There's no atmosphere and there's no wow factor of an amazing aroma as soon as you walk in! For the price you pay, you could go to one of manchesters top restaurants for not much more! Another thing is the desserts.. Everyone has been going on about the cakes and ice cream there for weeks! They have them all lined up in a cabinet so of course, you have a look and see toffee ice cream with actual tofifees in it! 'Wow!' And bubblegum ice cream with real balls of bubblegum in it! 'Ever better!' So you order them both and just get a plain scoop of ice cream from a tub which is nothing like what they show you! and for £1.80 a scoop! WHAT?! I could have bought the whole tub you just got that one scoop from!!! So overall, I won't be returning! And as I can recall, I wasn't the only one unimpressed as there was a lady behind me complaining that she had found hairs in her food, not that they wanted to do much about it and just replied with 'the kitchen staff wear hats!' Brilliant customer service you have! (Not!)

We were drawn originally by the story that Mick Jagger use to go in here as he lived nearby. Then we were drawn by the meal prices, so we decided to pull into their car park and give it a whirl. First thing I noticed was how dark Wuthering Heights type building it is. I wondered if a Heathcliff was behind the bar but sadly there were only young ladies and a big tall chef who looked nothing like my hero Heathcliff. Inside, the rooms are all opened planned and large and there is a separate dining area. Once we were settled, we decided to order and I chose something I had never really had before and that was a steak filled with feta cheese. When I say it was filled, I mean stuffed. The steak was made into a ball shaped and once you cut into it, steaming hot feta cheese came pouring out. I would recommend this restaurant for any time of day, it is not only fantastic but cheap and cheerful.

The food is top notch, and reasonably priced as is the beer. The locals don't bite, and in winter they have fires going. I have always liked it, and so have I. Worth a visit if you're in the area. There is currently a 'for sale' (business) sign outside, so if it gets leased or sold and the food and hospitality takes a nosedive, then don't blame me and my review ..

Yet it retains its lofty ambitions, sat aperch a hill and surveying the area around. Such a classic Sunday lunch pub and one that people love to discover. Various family and friends have bragged to each other about this place only to find it is not such a secret with locals. This is the kind of place you will take someone to try. They must see it. They shouldn't have to miss out. Bearing all this in mind, it is not perfect. The layout is a little annoying for large parties- no tables will accommodate more than six or seven easily and there simply isn't enough space to be pushing and joining etc. Also, you run the risk on a Sunday of running out of certain meats so either there will be a hefty wait, as on my sister's most recent birthday here, or various diners will eat at different times depending on which meat they want with their Sunday roast. The carvery is good though. An ok amount of choice, but enough to satisfy most eager customers. The air is lively and chatty whilst being relaxed. If it weren't for the points above I'd have given it a 5.

Chef Neil Buttery is at the helm in the kitchen and Brian Shields is the ever welcoming face of the front of house. Whilst we didn't have any food as we'd eaten at Trove, the food we saw coming from the kitchen made us just a little bit jealous of everyone having filled to the brim pies with lashings of gravy. We had an assortment of drinks with some expertly mixed cocktails and some really great beers. We spent the vast majority of the evening here and the place was constantly busy with locals popping in for a drink or families coming in for a nice meal. A really great addition to Levenshulme that I can only imagine will go from strength to strength.

Turned out to be really cool casual and friendly. Non pretentious honest British food was served with no fuss but still perfectly presented and at a very fair price. Most people around us were here with friends and pints some sharing a board - "like they do in France" - of cheese and bread. We tipped for great service. Just a nice local place where you can expect to bump into your neighbours and come home far too late at night. I forgot to ask them about their bread: gorgeous sourdough bread. We had a great time and snored a lot that night... JB Why not 5 stars: I know it was Friday night. I know it s England. But may be the music was still a bit loud for a 8pm meal.
