Broadway coffee is just a couple blocks from my work. If I ever hit the afternoon slump (like I did this afternoon) I walk over and bring in my own reusable cup to be filled with their drip. I'm constantly amazed by their customer attention and thoughtful dialogue. The owner (who I'm blanking on his name at the moment) has been behind the counter on a number of occasions which is definitely different than you typically see. I can't speak to their espresso as I don't really draw towards lattes, Americanos, etc. The space is usually pretty quiet with tables/chairs open for spaces to work, read or talk. Come here if you're looking for a smaller local coffee shop experience outside the typical Peet's or Starbucks. I may update this review in the future. I really liked this place until I came in and one of the employees just gave me the absolute worst service. I've worked in the restaurant industry (fine dining) since I was 18 y/o. She was rude, unkind and snappy. I don't know who pissed in her cornflakes, but I can't stand getting bad service. I couldn't believe how rude she was to my partner. I ordered a vanilla latte with soy milk, then he ordered his mocha and I'm not shitting you, this lady was like, "I'm not finished with her order. Can you wait?" In the RUDEST tone! I couldn't believe the attitude. I stopped going there. She seemed judgmental, probably because we are young. My sister stopped going because of her as well. I really love this cozy, super unpretentious little coffee shop located in Oak Park. It's small but you can't miss it with the artwork all over the outside walls and even more when you walk inside. I was drawn to the vivid pictures adorning the walls that really capture the homeless. There are also vibrant masks and a gorgeous abstract piece by the loo. the baristas were very welcoming and the whole place has a homey kind of feel to it. It is definitely well worn which adds to its coziness and there is different types of seating for whatever you want to relax in while sipping on their delicious coffee or enjoying a nibble from a selection of breakfast items. I had the Tuxedo with soy milk which very good. Definitely will have to go to Oak Park more often to visit this lovely caffeine refuel station. read more

I came here to support a local coffee spot. I ordered a large caramel macchiato and a donut for my son. I'm not sure what was going on with the donut but it tasted rancid, and I didn't end up drinking my whole coffee because it was extremely sweet. I blame myself for ordering that-its an order that I almost always only like from Dutch bros or Starbucks. I definitely want to go back and get a basic latte or plain cup of coffee and see how it is. This is my favorite coffee shop in the area. It has a very relaxed atmosphere and the staff is so friendly. They have a large variety of drinks including Matcha which is one of my favorite drinks. They also have a question of the day and if you are among the first 3 people to answer correctly you get a free drink of your choice. Great coffee place with plenty of nearby street parking and a chill, welcoming vibe. There are tables if you want to sit with friends, and a long bat table if you'd prefer to sit by yourself and work or read or enjoy your own company. The mural work outside is gorgeous, too. And the barista was super friendly and helpful! This is a coffee shop I'd probably rate lower if it weren't for the friendly employees, who definitely tacked on a star with their personalities and cheerful dispositions. I couldn't name any major problems here and it's a solid option for those in the neighborhood, but it lacks some of the remarkability of its many, many local competitors. First, the no so remarkable: The chai tea latte I ordered wasn't at all foamy or particularly hot. I'm not really on board with the atmosphere either - the acoustics turn the interior into a sort of echo chamber, making for a very loud place to work even with only a few other folks around. There is no padded area to chill so don't plan on any marathon laptop sessions unless you want your butt to fall asleep. On the plus side, the employees really are as affable as can be. The gentleman who served me (who I am assuming is the owner) cracked a couple jokes and spent most of the morning checking on his customers and just generally making sure everyone was happy. That shows me that they really care about their business. There was a situation where a homeless man with a history of loitering at the establishment popped a squat inside. The owner politely asked him to leave and did so with patience and grace. Being homeless beyond sucks, but the owner was able to guide the man out the door without causing too much of a ruckus. read more

