I had to wait for help when I walked into the store. I suppose I had to just wait my turn. I was looking for a white shirt, winter coat and gloves. I just ended up with a white shirt. I was looking for winter cloths and notices that their inventory was limited. It looked like they had items on their website which were not in the store. Even their tie selection looked limited. I always get my cloths at Brooks Brothers because I have never has problem with any of their cloths and I know what I am going to get. We felt so comfortable and Ian even made sure my three year old daughter was happy by bringing out some treats for her. It was so nice to be treated so well even though we were not dressed up and even had a kid in tow. Chestnut Hill Sales Manager (short, Asian woman) - knows nothing about customer service. When I picked up a custom ($1,400) suit three weeks ago, my wife purchased a $200 sweater. Went in yesterday to buy a shirt, they didn't have my size but my wife decided she wanted the same sweater in a different color (2nd $200 sweater). She noticed it was 30% off, as well. So I asked the manager, since it's less than 30 days, can you give me a credit on the sweater we already purchased. She rudely and loudly proclaimed that the policy is only 7 days for a price adjustment, and that my wife already wore the sweater so that I couldn't do a refund/re-purchase either. I tried to explain to her that as a manager she should see the big picture. She continued to proclaim that the policy is 7 days. My wife asked for a copy of the receipt for the previous purchase, went to the Natick store (much better store, much better customer experience, the people there truly care about the customer) - and the manager there gave me the 30% credit for the prior purchase, we bought the 2nd sweater with the 30% discount, as well. We will be going back to Natick and not to Chestnut Hill. We will tell 10 people, and they will tell 10 people.....and you know how the rest goes. Chestnut Hill manager won't care because she thinks she gets all the foot traffic there - but how long will it take for Corporate to get wind of her not being able to see the big picture? Again, did I mention I purchased a $1,400 suit, there? Oh by the way, Tatyana is great at the Chestnut Hill in terms of knowing her role as a tailor, made to measure expert. But she shouldn't stack five appointments at the same time so that the customer feels rushed, and with that kind of money being spent not feeling like they have 100% of her attention. read more

I've abandoned Brooks Brothers, in favor of Ivy League style clothing of excellent quality, accompanied by excellent customer service, at J. Press, in New Haven, Connecticut. The experience, as a "(J. Press) customer," is worth the drive to New Haven, and is far superior to Brooks Brothers. In my opinion, Brooks Brothers has deteriorated to an all-time low. Shame on the knuckleheads at Citi, and Brooks Brothers, who cancelled my credit card (without notice!) for inactivity. That left Brooks Brothers with a defected, third-generation customer, and a gone-forever customer. read more

I tend to have very low expectations when I am in any sort of a retail encounter. Let's be frank about the average employee at a retail store: they aren't working there because that's their dream job. Because of that, I usually expect retail employees to not really give a shit about the customer. So if you even pretend like you care about me when I'm a customer, I'm inclined to like you a lot. Even with these insanely low standards, the Brooks Brothers location in Chestnut Hill Mall manages to fail. In mid-December 2013, my better half took a pair of sunglasses to this location because it was a gift, and she was given the wrong model. Instead of the larger sunglasses, she simply wanted to exchange them for the smaller version of the same style. Simple right? Except when she walked in and asked the sales staff whether they had any stock of the smaller size, she was flippantly told "No, there is only one size of those sunglasses." Pet peeve #58: When someone tells you, as fact, something that you know not to be true. And then continues to insist that you are wrong. The conversation continues as follows: Customer: "I was just in another Brooks Brothers location and tried on the smaller size." Brooks Brothers dipshit salesman: "Sorry, they only made one size in those sunglasses." Customer: "Hold on... [pulls up Brooks Brother website and finds the other size]... here is the item I am looking for." Brooks Brothers dipshit salesman: "That is an online only item." Customer: "Hold on... [pulls up phone number for another Brooks Brother location, calls them on speakerphone, and asks if they have the other size." Brooks Brother salesman in other location: "Yes, we have that pair of sunglasses. Can we put them on hold for you?" Brooks Brothers dipshit salesman: "Umm, I think that's a store specific model." At this point, my thought to myself was "Fuck, imagine what life as this guy's girlfriend must be like. She probably has a drinking problem." So the store gets 2 stars (and not 1) because after this debacle, the dipshit salesman's manager walks to the sunglasses section of the store, opens a drawer, and locates the other size and does an exchange without a hitch. It only took an extra 10 minutes, and much aggravation, but I suppose if we got what we came for, the store can't get 1 star right? read more

