the hip kids get to the good stuff first, it is Paddington after all. If you are a fan of Thrift stores, there is not reason why you would not want to check this place out. It is spacious and filled with treasures as long as you don't mind hunting for them.

I only happened to fall across it parking along James Street one day, and I'm very glad I did. Yes, all the other antique centres I've fallen across/stalked down have been wondrous and oh so gorgeous and otherworldly, but Eilisha's place is a little different. The antiques here seem more accessible and within your grasp somehow, while still carrying with them that intrigue and curiosity that comes with looking at wares meant for another time. Eilisha's has the traditional tea sets and intricately fashioned jewellery you associate with antique centres, but she also has some things I haven't seen such as postcards that I know my mother would absolutely die for, which makes it seem like the history here isn't so far beyond my reach. Eilisha's has furniture and bric-a-brac, jewellery and mirrors, toys and gifts; it's a really lovely little place that is both suited to and incongruent with affluent James Street simultaneously. But this is a place you simply must visit if you love your vintage and antiques. She's been there for 36 years with no indication of quitting it yet. It certainly has a charming feel to it, but tuck all flailing limbs and shopping bags away because there is potential for serious breakage action in this cramped space. Considering it's deemed to be an antique store, there's not a great deal of furniture inside Eilisha's Shoppe. There are some unrestored pieces out the back but what's on display is predominately jewellery, dining wares and random bits and pieces like old war medals (creepy porcelain dolls included). It's the bric-a-brac and the higgelty-piggelty feel to the shop that makes it a quaint and cute place to wander through. Shopping for vintage or antique pieces is always a fun expedition. Eilisha's is certainly not the most amazing of second-hand stores in Brisbane, but if there's some sort of adorable vintage piece you are looking for, it's well worth a browse.
