BOSS is a well known brand and used to be a leading sailing school. However, it seems that they decided to stop investing: the boats are outdates and badly maintained (the one I did my course on broke down several times in 5 days no refund or apologies offered) and their account with the fuel berth was negative so we couldn't get more fuel when we needed it. The school also pays its instructors below market level so you get whoever is not engaged with a better paying school. There are some great and knowledgeable people working for the school but in general any customer has to accept the fact the experience might be ruined by underinvestment and attitude of some members of staff. read more

I looked at this site before choosing between boss and several other companies. Now I've completed my course I think it's time for my review. The reason behind choosing boss over other potential companies was due to a combination of helpful advice before booking and their prestige. I was given a wide variety of crew and instructors which has given me a very good foundation to build on. I was living on their boats, for a total of six months, every day almost and in that time I completed almost every course they can offer. The boats are old however I can't complain about poor maintenance. For the entire time I was there we broke down once which was due to something another crew member did! The boats overall are very good to learn on - much better than the newer boats. The food they provide is basic and nothing fancy - I survived six months which is all I wanted. Instruction was very good, the office staff are amazing to deal with, very very helpful and informative. When I finished my course that wasn't the end of it, I had a huge amount of help finding work. I finished in October 2013, As a commercial YM and been working in the Caribbean as skipper on a 41"charter S/Y since! Loving every minute and that's thanks to the guys in the office going above and beyond expectations. read more

I have done lots of sailing with BOSS, more recently I have completed my Day skipper practical. I really enjoyed my time with them. I had a fantastic few days out on the water with a great crew and a top instructor: Jamie, who was really calm and explained everything I was unsure of. The boat sailed excellently. I have been extremely pleased with boss over the last couple of years and look forward to doing lots more with them. read more

Great school. Great Skippers and good solid boats. If you want a Sailing school that teaches you how to do something properly. Then this is the place. The boats I learn`t on were built for their seaworthiness, not for their resemblance to caravans. Here I learnt what was needed. For a place that doesn't care if you can use a bow thruster, but for a place were I learn`t to make the right choices out at sea. read more

I did both day skipper theory and practical courses with BOSS. The theory instructor was excellent but the boat we used for the practical was terrible. It was old and was badly in need of an overhaul as many things were broken and not working. I also found the office staff to be rude and oblivious to customer service. I highly suggest avoiding and instead use a school which maintains it's yachts! read more

I did a yachtmaster course at BOSS recently. Our instructor was excellent and while the boats old, everything was clean and worked. I enjoyed sailing on a boat which needed to be sailed. Overall a good week, And I passed the exam too!! read more
