Tired, cold, half-cooked potatoes rounded out a substandard dish. The pancakes I tried were burned (black) on one side, and when I asked for another stack they brought me pancakes that were still liquid in the middle. If there is a happy medium, the cook couldn't find it. With better options in Brunswick, I won't be back.

I had a very extended visit as a patient at MMC and had two visitors who drove quite a distance and arrived hungry. I suggested we try Pavilion, as they had the option to order and pay online and set a pick up time. Super convenient! We had a few hot sandwiches that were very customizable with the options on the web form. Mine was a steak and cheese on a nice French roll, sub-style. You have many choices for condiments, vegetables (hot or cold), and cheeses (some are extra, some are free). One guest had a burger and the other picked a hot pastrami. We also added one of each hot side; onion rings, fries, and sweet potato fries. All of the sandwiches and sides were well-made, to our specifications, and quite like a sit-down restaurant in flavor and quality! No complaints at all. I am on a carb-restricted diet so I had to call down and ask for carbohydrate information for the roll and onion rings. The staff who answered were more than happy to help and found that information for me within a couple of minutes. So helpful and with a smile in their voice! My visitor who went down to pick it up asked for a "good selection of all the condiments" at arrival to the pick up counter. They gave us a little paper bag with at least 50 single-serve packets of all their different kinds of condiments for free! We are talking hot sauce (Cholula!), ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, relish, etc.! That really helped to have quite a few extras to last out my stay and jazz up the standard hospital meals. Overall I don't think you can miss if you choose this for a meal while at the hospital or in the area in general. Prices are far more reasonable than local eateries nearby. Our entire meal for 3 came to just over $40 with a 20 ounce bottled beverage and a Smartfood popcorn for a later snack added on! (Check out my photo for a breakdown that includes prices.)

Fried Calamari: calamari, fried cherry peppers, arugula, and cherry pepper aïoli. Fresh, breading was light and crispy. My only complaint here is there weren't enough tentacles, a lot of rings. I usually only eat tentacles because the rings are usually close cousins to rubber bands. That was not the case here, but I still wanted more tentacles. Either way very delicious. Main Brick Oven Brie Pizza!! Amazing, they crossed perfect, light chewy cooked through, not soggy in the middle. Everything you want out of pizza crust. I find myself constantly disappointed in the Lewiston Auburn area when it comes to pizza. There's one other place I go that's in Auburn, it's nice to know there is a second option if you want a pizza crust that doesn't taste and feel like cardboard. Garlic knots were the first things out and they were very tasty and addictive. My son decided on the linguini carbonara, although not a classic carbonara dish, it remains one of his favorites. I tried it and it was creamy, indulgent, fresh, and the pasta was perfectly cooked. I chose the gnocchi with in house made bolognese sauce topped with ricotta cheese. I loved it and it tasted even better heated up the next day. Entrees come with a choice of soup or salad; he went with the salad and I had the homemade Italian wedding soup. We were both pleased with our choices. The portions were quite generous, service was on point all evening, and the entire establishment and restrooms were immaculately clean and well organized. Large parking lot, but heard it fills up fast at this popular spot. I highly recommend and look forward to returning.

Continuing our drive north we came across the famous Moody's Diner that's known for their pies & down home cooking. They cook their own turkey so a turkey club is a must. For me it was either a 1/2 # lobster roll or a Percy burger with Swiss, onion & mushrooms. The burger was the juiciest burger I've ever had & I had a hard time getting it around my mouth. I managed to eat 3/4 of it & took the rest back to our B&B for later. We also had a side of awesome onion rings. If you've never been go eat & enjoy Maine cooking & hospitality. A factoid: They serve over 55,000 pieces of pie a year. Off to Whitehall B&B to rest up, go sightseeing & have an extraordinary dinner the night before our 37th anniversary.
