Harassed and bullied by rude and unhelpful staffs with an oversized ego…read more I have had the most frustrating and upsetting experience on November 7th 2015 just before my test at 11:00, and I was not allowed to take the test because of an utterly ridiculous reason. The staffs were extremely rude and inconsiderate which made me I feel like a mistreated refugee begging for their mercy. Also, they staff spoke and understood the English language extremely poorly (spot the irony). I paid my hard earned £50 to get this harassment and non-existing "service". Beware if you are considering using this centre for The Life in the UK Test! My advice is to go somewhere else and do not waste your time and money at this appalling place. And quite right too, as it's all for a good cause! Maybe it's the location that does it, but the stock at this particular Oxfam shop tends to be quite high-end, and even with their intelligent pricing, you can still pick up some amazing bargains on brand-name items, particularly coats and jackets. As well as second-hand items, they also sell a wide range of fair trade food, paper goods, and jewellery.

The book section offers a good selection of newer & recently released novels / paperbacks - all at the cheap oxfam prices of roughly £1.50 on average. Yes the hackney branch is cheaper, however this shop is better located and always has a great & ample stock of books in store - which makes it well worth a browse when in the local vicinity. Most of these items appeared to be brand new too, with the clothing section remaining within the operative word of the phrase 'second hand'. The reading habits of the donators in the Putney area has to be commended: I found some cool novels by Yann Martell and Bill Bryson, two of my favourites! As always, prices are super low and if you go it's always a good thing to support a good cause. There's a load of old trinkets and household goods too, and you always get the feeling you might just pick up something old, valuable and random. Like Hitler's dinner fork.

It's best for DVDs (which are right at the back): they have a rapid turnover of stock, so it's worth checking regularly, and you will occasionally find some unexpected gems for a few pounds.
