I made a terrible mistake booking here, it was cheaper than other hotels but impossible to sleep here due to excessive heat. The room was actually dangerous with the power socket hanging off the wall with wires exposed behind it. I saw reception and all they could say is a fan is inside the wardrobe. Fan was noisy. Bathroom was from 1970s. Never again however cheap, two nights here and I'd have been sick. read more

Such a bad hotel! The room was super outdated and the bed didn't even have a fitted sheet! I pulled back the covers and there as just a mattress pad on the mattress. So gross! The sink took forever to drain and the place just felt like it was unclean in a way...also the walls are super thin I could hear people talking/watching TV when I was getting to my room. Lastly they make you PAY FOR WI-FI IN YOUR ROOM!! I've literally never stayed in a hotel that you had to pay for Wi-Fi in your room. read more

Although it's Manchester City centre, unless you don't plan to spend quite a bit of time in the hotel I would not recommend. We have damp on our ceiling and a constant noise because of the 'boiler'. You have to pay for wifi and the windows are terribly old and let in a lot of noise. read more

You may think me crazy, but I'm giving this hotel 3 stars, not necessarily because you'd ever want to stay here, but because of its comic value. It's the kind of establishment that would befit the likes of the Royle family. You know, that kind of place that's so bad it almost comes full circle on the tack spectrum. With rooms starting at £28, you too can be a part of British chav culture. I stayed here once, and although the service was appalling and the food inedible, the hotel's 80s decor and beige formica made me smile. What more did I expect, I mean you get what you pay for. They were trying to make it look like I was crazy at all times, rig the room up with torture. The receptionists and managers were truly daft, the card machines were broken. The room was hotter than hades and there was an empty bag of what I can only assume was cocaine down the side of the bed. I'm a smoker but the fetid stench of stale ash purveyed the air, lingering like the memories of this stay. The other patrons filled me with fear and terror and the screams that came from the room next to me were truly blood curdling. Would recommend to somebody I hated. read more

OH MY GOD. I paid 114 quid for one night for two of us in this place which is quit cheap for city centre Manchester and the location was great but it's NOT worth it! Right so the windowsills has cig ash on them even though I paid for a non smoking room, there was a hole in the wall, ceiling broken, we paid for a window and wish we hadn't the view was indescribable, (please refer to photos), moths!!! The lights didn't work, no fire escape map, dirty mirrors, mouldy carpet and window sill, very outdated, even the hallway and reception was filthy and stunk of piss, There are people smoking crack and throwing up outside, there are people throwing up in the hotel and it wakes u up at night, DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! read more

Totally wouldn't recommend. The room was boiling, we were right in the middle of a noisey wedding party...I'm all for people having fun but please don't put people who aren't part of it and have to get up early in the middle of it. 3 star hotel? That's a joke if I ever read one, 1 star barely. I don't think I have ever stayed in a worse room and my occupation takes me all around the world to different hotel roooms...hell a hostel is better than this place. The 95 pounds that I paid for the night is completely overpriced. The bathroom was in a shape of disrepair and the non existant air conditioning was just loud and did nothing to take the temperatures down from Mecury like degrees. I will NEVER EVER be staying there EVER again and I would warn everyone against it. read more

Pretty poor. Room had no windows, it was impossible to turn off the air conditioning, there was duct tape holding down the carpet with a clothing label used to keep the wallpaper up. The second star comes from them sorting me out with a better room after I complained (I use the word 'better' loosely) though I was waiting 30 minutes and had to call twice and go down to reception once during this period. Don't be fooled by the pool either, it's so small I reckon I could do a length with one or two strokes. Alot of apartment style accommodation in Manch that I suspect would be much better value if you're staying here. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

