We brought my father-in-law to Auberge after my MIL passed away in September. The location is…read moregreat, as it is close to his granddaughter and her children, so they can visit whenever they want. Inside, there is everything one could need for excellent care. This is a locked unit, which is exactly what we needed. He has his own room, although eventually, he may have a roommate. The staff is very kind, and accept phone calls any time so that we can check in on him. He has a better social life now than in the last 15 years. They have good activities pretty much daily. The activities director sends photos regularly. This place is a blessing.

The majority of the caregivers are wonderful, caring people. Unfortunately, the Auberge does not…read morehire nearly enough of these caregivers, so the place is woefully understaffed. The front office experiences very high turnover and is another case entirely. When signing the initial contract upon move-in, they neglect to point out the predatory pricing practices family members are forced to agree to. Signing this contract occurs at a time of great duress for family members, and the Auberge capitalizes on family members' weakness. When providing the required 14-day notice of moving out, I would advise anyone to beware of the minute details you must adhere to in order to comply with their specific move-out notification. They would regard even the most minimal deviation from their required process as cause to void your move-out notice, thereby allowing them to charge for even more days after your loved one is gone. If you can manage any sort of refund for unused days (due to your loved one moving out for any reason, even death), be prepared to wait weeks to receive it. While The Auberge is eager to tack on late fees for any delayed rent payment, they shamelessly hold onto your money for their own use as long as possible. In our case, it took 80 days to receive our refund, even though their contract states that any refunds will be received within 30 days of move-out. Further, in addition to the required 14-day notice (up to 30 days in some instances), be aware that the Auberge also charges for caregiving even on days when your loved one is in the hospital and clearly not receiving care at Auberge. Make no mistake, The Auberge cares far more about your money than your loved one. Of course, in an industry where customer loyalty and retention are irrelevant, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

The lights in the parking lots and public areas are also usually out. The pool is green and draws mosquitos. The elevators are broken constantly and they do a terrible job of managing their waste disposal. They have been reported to the City of Houston on numerous occasions and fined. Various senior agencies have also been made aware of their lack of care and maintenance on the property. The manager, Shay, is a horrible woman who lacks empathy or care for her residents. On another day, I walked into the garage and observed the house manager and another individual " shooting up". During both of the drug activity, a number of men arriving and leaving. At the time I was a participant of the felony mental health court. I informed them of these incidents. After reporting this, I was to ride a metro bus to the park and ride closed to the home then I would be picked up by the house manager. He was not there . I phoned him, then the owner of willing workers. Both did not answer my many calls and/ or texts. My husband was out of town, plus my children were working. I had to walk 9.3 miles to the home. I was being punished. Then later in the week tha owner had me committed to a psychiatric hospital claiming I was not taking my meds, which was not true. Let me add that there was also a resident in the same bedroom. She was not able to get up on her own. She would have to go sometimes 3 days without her depends diaper being changed. The smell was horrible about, of both urine and feces. I was a resident approx 9 days. She was only given one meal a day. The house manager prepared a meal once every 2 or 3 days. Then the food would stay on the stove after these meal preparation. The facility advertised that 3 meals a day would be prepared and served. My husband would purchase food for me to eat. Sometimes I would walk 2miles to fast food restaurants. I do not reccomend this home!!!!!!
