Went for lunch 2 days ago and wasn't disappointed with the food - just the waitress. A slow walk at best - early to mid 20's gal. She was managing a large table right next to us but she still was in no hurry. We couldn't figure out why all the other wait staff and personnel in this clean establishment would fast walk about and she seemed to be on a Sunday evening stroll. Once we figured out she wasn't a resource we could count on - we started asking others for the things we needed - such as mustard for the burger. More water & Ice please... This place was my idea of a perfect breakfast. On a saturday morning we were sat quickly and our orders were also taken pretty quickly. Everything that was had was nearly perfect, the eggs, the bacon, the bread, everything on the table was made the way that it should be. Came in with my gma and sis at ten pm after seeing a movie. My first thought was, this is a cute little mom and pop joint. The place was practically empty.... except there was a group of 10 just waiting on benches. We stood at the counter for a good 3 minutes wondering where the hostess was. She finally showed and seated the large group. She came back and seated us, grumpily. We just ordered some espresso drinks. Our waitress was very friendly but wasnt around much. She brought my Mocha out with half the whip cream down the side of the cup and handle and didnt bring napkins out to clean it for 2 minutes. The place was empty! It should have taken 20 seconds! Had breakfast with an old friend that I haven't seen in about 25 years. It was my first visit to the restaurant. It had a very open, but home town atmosphere. Hostess and waitress were extremely friendly. Meal was Eggs Benedict with a fruit cup and coffee. Very enjoyable. Never had to ask the waitress for anything. Never felt hurried or pressured to leave. been here numerous times. it is def not the best and def geared towards old people with the bland food and under cooked soups that Don't have salt in them but it is OK. a little above Denny's and carrows i think because of the ambiance. the speed bumps in the parking lot are too high and make my stock toyota bottom out at any speed. they just need someone who is not afraid of spices in the kitchen the food is really bland. read more

I sought out Brookfields for breakfast because it was nearby, and it was open. Super high standards, I know. My ignorance, nevertheless, was rewarded with excellent service and high-quality food. A 9 AM lunch break for me usually means fast food breakfast, but thankfully I decided to wander off the beaten digestive tract in search of something that I wouldn't regret in an hour. Thank you, Brookfields, for providing a comfortable, hearty, homey alternative. Since I was flying solo, I sidled up to the counter where my eyes were immediately greeted by the most amazing-looking fresh-out-of-the-oven wonders. Obviously before I got a menu I had already decided my order had to include one of their baked goods. Coffee in hand and feeling like a hungry man, I ordered a breakfast skillet and decided one of the bran muffins I had been eying would be the baked good of choice. The muffin was even better than expected. I recommend skipping the butter - it can only mar the excellence the oven produced. The skillet tasted far better than any likeness it might otherwise have shared with Denny's. The waitstaff were genuinely nice, and incredibly quick even during such a busy time. They anticipated my needs with a degree of professionalism that only comes with dedicated experience. Such a glowing review usually deserves a full five stars, but at $15 I expected a little more carnitas in my skillet. Food quality and quantity was high; it just felt a little too pricey to be the value that would make it easier for me to justify becoming a regular. The next time I want to spend the money, however, I will not hesitate to treat myself to Brookfields. 4.5 stars for excellent quality and service. read more

Been coming here for years. The service is always good and the food is always good comfort food. They will even make the open face hot turkey sandwich which isn't on the menu any more. Coming to this Brookfields is always like coming to a friend's home. They are kind and welcoming and always treat you with such regard. As soon as you walk through the door it feels like a friendly visit. With all that, it's great to know the food is good too. Taste like someone's grandma is in the kitchen serving it up with love. The French toast is amazing with a lovely touch of cinnamon and the waffle nice and crisp on the outside and tender inside just the way it should be. All of the food is homemade and they go above and beyond by making a lot of other items from scratch... Try their killer jams and whipped butter on a biscuit! Service is always excellent. Had brunch there for the first time and was somewhat disappointed. The Corned beef hash was a generous serving but served at a tepid temperature. It was dry, too. The two eggs over easy that came with it were greasy and had been cooked at too high a temperature, resulting in leathery whites and no runny yolks. Th biscuit was cold - not heated at all, and the strawberry jam was an overly sweet puree with no sign of strawberries. So, I woudln't go for the food. The ambiance is very pleasant and the service was good, and the best thing about it was even though my friend and I took forever - we were catching up after almost a year - they never showed any impatience or tried to rush us away from the table. So it's a great place for a visit, and there's probably stuff on the menu that's a lot better - although I avoided the salads, because I don't think that adding canned mandarin oranges really improves a salad. Maybe don't go here if you are looking for a great meal, but a nice place to hang out while visiting friends. read more

Stopped here on the way back from tahoe.. everything was fantastic..espiecially the service. In all honestly, Ed is the best server I can EVER remember having. The bread was saturated with butter/oil so, although it was toasted, made it mushy. It was lukewarm as was were the fries. Service was good - which is why we gave it 2 stars - otherwise it would have been 1 star. My family and I were visiting the Sacramento area for a graduation and planned to go here to get the extended family together for a big breakfast before trekking back home. At a glance, the restaurant seemed to offer enough variety for anyone's preferences and was able to take on a party of 15 so we took our chances and made a reservation. Brookfield's fell nothing short of that prediction!! The food was absolutely delicious, service was thorough while still quick, and every customized order was spot on.