When I first visited Broadway it was 5 minutes before they closed and they were cleaning up and creamer was put away. I didn't have time to look at all the snacks and even though the employee was nice I thought I was going to have to find another coffee shop around there. Alas, I gave it one more try and now I am hooked! The coffee is tasty, their food and snack selection is the best I have seen at a coffee shop (that doesn't have a full on kitchen). I want to eat all the foods there. It ranges from healthy and tasty to healthy-ish and oh so tasty, if you get what I mean? I don't hang out there but I see people of all ages in there. The employees are very friendly and make your lattes and other drinks just how you like them. They have a stamp card, so get to drinking your cups of coffee! Baristas are friendly, something you want to see early in the morning. Tasty pastries in the case, mmmmmm cookies. Decor is local art, available for purchase (naturally). I love the gift exchange box. I took the sunglasses and left an unopened tin of Yelp mints. If you get them, those are totally me. They also have a library book exchange as well. Love that. Confused by this place. It's a sparse interior - white walls and a few tables with no cushioned areas to chill. So it would seem to be an in-and-out kind of coffee place, but parking's a pain and it's on the wrong side of the street for most commuters headed into downtown. Nothing struck me as particularly wrong or bad about this place, but, for me, it contained no aspect that would make me a repeat customer. I do like the signage on the side of the building. Right as we walked in, we were pleasantly greeted. The Barista seemed so happy to see us and very helpful and excited to serve us. It was great! Based upon that I knew we had to order and it would be delicious. I ordered the Caramel Macchiato, and my boyfriend had regular Coffee. He loved it. And Only $1 for a refill. Stopped by on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. I had a cup of drip coffee, quiche and an egg/feta turnover. Let me just say, that quiche won me over. Hands down one of the best I've had. I've been meaning to stop in since I moved to Sacramento and am glad I finally made the stop! Got the BBQ brisket breakfast burrito which, at $6, was big enough to split. The brisket was a welcome change to typical breakfast meats and the sriracha aioli was a perfect touch! We also had drip coffee which was very good! We're not super hard-core coffee connoisseurs, but we take coffee seriously and find that many places don't brew coffee to the standard that the roaster would. Broadway seems to be doing it right- I could really taste the sweetness and more delicate qualities the Temple roast had. After splitting the burrito, my husband and I decided to get a mini bundt cake to top off a great meal. It was very cute and the ganache was delicious but the cake itself was so dry, my husband choked on the cake powder. So I would suggest avoiding the cakes. The service was steller- the person who took our order was really helpful and informative and brought out our food to our table with silver ware with the burrito on two different plates. It was a nice consideration! I also really enjoyed the overall vibe of the place. It seemed like the shop serves Oak Park residents well and it was just nice to see the community buzzing around the shop, meeting with friends, and enjoying coffee together. read more

Broadway coffee makes me feel good. They may not roast their own coffee, they may not make their own food, they may not be the fanciest coffee shop in town. None of that matters, they are the best coffee shop in Sacramento. Broadway coffee possesses a purity of spirit I have not encountered in another coffee shop in at least a decade. The core of this spirit is the owner. I do not know his name but he seems to radiate a quiet positivity. He never seems tired or in a bad mood. He just wants you to have a great day and a great cup of coffee. There is a complete lack of pretext with him that just makes me happy to patronize his establishment. I have been stopping at the shop intermittently since they opened (I live two blocks away). They serve coffee roasted by Temple, which is quite good and they have an assortment of pastries and simple fare which is likely supplied by another, outside source. The food is ok but not great. I really don't care about that. The shop just seems to want to be nice to everyone. I have had nothing but exception service here. I just get the feeling that everyone is welcome. The baristas are all charming and the owner will do anything to help out. About six months ago, he saw that my car windows were covered in frost so he ran out with pitchers full of hot water to wash them off. Who does that? He posts a trivia question every day and the first person to guess right gets a free coffee. He seems to know everyone there and he even treats every high school roustabout with respect. I think the owner might be an alien from a very sincere and polite planet. Anyway, the coffee is Temple, it's good. The food is good enough. Go to this place and bask in it's realness. This is a true, old school coffee shop that has craft people rather than coffee and pretty good coffee too. read more