I've been a brooks brothers client for over 60 years. After they closed the Boston Berkeley I went elsewhere. Recently I went to get 2 pairs of pants. Very bad experience! When they came in I was measured by a Taylor. Came to pick them up and they were 8 to 10 inches too long. Returned them for credit. Ordered 1 different pair. Same story. Too long after alterations. I asked to have them shipped to me after new alterations. She would not ship them. I asked to return them for a credit or refund.I was told that they wouldn't give a refund because they were altered. I visited this store for the first time the other day, and I was impressed on many levels, from the staff, to the customer service, to the design and organization...it was all pleasing to the eye, and a very satisfying experience. My first impression was the layout and organization of the store, which I was very impressed with. Each area has it's own section, so you can browse and get consultation on suits in it's own room without all the other floor traffic. Women even have their own section, which is probably comfortable and convenient for them. I was also incredibly impressed with the staff, from the sales associates to the managers, they dress to fit the brand, they're professional and friendly, and very knowledgable about the product. When you're in a high end quality store like Brooks Brothers, it's important to feel like the sales staff knows the product inside and out and can assist you in making educated and informed decisions. You feel like that in this store. Overall, I really loved this store and my experience there. I felt comfortable, at ease, and enjoyed my shopping experience. It's easily one of the brightest marks in the chestnut hill mall...I will certainly be back! read more

Really disappointing experience there today. The fiance and I went in basically ready to spend money. As in $400 on a suit, $75 on a shirt, and a bunch of ties for him and the wedding party men. We walked out with none of this. The reason? No customer service. Not one word. Just some glances askance and that's about it. I would hate to think that this has anything to do with the fact that I am marrying a Latino man (a handsome, well-dressed, poised one at that), as the staff here at BB was actually pretty diverse. I got a lukewarm welcome from the Brooks Brothers. The guy measuring me took a quick measurement which ended up being two sizes off. He wound up suggesting pretty bland looking suits and they certainly weren't cheap. When I asked him how much the suit was going to come up to, he shot me a grumpy look and his attitude definitely changed after that. The reviews here are extremely polar so I think it really depends on what your needs are. If you're just going in to buy a shirt or tie that is in stock, and you just need them to ring you up, then I suppose you'll be fine. Just don't go home and write a 5-star review because they scanned the barcode on a white dress shirt and asked for your credit card. Also, keep in mind we are talking about the service here - we already know their suits and non-iron shirts are the best in the business. And if you don't know, now you know... Anyways. Do you remember the scene in Pretty Woman where Julia Roberts is heckled out of a store, and then returns holding thousands of dollars in merchandise from other stores? Well that pretty much sums up Brooks Brothers Chestnut Hill. As a disclaimer, I've been wearing Brooks Brothers since I started working almost 10 years ago. My entire wardrobe except jeans and shoes is Brooks Brothers. I spend a few thousand dollars on their website annually between their 2 big sales in the winter and spring. I went in last week to try on suits during their 25% off sale. The suits I was looking at cost $1300 each. After a solid half hour of getting no service, I went home to place the order and pay shipping. Another time I went to return a sweater I ordered online, and was told they couldn't process my return because I didn't have my Brooks Brothers card on me. They literally told me to drive home and come back with it. I told this story anecdotally to another salesperson at another location and he said all they have to do is call - no need to have sent me home. The only benefit to going to a brick and mortar Brooks Brothers store is that they waive the shipping if they don't have what you want in stock. The fulfillment center is in Enfield, CT so you'll get your order in 2 days tops. Just don't expect to be in and out during the course of a typical lunch break. Some helpful tips I've learned: 1.) Pull up their website on your iPhone and show them what you want. It's way faster than having them try to figure out their own catalog. 2.) If you use your Brooks Brothers Mastercard, be sure to have it on you if you need to make a return. 3.) Make sure you try on a shirt or suit jacket before you buy it if you've never shopped here before - they are usually a couple inches off on the sleeve length. 4.) Never use in-store tailoring unless you want your pants to become capris. Bring them to a tailor you trust. If you don't have one, welcome to Yelp. I'd have to say the Natick store is the best in this area. I typically avoid Newbury Street at all costs. read more

