The BEST thing about this apartment is the coffee shop across the street. Lush Coffee is highly recommended no matter where you are in Whitby!!

The staff are all very welcoming and pleasant at all times and made our stay there a real pleasure. The breakfasts (08.30 10.00) are, at the moment, £6 extra per head per day, but I would strongly recommend them to anyone staying here. The Full English is exactly what it says and kept two of us going until early evening! The one negative point of our stay was that we were placed in the Seashell apartment, which is on the third floor. As my wife is currently awaiting surgery to replace both knees, this proved to be a problem at times. The other side of this was that the views across Whitby from there were breathtaking! The uploaded photograph is the view from the living room window of Seashell apartment. The apartment itself is extremely comfortable and would be good for a normal family with two adults and two children. There are two bedrooms, bathroom, excellent living room and fully appointed kitchen. The location of the whole site is a dream down a very small street (a family car can just make it along the road, single track) and a hundred yards from all the main roads and shopping areas as well as being central for all of the venues which we had to get to for the amazing Whitby Folk Festival. Another bonus was the apartment key let us into the building and our own apartment, making getting in easy; a must when we sometimes had stewarding duties up until 01.30! On this point, we were never disturbed by any other residents, even though it was fully booked and others were, like us, there for the festival and, therefor musicians! In short, an ideal stay in a beautiful location.

The main entrance is on the Eastgate (on foot only), whilst vehicular access is to the rear, through a seriously small gap between two terraced houses, requires absolute concentration! This leads into a spacious gravelled car park surrounded by pleasant gardens. Grindale House has several self catering lets, as well as the majority of bed and breakfast accommodation. As we arrived we were met by the friendly owner who served us a cup of tea and a biscuit in the resident's lounge, after our long drive - a nice touch. The lounge had fantastically comfortable leather sofas, a large flat-screen TV and resident's guide recommending places to eat and visit. After ascending some rather precipitous stairs, our room was modern in décor and tastefully furnished, a little compact perhaps, but with good facilities - tea and coffee making facilities, HDTV etc. The bathroom had underfloor heating too, very nice in the winter! The breakfast room doorway and many entrances throughout Grindale House have low beams, courtesy of the age of the building; so be careful if you're tall! The breakfast room was modern in feel and felt spacious when the guest house was partially full, but quite cramped when it approached full occupancy later in the week. Breakfast wise, there was a good range of fruit juices, cereals, fresh fruit etc. The Full English was great, perfectly cooked and full of flavour, the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs strangely bland and the pancakes just right. All in all though, a great base from which to explore North Yorkshire.

Only found this place as the other more obvious hotels in the area were full, happy I did. The whole place was spotless, the welcome was great and the breakfast the next day was better than any 5* hotel I have stayed in. The only fault I could find was the bed was a little hard for my liking but that's just a personal preference. The best part was the price, what a bargain. Would definatly recommend this place to anyone who is visiting the area.

I booked our accommodation online. Its location (ten minutes walk from the train station) is perfect, right on the Crescent Terrace on the West Cliff. Our room was the Classic Bay, spacious, light and comfortable with a great view of the North Sea. The owners, the Gallaghers, were gracious hosts, friendly and very accommodating of our requests and our needs (we left very early on our last morning, prior to breakfast, but they provided a very satisfying boxed meal. Breakfasts are a special treat, with a variety of choices, tasty food properly cooked and politely served by the attentive waitstaff. I should also mention that the price is quite competitive, also. For a three-night stay, they offer a discount of 5%, so ours was 95 pounds per night ($147). All in all, a real treat!!

The steam trains pass by on the opposite bank but are not intrusive. The setting is riverside, so care needed with small children. The cottages are excellent spec, with everything you need and extremely clean. Most are ground floor only, and with on site, close by parking area. The complex is extremely peaceful, there are a few facilities in Ruswarp, including a reasonable bus and train service to Whitby. Garden area is shared and not enclosed. Outdoor seating is provided for each cottage. Free wifi slightly unpredictable and I couldn't get it to work in the bedroom in the evening (where I like to check my emails). Don't rely on the general store for late arrivals, bring your own tea/coffee etc. Make sure you visit the fantastic butchers shop in the village, bacon butties are brill.

Walkers cut through this site to walk the cliffs into whitby or robin hoods bay. the caravans are all new and well maintained. There are a few to let but most are privately owned. Cayton Bay in Scarborough is one of my favourite Holiday places…read more It is only a 15 minute bus/cab ride from Scarborough and the buses are about every half an hour. The Park itself is clean. You come in through the front gate and straight to reception. Lucky for us our caravan was right behind the reception building and about 50 yards from the entertainment complex. Our Caravan was also much more than we could have asked for. 3 bedrooms which meant that the children wouldn't have to share after all (according to my reservation we should have been in a 2 bed) There was heaters in all the rooms as well as a separate toilet and shower. The kitchen had a microwave and a Forman grill and the lounge area had a DVD player as well as Freeview and built in radio. It was obvious that we had secured a privately owned unit as there were a selection of games in the cupboard and little ornaments scattered about the caravan. As far as the entertainments go Park Resorts have their own characters. Firstly the hero of the hour is Sparky the rabbit along with his slightly more intelligent girlfriend Sparkle. The other character though was by far our favourite, he is Naarky the Nardvark. There is the usual kids club and every evening the entertainment for kids starts about 8pm with a show and games, prizes and of course the obligatory Party dances demonstrated by the Park resorts Teamstars. For the adults there was the the resident cabaret who were a band called Jinx. They are a family consisting of Dad on Bass, Son on Drums and the 2 daughters doing all the singing. In the club you have the usual Star bars and Wonder bar selling all the kids sweets, Slushes and glow in the dark accessories. It wouldn't be the same without them and you can also by the big 1yard cups to fill your kiddies full of fizzy pop. As far as eating out goes, there is the good old pub meals or a wonderful little take-away that does everything including Pizzas, kebabs and burgers. Just the perfect thing to take back to the caravan after you come out of the show. One thing I liked in the pub was the big comfy leather sofas. I was able to settle down on the Sunday afternoon and watch my footie team live on Sky. The camp isn't far from the beach. Just about a 5 minute walk. 1 drawback is it is a huge hill down to the beach but comes with fantastic breath-taking views. I did have to stop a few times walking back up though. This is definitely a place I would go again. Full thumbs up from me!!!

i like the cayton bay sight but have a few issues about the lack of paving to every caravan…read moreespecially those on the steep sloped areas of the site. last year during the heavy rains we had the site was in places very dangerous to walk on the saturated grass to get to your caravan door, i saw many people [old and young] slipping and falling because they had to "paddle" across the grass instead of having a solid pathway to walk on to their caravan. this was especially prevelent when people were unloading their cars on arrival and having to walk down steep slopes to their caravan--if paths were from the road and car parking areas to the doors the problem would not occur, what would health and safety say? come on park resorts spend some money and make it safe for all
