These people are crooks. I am a reseller and after placing an order with them they then went around me and went straight to my customer. They damaged my relationship with my customer and they cost me a ton of money. They have zero integrity. read more

I wanted to work at Britten because Taylor Jones was an amazing leader! They was a lot of good things going in the company when I started. I moved my way up in the company over the next 3 years until they brought in Kris Rockwood as the VP of Sales. Kris comes off as very self centered and extremely concerned about her own goals. She continuously put me down and she made me resent myself and my significant other. I'm so glad I was able to move to another company who gave me a change to be myself and feel good about who I am. I'd never go back to Britten as long as Kris Rockwood is still there. She is not a leader. read more

I work for a large, public university. The entire team at Britten Banners has been nothing but a dream to work with. They ALWAYS answer questions on time, send proofs along and beat everyone in QUALITY, SERVICE and PRICE! We ordered multiple banners and two Event Truss system through Britten Banners, which came in flawlessly and were assembled by Britten staff faster than we could imagine. The work Britten Banners did for us creating, transporting, installing, and unveiling what could be the world largest piece of fine art (pending Guiness approval) was impeccable. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Britten. read more

I am not sure if Britten is simply understaffed, but the experience I had with them was extremely poor, both in terms of banner quality and customer service. We had used them the previous year to create 3 banners for a company function and the banners looked cheap and thin, but nonetheless, we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and returned to use them this year to fix the issues with the prior year's banners. We contacted our contact, Tim, on September 30, 2014, and requested the banner be completed and shipped to us by October 13. However, we had not gotten the banners as of October 14 and we called to follow up and apparently, Tim never received our files and did not let us know this until we followed up with him, after the banner was already supposed to have been delivered. The banner was then completed quickly and shipped to us a week after our original requested deadline. When the banner arrived, it had unfinished frayed edges. The banner looked completely unprofessional and was completely unacceptable and unusable. Once again, we decided to give Britten the benefit of the doubt and contacted them again to fix the issues, but did not receive any response again for over 4 days, in which time, we researched other vendors and ultimately went with the other vendor, who did an incredible job and listened to our requests and made a high quality product. And then the final straw is that we had provided payment information back in October for the banner that turned out poorly and I just was contacted January 20, 2015 with an invoice for payment because they never ran the credit card back in October and it had since expired. Overall, if you would like a quality banner and a seamless process, take your business elsewhere. read more

I work at a non-profit organization here in Traverse City and have worked with Britten Banners on a few different occasions. Their staff is always helpful and dedicated to their work! The company really cares about the community as well as their own staff. They have created banners for several different companies that I work with as well as supported our programs for students in need of work experience. I work for a reputable wholesale company. We have used Britten Banners 3 times for screen printing orders that are printed for large big box retailers in the United States. All 3 of our orders have been completely wrong costing us business relationships with these large retailers. It is our fault for using Britten even after they have messed up our orders, however we wanted to stay local and have a means of trying to control our quality before the merchandise was shipped out to the retailers. This last time, they incorrectly printed the shirts (after proofs were sent and approved by Britten) as well as incorrectly printed various sizes. The items we received back from Britten (that were supposed to be shipped out to a retailer) were not able to be sent out per the deadline of the retailer. This has cost my wholesale company over $6000. After all this, Britten still has not tried to resolve this issue after a month of waiting for them to credit our company and replace the garments we gave to them to print. All three of these situations were handled unprofessionally and not in a timely manner whatsoever. They have cost our company irreversible damage with business relationships, as well as monetary losses that we are still out a month later. I would advise anyone who is thinking of using Britten Banners to not do so if they have extremely important business relationships they would like to keep. read more

Established in 1984.

While Paul Britten was an architecture student at the University of Detroit, a friend suggested they enter a banner contest to win World Series tickets. They worked tirelessly, entered their hand-painted, custom banner, and won the contest (and the tickets)--as well as an audience with General Motors' Chairman Roger Smith, who commissioned a 40-by-100-foot banner from Britten that would hang on GM's world headquarters!

A year ago the paper decided to restrict online content to paid subscribers, further diminishing the usefulness of this rag. Not that there's much content worth reading in it anyway. Most of it's stories are just reprints from the Associated Press. The editorial board just regurgitates the typical mainstream liberal perspective. The small amount of local news coverage seems to be primarily devoted to sports. Rather than being the community resource it could be, the Record Eagle stands as a pathetic testament to how to waste an opportunity.

Then on August 25 I noticed I was still being charged, here is the explaination I got: "...you were unable to locate it because you had signed up on the back end, so your home address and phone number were not included in the account." I have no idea what the "back end" is, but it was obviously made available by the Record Eagle so they need to own it. The cancelled finally, but no refund. Poor business practices, the whole E-Edition interface needs work.