Part of my day job, while not formally, requires me to wear dress shirts, slacks, blazers and tie sparingly. Brooks Brothers is the man staple of clothing collection in my closet. This store has just recently been re done and looks sharp. My guess is that this is just the look they are going for with their store design. NICE JOB. I have shopped at the Brooks Brothers outlet and while you can get good deals the quality is very different. I have come to the conclusion that while getting shirts and an occasional sweater at the outlet is a good idea I think that I am going to step up and buy jackets and suits only from the main store. The garments appear to be mad much better and have a high standard of quality control. Sometime I get a conflicting emotion when shopping at Brooks Brothers. Call it a fantasy or a nightmare but sometimes I feel like an "old money" Yankee shopping at Brooks Brothers. But when I get home and review my checking account and see the stack of cc bills a I am quickly reminded that there is no family trust in my name. As soon as I newly opened the Brooks card, I tried to purchase a few stuff online to get 15% off, but the 15% discount wasn't applicable in checking out. I tried it all day but it didn't work out! Next day, I called Brooks Brothers in Chestnut Hill MA regarding this issue. A senior store manager, Bruce helped me as a new card opener get through all complicate process by contacting the credit card company. He helped me get 15% off and use my $20 reward as well. After two days, I received my orders via FedEx, packed all nicely. Bruce also mailed me the copy of receipt and a nice "Thank you" card separately. All arrived the same day. My wife and I came back to the Brooks Brothers at The Chestnut Hill mall more than a year after purchasing my suits for the wedding. Gary, The stellar fashion Jedi, remembered us by name and assisted me in finding three amazing shirts that I can use for work and for play. One of the shirts was not in stock so he took over twenty minutes to research and find the shirt and will have it mailed to my house. That is excellent customer service and that is why I come back to this Brooks Brothers. I like going to a store and saying I need three shirts pick them out for me and 95% of the time Gary picks out the best looking shirts for my body structure with the best materials at the best price. read more

Brooks Brothers - Another successful trip to Brooks Brothers - Men's Clothing Near Me - Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts

I have been a Brooks Brothers customer for over twenty years. I only wear Brooks Brothers suits because they are well made and last a long time. For the past twenty years, I have purchased my suits at the Brooks Brothers store on Newbury Street in Boston or at the Brooks Brothers store on State Street in Boston. Each of these stores has a good selection of suits. The customer service at each of these two stores has always been excellent. In October 2017, I decided to buy two new suits at the Brooks Brothers store in the Chestnut Hill Mall. I shall not go back to this store ever again. I bought two suits - and was charged for them - on or about October 18. They did not have my size in stock and so had to order the suits from other Brooks Brothers locations (one of which was out-of-state). The suits did not arrive at the store until mid-November. I went in for a fitting on or about November 11. I was told that the suits would be ready in early December and that I would receive a phone call when they were ready to be picked up. I never received a phone call. Indeed, I had to call the store repeatedly to find out if my suits were ready. Over a period of several days I called six times. Four times that I called - at noontime when the store was open - no one answered. A fifth time that I called someone picked up the phone and then hung up immediately. The final time that I called, on December 29, I did get a salesperson. The person was cold and abrupt on the phone - he told me that my suits were in. So, I went to pick them up that day. When I arrived, the salesperson again was cold and indifferent to my presence. He got my suits and handed them to me without so much as a word (e.g. - thanks for spending $1,500 at my store; or have a nice day). I do want to note that the two suits that I bought fit perfectly & live-up to the quality that I have always expected from Brooks Brothers. Brooks Brothers suits are worth the expense. But I expect to receive them in fewer than TWO MONTHS and with a modicum of professional pleasantry. Next time I will go back to the State Street store. read more

Went out to this BB store to buy a couple of pairs of pants and shirts. By 7:30pm on a weeknight, the mall and store were dead, so I pretty much had the run of the place. Very impressed with my salesman, David. He was very attentive and clearly knew his merchandise. Got me set up with everything I needed and for the item that wasn't in stock, he placed the order over the phone while I waited. FYI, this is a great option for ordering catalog items as they are shipped directly to your home at no charge. Anyway, the only blemish was a point where the salesman was engaged in a lengthy conversation with another employee while I sort of meandered around, waiting for them to wrap up. Not a big deal, but not really interested in their personal business. Definitely will do my BB shopping at this location going forward to avoid Boston parking hassles and costs. Aluminum Chefs, C and T, hits it on the nose in his review. Brooks Brothers is very good at what they do, the products are nice and safely high quality, but there is a certain corporate aroma that diffuses into the traditional atmosphere they are trying to project. The flagship Newbury street store is much more authentic architecturally. However, all that said, the chestnut hill BB is a solid choice for mens clothing, if you ignore the corporate motherships attempts at aping Ralph Lauren Rugby (aka Red Fleece) or being fashionable (aka Black Fleece) you may find clothing worth buying. The Chestnut Hill store also has a much larger selection than the Natick Mall store. I do give a shout out to Mr. Marrow who is very sharp and able to quickly diagnose what you need and how you should achieve it, especially in made to measure shirts. read more

I'm writing this realistic review to balance out some of the others here which - frankly - appear to be about an entirely different store than the one I know all too well. First off, let me say that I am a long-time Brook's Brother's shopper, both in-store and on-line.These comments apply only to the Chestnut Hill store which, much to my misfortune, is the closest to my house. I have had much more favorable experiences at both the State Street and Newbury Street stores. Contrary to the experiences of a number of others here, this is uniformly one of the most annoying stores of any type to patronize. The staff seem to be trained in customer avoidance, since it is extraordinarily rare for any of them to engage customers or to even say hello. In most cases, you have to seek out service and then it is only grudgingly given: no hello, no smile, no thank you, no nothing! Think this is hyperbole? Go find out for yourself. On my most recent visit (this weekend), absolutely no assistance was given in finding product, even after I requested help - it was truly breathtaking! I contrast this with a later interaction with a Bloomingdale's employee down the hall who went all over the men's department looking for shirts for me. The contrast was stunning. I can only hope that Brooks Brother's management reads these reviews, 'cause the Chestnut Hill culture is rotten to the core. read more

