I will never be coming back here again, it's been so long since I have written a yelp review but I felt compelled to after I not only hated my nails but I was treated extremely poorly. As you can tell from the picture, the guy that did my nails did a horrible job. After we were done and I hated them, I payed for all the work and even TIPPED. I don't usually have bad experiences, so this was a first, so after I did all that I thought to myself: well maybe if I express how I feel to another nail tech they will offer to re-do/not charge me if I come back another day since I'm trying to be as polite as possible, oh boy was I wrong. It's a good option for a quick, cheap, decent manicure. Got a shellac in about 20 mins for $25 plus tip. Service is kind of impatient so if you know you want already, that's fine. Not very good with details, had to ask mine to go back and fix some stuff. Eventually she just kept saying that's okay that's okay. Edges were uneven, but general good overlook. Color selection isn't as wide as at some other places. Place is very clean, employees are friendly and seem happy, massage chairs are comfy, and the location is convenient to the C line / 66 bus. I've also never had to wait even when I come in on the weekends. Today when I went, I had a gentleman do my manicure and the hand massage was lacking -- lasted about 15 seconds (for both hands). I've been living in the Coolidge corner area for 10 years and I used to go to a place regularly that was definitely high quality and a 5-star, but also high in price. I was just looking to get a pedicure and pay the $20 which is the norm, and I also wanted a place with comfortable massage chairs. The reviews that I read here weren't that great, let's face it...But I chose not to listen. I believe these places are really hit or miss in terms of the service you get. They were busy when I came in and they asked me to sit in one of the massage chairs. You don't have to twist my arm. I was perfectly happy waiting 10 minutes in the massage chair. Then the woman was very nice and did such a thorough job on my toes. I paid an extra $5 for 5 more minutes of massage and worth every penny. I had an enjoyable and relaxing pedicure. This is my go-to manicure and pedicure place in Boston. There is usually parking in the Brookline lot, or metered parking right in front. The staff is pretty friendly and there are always a lot of staff to attend to clients. That being said, I have walked in for a pedicure, been told to pick out a color and sit in a massage chair, and have waited for... oh... 15 minutes. If you ask before you sit down, they are always honest about the wait time. They have a pretty good selection of nail polish and if you are planning on getting the gel, they have every color available by OPI and other top brands. My favorite part of a manicure and pedicure is the massage. I mean, I can technically pait my own fingers and toes so when I am paying for someone else to do it, the massage is really key. Unfortunately , the massages have ot lived up to my hopes. We only had to wait for a few minutes and when I saw someone else getting her mani WHILE getting her pedi, I requested that (so my friend didn't have to wait). The mani was a bit difficult while the massage chair was going (oops!) but she was super nice about it and didn't mind. My manicure only lasted about 2 days, but I only paid $30 total, so that's not TOO bad. A bit bummed - they usually last at least a week - but it was nice while it lasted! And the employees are so nice & friendly. And I can tell they put customers first. One woman was helping me put my shoes back on and her phone rang. Tried this place for the first time today and overall had a great experience! I was a walk-in and they took me within a few minutes. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I don't think they used new/sanitized equipment. The place is clean, but I can't say they use new stuff each time. I would have to pay more attention next time. My nails are pretty short at the moment and she made sure there was no extra gel on my skin after she was finished. The gel is even and looks perfect! And for my toes, she did a great job with the French I asked for. The white is even and there's no polish on my skin. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

Overall I had a really positive experience here. I came in on a quiet Monday afternoon. The place was empty and they were able to see me right away. Color selection was meh, strong on nudes, reds, and pinks but only so so for funky colors. I wound up going with one of the regular nail polishes that has a small up charge. I believe there similar to the Essie "gels" that are sold in CVS and can be taken off with regular remover at home. The manicure has lasted really well. It was a week and a half ago and it still looks fairly passable, with only a few really small chips, and one big one I got a few days ago when I broke my nail (my own fault, I'm accident prone). I do paint over my manicures with Essie gel top coat every 3 days or so and it really helps the color last. read more

I stopped by this place for a manicure and pedicure. Honestly, I felt like they're just trying to makeoney. My feet were soaked in water that was hardly warm, didn't even have shampoo or soap for a proper cleansing action. The aesthetician seemed distracted and in a hurry. She finished the whole pedicure in 15 minutes. She hardly scrubbed and massaged the feet. My nails are not a consistent shape OR length, and when I asked the technician to fix it she said to "not compare between nails" and that I could file them myself in a week. By 6:15 we still were not seen yet. The people working continued to accept walk ins and make us wait. They had my friend go and soak her feet for 20 minutes before anyone even came over. We got so fed up with the lack of care and service that we left. Only then did the people want to seat us immediately. I love Sue!! I have been going to Brookline Natural Nails for years!! I even moved away and came back to them when I moved back several years later! While Sue is my girl, all the girls here are great. I have brought friends and family. They take walk-ins but also take appointments, and I would definitely recommend at least calling ahead because they can be pretty packed. I have gotten both manicures and pedicures here. I have never gotten any facial thing like an eyebrow wax, but I have seen many people come in for them and pout if they are unavailable, so it seems they have a following for those services as well. The pedi chairs are massage chairs, and there is a drying station in the back. They had moved to a new location two doors down but I think there was a fire months ago, so they moved to their old storefront again, which is fine as they are literally two doors down from each other. The new place was shiny and new, though, and gorgeous. Prices are reasonable and they do a great job. Even when people are waiting, I don't feel rushed. They are always honest about the wait time, though, so you can plan accordingly. Pretty good hours too I think...morning until later evening. I actually found Brookline Natural from the Yelp app. Nail3ar had kept me waiting so long that I left and went down the street to find something faster. Brookline Natural took me (almost) right away. I gave this place 4 stars because while it wasn't the best place I've been to in my life, it's definitely the best place I've been to in the Boston area hands down. I've only been there once so far, but I went in with cheap, old acrylics that were falling apart and I was afraid they would refuse to fill them and force me to get a full set (because that's happened to me before). They were very polite and extremely meticulous and were some how able to make my old shabby nails look brand new! Plus they look really natural for once so that is a plus! I ended up getting the male nail tech, and I was really nervous because from my experience guys tend to be rougher with you and somewhat cold, plus they don't always know what you want. He knew exactly what he was doing though and did a bunch of stuff you usually have to specifically ask for. He was very serious about shaping my nails perfectly and making sure they were all the same length. He took special care to make my nails fairly thin too which I usually have to ask my nail tech to do because I think they look faker when the acrylic is piled on really thick. Also he made sure to get all of the glue out from under my nails which is something these inexpensive places often forget to do. He did not make me feel rushed at all and he was very kind and easy to talk to. The other big plus was that the salon was extremely clean. The only possible problem I had with this place is it is a bit small and cramped, but other than that everything about the service was great! Definitely try this place if you are in the Brighton area, but don't forget to bring cash for the tips! Lastly treat yourself to "When Pigs Fly" just one store over after your manicure, they have the best bread and baked goods in Boston by far! read more