'I must warn you, I don't have a window in my hotel room,' my friend said. 'Instead of a view, they've offered me a delightful mural.' Sacha's is an unashamedly cheap and cheerful hotel which makes fabulous use of the opulent yet slightly tacky building in which it resides. And this Trompe L'Oeil to which my friend referred was not a joke, no, Her room was fabulously air conditioned however, so there was no fear as to whether it felt fresh or not. Home to Spindles Leisure Club, despite being owned by Britannia Hotels, Sacha's has lost none of its kitschy charm and quirkiness. It's functional, clean and tidy, which is all I ever want from a one night stay. I'm not too mad about creating a bespoke home from home and feeling totally pampered if it's only a one night stay... if I'm on my own or a bit homesick it's a different matter. But the friend of my mum and I who came to Bella Italia and the BF's gig was staying here for the night and uses it every time she visits Manchester. It's always served her well. A simple room only deal will cost you as little as £35, but with breakfast and a few extra trimmings it's still uber-cheap for something that's bang smack in the city centre and close to every transport link or shop you can think of. I wouldn't recommend it to the nitpicky, or to people who are particularly rich as it's not exactly starred luxury, but as I said, it's comfortable, fresh, and has that lovely unique edge to it. It might not be everyone's cup of tea but I challenge you to find a cheaper stay in a hotel that has the same quality service. Gems like Sacha's are hard to find, and any friend who can't crash on my couch would be sent a link to it immediately. Long live Sacha's and its foregoing of windows for murals! This place is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in......DO NOT STAY HERE! The place is decorated with the most flowery chintzy gregarious pictures. The staff are unhelpful, the food is horrible. I have to also say that most of the standard rooms have no natural light. If your thinking of staying here do yourself a favour , save some money and get yourself arrested - a prison cell will provide a much better nights stay. Back when my girlfriend Alex and I where struggling students in Liverpool, Manchester still seemed very much like the promised land of shops, bars and general niceness. When we got our student loans we would go and stay there for the weekend and basically waste the lot on ill fitting outfits, hangovers and hotel bills. Stupid but that's what being a student is for damn it. Well what else? I mean who ever got a job with a degree?! Leaving it late in the day one time, we ended up in the Britannia Sachas. Now the mid 20th century gave us a lot of cool stuff, but some things are retro and some things are just old- Sachas is the latter. The decor was like Dallas on a comedown. Before my headache brought on by the sheer amount of things covered in brass turned into a full blown girly migraine, the bell boy ushered us into our FIRST suite. A few problems concerning flooding, unchanged beds and quite brilliantly a PAINTED ON VIEW rather than an actual window (outstanding effort with the paintbrush there!!!) and we were quickly onto our 4th room. Still reeling from finding out that we weren't really overlooking the Bahamas as the previous room had suggested I decided to just settle with the room that was at least honest about its lack of window and take solace in the fact that I was now in possession of a large amount of tea and coffee making ingredients, picked up on our whirlwind tour of the hotels most trip-ruining of rooms. Later, high on caffeine Alex took up our grievances with the manager (whilst I skulked in the background pretending I was unaware of the ensuing two man fracas taking place before me) and was expertly dodged in her attempts to get some money back, trying again the next day we were actually chastised like naughty school children. I stayed here about 2 years ago, and along with some noisy refurb work outside the room, I had a nasty shock when I opened the curtains, thee was NO WINDOW! There was a mural of a beach scene from what I can remember! Anyway, I decided it was just for the one night, so I went out for tea and then came back to go to bed. I was kept awake most of the night by the noisy extractor, which, once there was no drilling from the contractors, you could hear really clearly. It sounded like a helicopter hovering overhead! It as also very disconcerting to wake up and not know whether it was day or night! Hideous! I have just been looking for somewhere to stay in Manchester again, and found this place. I see now that they are advertising the fact that there are no windows, which I think is only really great if you airline staff. Sacha's Hotel. On the one hand, I am qualified to review it, on the other, I am not. This is because I have never stayed in the hotel, but I have been here for our History Ball, at the end of term at university. So I can't comment on the rooms or anything like that, but I can say that they have a pretty cool function room. They did us big tables plenty of decent (would use any other superlatives) food and they had a nice bar with drinks at good prices. DJ was appalling but we loved it. What more can you expect from a hotel that is almost entirely decorated gold. Seems to have had a hard time with the reviews, but my summarizing comments would be that even if its not the best place to stay, it's a pretty decent place to hold an event. read more

I made a non-refundable booking for the hotel and then when we arrived we waited in line for over an hour to check in before being told that there were no rooms available at all in the hotel and having to find an alternate place to stay at 6pm on Saturday night the weekend lockdown restrictions lifted (and in the end we had to pay double what Sacha's cost for the last minute booking in am alternate hotel in addition to having PID for 24h of parking at Sacha's associated car park). I have tried multiple times to call the hotel and have never gotten through, and have also not received a reply via email. Booking.com did manage to get in touch with the hotel and Sacha's told them that we were a no-show for the booking. All in all it was a terrible experience and I will never be booking Sacha's hotel or any Brittania hotel again. read more

Well, after staying here 2 nights, from 20th to 22nd of November, and with a price of 55 GBP for 2 people in a room with 3 beds... I have no complain about it! The room was big, with 3 comfortable single beds, with an old TV (no channels running tho, apart from BBC), with a big window (it was on the 5th floor) and it was very very clean! Bed sheets and towels, all of them really clean! The location is just fantastic. I am not giving the 5 stars because the wi-fi wasn't working properly and the shower had not enough pressure to have a nice shower time! Apart from that, everything went perfect. The room came with an electric radiator as well! To be honest I was quite impressed for the money we paid... I didn't try the food, so I cannot say anything about it, sorry. The decoration is not great and is from the late 80's early 90's, but to be honest I didn't care, it was clean and shiny! read more