I would like to share my recent experience with Britten Inc, specifically with Jenn Ryan from the Prior Life division. I had found out about this company and what they do and wanted very much to get a tote bag for my daughter who had ran her first marathon in the Marine Corp Marathon this past October. She chose this race to honor her father who had past away 2 years ago. He was a Marine and served proudly in Viet Nam. When I discovered this website and ordered the bag I was not aware that I had to pick a specific event. When I received the bag I was disappointed that it did not represent the marathon that she ran in. I called and spoke with Jenn Ryan who was eager to help provide me with something from that marathon. When I received the bag I was so delighted with it as it was more than I expected. There are two Maries in full dress blues on the front and when my daughter opens this gift I am certain it will bring tears to her eyes as she wells up in pride knowing that she did this race to honor her father who served our wonderful country with such an honorable unit. After doing HOURS and HOURS of research on where to buy the best quality portable tent I finally found Tent Craft. I was very concerned with the ease of setup since I am a small framed woman that needed to set up the large tent myself. I was also very set on finding an extremely stylish tent that would place me in front of my competitors. Once I decided I wanted to go with a Master Tent from Tent Craft the process was soooo easy. I recently did an interview with Jenn Ryan of Britten Banners and priorLife on the sustainability story of their products. I had first seen the priorLife bags in a shop in Sutton's Bay and fell in love with the bag not knowing the story behind it. I soon found out that Britten Banners, a local company in Traverse City, takes back the banners they make for their corporate customers and turns them into beautiful, functional totes, zippered pouches, large bags, etc. I contacted Jenn at Britten Banners and asked if I could interview her and possibly get a tour of the facility. She responded very enthusiastically and was very gracious. I personally own 4 of these bags and have been very happy with the quality and the design. As the organizer of the Bell's Beer Iceman Cometh Challenge, I have been a Britten Banners customer since 1990 and have always received personal attention from my sales representative. When there was a problem it was fixed quickly and equitably. I rely on Britten Banners for number plates, credentials, as well as sponsor banners of all sorts of shapes & sizes in coreplast, scrim, and vinyl. EventTruss rental has been key in creating a finish line that pops with color and salutes the athletes' accomplishments. I also have purchased two MasterTents from Britten Banners and they look and operate just like new after years of abuse. I met Dave Taylor in one of the multiple shows concering POP products in the US, I was very surprised for the Britten Banner product and its development all around the world, after that I visit the firm at Traverse City and all the demonstration on the Britten products and specially on the Britten Banners satisfied me a lot and decided me to ask Britten to give the representation for Argentina and helped Britten Banners to develop the business in South America. Fortunately for us I found Britten while working with MasterTent USA (now TentCraft) as they partnered in creating all of our client print needs for 2009. Britten is one of the most experienced companies I've ever worked with. Their service and speed of delivery is outstanding. I have used them for a variety of print needs (tents, banners, stage prints, backdrops, etc.) and up to this date I've never had a problem. I am a print broker and first learned of Britten Banners (then Britten Media) in the late 1990's. I've watched them grow and develop into the Britten Banners we all know and love today. My history with Britten Banners has run the gamut from tiny little signs that hang from the ceiling to great big banners that hang off a building. Britten Banners always makes me look good. As an event producer, my success is dependent on the reliability of my vendors. Britten has not only made me look good to my clients, they have saved my ass on numerous occassions! I love that these guys think ahead of me by asking questions that I have not even though of (ie: will you be filming at tevent? if so, certain materials will cause a glare)... Britten Banners has helped us design and produce our annual 500,000 attendee community festival's main entrance truss structure, as well as all flags, signage and festival property and street banner applications. I've now used Britten Banners for several large backdrops and a wide banner. The print quality was beautiful, the finishing was excellent and Britten exceeded my expectations on timing on each project. I had a little hiccup with using the FTP upload but the response time for helping me load my graphics was within minutes. All my Britten Banners wore beautifully under somewhat harsh conditions (Arizona sand storm). I can't see any reason to go anywhere else. read more

Trust me, you NEED this paper. When I arrive at Glen Lake, the very first thing I do is pick up the current Enterprise. In publication since 1877, the Enterprise is an integral part of the county, providing details on community events (church suppers, fundraisers, speakers, group meetings, etc.), local real estate listings and other classifieds, sports (local, of course), business, obituaries, etc. It has a clear focus on local news, so don't be surprised by the deer hunting photos in the fall or a 2 page spread on a local bond debate. I particularly enjoy the "This week in Leelanau County History" and editorial sections, including the letters to the editors - we have a lot of very interesting and very smart characters up here! If you are a part-time resident as I am, the Enterprise quickly gets you back up to speed with area news after an absence. Don't skip the classifieds or any of the advertisements as they often clue you in to dining specials, seasonal business hours, and fantastic estate sales. It also makes great kindling for your fire once you've read and re-read it. :) The Enterprise is, without a doubt, the best source of information in Leelanau County. With an easy to use website and out of town subscriptions available, you never have to be out of the loop even if you aren't up North.