I love it here. it's a cheap and convenient nail place. They always get your nails done even if you have to wait, and they talk to you and are friendly and accommodating. However, I have to give them 3 stars because the manicure is just OK. I have been here countless times. The regular manicure usually lasts me a little under a week, and the gel usually lasts a little over a week. Since i have been going there I tell them I want my gel to "cook" a little longer than they typically have you stay under the lamps but this helps keep it on and let it truly dry. If you need a pedicure to go on vacation or for an event I do not recommend coming here- they don't last very long, and chip easily. If you are coming for a quick polish change to feel good for a few days, then this place is perfect for you. Overall, nice people, quality polish (OPI and ESSIE) but just OK work! read more

so, an update: Karen, the woman who did all my fills/pedis is gone. The woman who did my full set is Susan (I think), she's the owner - can't miss her. She is not good. My nails are already coming off, it has not been two weeks yet - seriously, like coming unglued on the edges. She did it too quickly without much concern for what I wanted. I wanted thin and short - she still did them long and because she just did them in about 10 minutes, they became faulty right away. Jessica is the girl I always go to get my pedicure since Karen has left. She is not very good -- frequently forgets the procedure (like wiping the nails with alcohol so the color will stay on). She does the massage very well - not painful as it usually is. But the color usually comes off quicker and she does not cut out the cuticles really thoroughly (I have ingrowns on my big toes - I need a more thorough job). So, I think I will switch read more

Initially I was skeptical because the manicurist did a little clean up after the gel polish was finished, but it lasted the whole two weeks and then some. I like this place because they are fast and not too expensive. I actually found them after i got my teeth done down the stret and my mouth was numb so i wanted to kill some time before socializing. It varies a bit from one nail tech to the next, but I've had manicures last for up to a week without chipping--and let's just say I'm not exactly "dainty" when it comes to preserving my nails. There's a bit of a language barrier at times, but overall the staff is friendly and pretty meticulous. There's generally some cell phone chatting by the staff during the manicure but that doesn't count as a negative for me personally and it doesn't seem to detract from their work. This was the worst shellac manicure that I have even received. I almost refused to pay for it. I was prepped poorly by one nail tech, my nails were jagged and misshaped. Then they brought out a two-hand uv light which made the polishing very awkward and the heat from the lamp was uncomfortable. The polish job was uneven and looks like it has finger prints in it. My index finger is already peeling off and this service was done less than two hours ago. I should have expected as much from a $25 shellac. Quick, quality, and (relatively) cheap work in Brookline. I went here with three girlfriends for a pre-Commencement Ball mani-pedi, and as soon as the four of us walked in, we were escorted to four pedicure chairs (the massaging kind...really nice, although mine was a bit rough, like a Swedish massuese with an agenda), and four nail technicians immediately descended upon our toes. Pedicure was good, not overly long, and my toes looked really cute when they were done (and I think it was only $20). My manicure turned out great too...my nail tech wasn't too quick to file down the one or two freakishly long nails that I had managed to grow out (ladies, you know what mean...you bite your nails, but somehow, one or two of your nails manages to become long and beautiful, and you're proud of these one or two freakishly long nails, but you're unbelievably disappointed when the lady at the nail salon decides to file them down so that all your nails are uniformly ugly again). Anyhow, she somehow shaped my nails in such a way that they all looked longer than they really were, and the mani really held up for several days, despite my abuse to it. The only negative thing was that one of the nail techs was semi-obnoxious and kept pushing my friend to get one of those weird little flower designs on her nail (for an additional $5). She kept pushing so much that my friend just gave in, and then felt like a real sucker for having a tiny little flower drawn on her nail. We made reservations a few days in advance but apparently that doesn't matter as we had to wait a half hour when we were on time. Pedicure and manicure were fine, nothing special but after my pedicure the woman who had done mine and left and I had to wait 45 minutes for someone to do my manicure. During this people walked in without reservations and they got their manicures done before me. My friend ended up having to wait 45 minutes for my manicure to be done. I also don't think they know much about how to do gel manicures. I wanted a French manicure with a pink as the base an they said it could not be done and they could only do the clear/tan for French. They get a two star only because the mani/pedi came out fine and wasn't too expensive but I would never go back. read more