I've only ever been bitten by a flea twice. Once was at the now gone Cine World cinema in Withington, the other was whilst staying at Sacha's hotel. Say no more ... Only that I had a tacky scene of New York's skyline at night hidden between faded and smelly velvet curtains - classy. That topped it and we actually left for a Travelodge. read more

I havent stayed in this hotel but it is a great venue for small exhibitions and events, I recentley attended an event in one of the ground floor suites and it was a great room for the event. The hotel itself is pretty large and has many rooms. The bar is open late into the night and the rooms are very reasonably priced. This is great place in the heart of the city. read more

**Sachas hotel- Manchester** I booked this hotel last minute as i had a job interview in Manchester and needed somewhere quite cheap ,that was also near the centre. *Location/Getting there This hotel is located in Tibb street which is a 2 minute walk from Piccadily Gardens or 10 minutes away from Chorlton street bus station.The Train station is a little bit further away say maybe a twenty minute walk but i don't think that this is that bad .You can also get a tram from Piccadily gardens and this goes to quite a few places.You could also get a taxi to the hotel but i am not sure what parking is like if you were to take your own car. Reception/staff Since i had never been to Manchester before i phoned and asked the staff for directions -they were very nice and helped me out.When i got there i think i got the same women(was a few days later).Staff member was lovely ,you felt like she actually liked her job/was being genuine.Checking in didn't take very long,it started to get busy so another member of staff came out and helped. Hotel/Room One problem with the hotel was that the lift was broken and the signs to the service one weren't that clear,so i ended up dragging my suitcase up four flights of stairs and my suitcase aint light!!!. The other thing i didn't like was that the room i had didn't have a window,which i thought was weird.I like looking out the window for the view/to check what the weather is like before i decide what to wear.The room itself was very neat and tidy and came with tea/coffee facilities .The shower was reasonable ,not great but good enough for a hotel.My room didn't have a mini bar but i don't know if this is the case in them all. Other The room service was very quick and they had a good selection of food-Prices are what you expect for room service. Breakfast-They offer a buffet breakfast in one of the bars downstairs for around £10 depending on which option you get. I paid £5 for mine and i am glad i did as i would say it isn't worth any more than that. I went for breakfast at about 10am and it looked like some of the items had been on the hotplate since they started serving breakfast at 7!!!The staff also seem busy so it can take them a while to get you a pot of tea or coffee. They have a swimming pool which can be used for £2.50 a day or £5 a week. Price I paid £100 for 2 nights through hotelclub.com(if anyone wants referred feel free to ask :-)).Prices seem to start from £55 depending on what time of the week or the month you book.Also if you do it through the club i have mentioned they also give you *member dollars which can be used for money off future hotel bookings. Book about a month before staying, as i had an interview. Stayed Thursday to Friday. Hotel was amazing clean tidy. Only problem was we got a room with no window what do you expect for £40 for a twin room. Staff were great. We were out on the Thursday night and came back the air conditioning wasn't working so we were moved rooms straight away in to a room with windows which was a bonus. Great hotel would go back. This hotel is only excellent value if you are staying on weekdays, a wee bit more expensive if you are staying at the weekend. read more

Worst hotel I've ever been to. First time in Manchester and I booked this hotel. Nobody helped me with my two large boxes, they said there's no one available so I have to take them up the stairs myself, the room was really cold and I kept calling the reception nobody answered through the entire night. It smelt like smoke and it was no smoking room, The kettle was dirty, the entire place itself was dirty. The staff were so rude and Part of me felt like I was treated that way because I'm black. I've only given this a star as the system makes you give at least one - I don't think it even rates that! This has to be one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. I stayed for 5 nights in September 2008. The main lifts were out of order and apparently had been for 3 months! The service lift was being used but then also broke down on the second day of my visit and wasn't repaired whilst I was there. I was on the third floor so not too much of a problem but my collegue was on the sixth floor and the duty manager was very unhelpful when asked if a porter could take luggage to the room. The bedding and furniture had strange stains on them, the bathroom was battered, had peeling paint and mould sealed into the sealant round the bath. Room temperature was uncontrollable and the ventillation system noisy. The building is a maze and badly lighted and signed. I ordered breakfast in my room and it arrived cold (not really a surprise as I guess it had to come up the stairs) and wrapped in cling film. The swimming pool is pocket sized and is overlooked by the bar. The only plus point is the central location but there are many better hotels close by. read more

Me and my girlfriends booked stay at the Sachas for the weekend. We were so disappointed, we was given a room on the 5th floor which was full of smoke as soon as we came off the lift. The smell when we open the door to the room we were staying in, linen on the bed look dirty. My friend start having asthma attack. We went back to the reception and complained and was taken to the first floor which smell the same and damp. The people walking off the street was looking like they only their to have sex and the lady who said she was the manager was inconsiderate, unhelpful and rude. We had to start arguing for our money and was later offered a room at the brother hotel. Don't stay here...need to be bulldozer down. read more