I went in recently to exchange a pair of pants for my boyfriend. In the middle of my transaction, a manager (tall woman with an accent) came up to the associate I was working with and began pressuring him about the time off he had requested. First of all, he's working with me and as a customer, I don't want to wait as two employees have an inside conversation. Secondly, I find it highly inappropriate that I had to witness a manager badgering an associate over his time off, which had already been approved. I could feel the associate was uncomfortable, which made me uncomfortable. This conversation should have waited until the associate was finished helping a customer. I've just called the store as the pants that were to be shipped to my house never came. The same woman answered the phone. As I was getting out my first sentence she rudely interrupted me. She did not ask for any information regarding my purchase. I was placed on hold for several minutes before another person picked up. This person was given no information on question by the woman who put me on hold. It seems that maybe the poor attitude stems from the managers here. The associates have been helpful. read more

Small store without much selection and staff that don't care. Asked the older male salesman on a Saturday afternoon to try on a folded dress shirt and without explanation was given another shirt of the same fit by the store worker and told to try that on. Said I know the fit from other 'Regent' shirts that I own and want to try on this particular shirt and was told 'the shirts are hard to repackage' so I was told to just hold up the folded shirt in front of myself in front a mirror. Needless to say I put the shirt back and left. I hope the effort saved not having to refold that shirt was worth the loss of a sale and a customer for life. Tad sn00ty, but then again most things in this mall are upscale and the noses are pointed in the same direction. The store itself is nice, redone as mentioned and has a bigger ladies section (read; store has a larger area for ladies-wear, not a section for plus size women). You get the hardcore classic stuff up in this piece, argyle sweater vests and thick oxford shirts in every shade of blue imaginable. I stay away from that stick up yer butt republican crap. They do have awesome non-iron button up shirts which are freakin perfect for the lazy schmuck who doesn't wanna iron, in classic cuts and of a thin texture (nice for summertime). Get em long sleeve and short sleeve and you'll be cool and sylin at the office with zero effort. A win win situation. Now go tell Muffy to warm up the Prius. read more

The WORST Brooks Brothers for women in the Boston Area. Very limited selections from the line, only clothes for old dumpy women with sallow skin, none of the cool stuff I'd want to wear to work. And, never once has any salesperson helped me or even spoken to me at this location. It's too bad because I usually buy online but you have to go into the store since they don't put everything online, and shirts wear out, so you have to buy a few new ones every few months. I'm at this location once a month so it would be so easy to just get my shopping done here, but unfortunately I've tried and I have never been able to find anything worth even trying on here. Just picked a new suit out there about 2 weeks ago. Gregory Ahearn was the employee who was assisting me. He was extremely helpful and helped me pick out the perfect suit along with making some amazing suggestions for new shirts, ties, and pants. I used to go to this store a lot from a young age, but hadn't been in about 5 or 6 years and I must say, it looks even better than it did before (which I didn't think possible). The renovations they've made to the store give it a much more open feel. It's expensive (it's Brooks Brothers), but it's certainly worth every penny, in my opinion. read more

No amount of "In-Store Only!" discount will get me to set foot in this godless hellscape again. They do get two stars for knowing about clothes. But it's impossible to get in and out of the store without losing a lot of time (and your soul). It's like being in a comedy movie where evil, plotting sales-people are trying every trick in the book to stall you. "Yes, I agree pants in a fit X would work best, Fit Y would surely not work and let me pointlessly tell you 34 things about this pair of pants you expressed no interest in." Part of the problem appears to be Brooks Brothers' corporate systems, which apparently haven't been updated since 1890. Special order item not in inventory? It involves asking all your personal info and writing it down on paper, then calling someone and reading off the info from the paper, finding a garment to get style code, then waiting to ask a cell-phone chatting salesperson to find a different garment to get the color code, etc. etc. etc. read more

They are fine for shirts and pants. Their suits are ok if you buy off the rack. The tailoring is horrible. I bought some off the rack and they had to be tailored 3 times. It took an hour each time because they have no one to help. The pants to the suit still didn't fit right after 3 visits. I told them their standard pants off the rack fit better and when I tried them on they agreed. They ended up rebuilding pants with the standard rack specs. I just had made to measure sports jacket made and it came out about 2 sizes too big. They said that was common but I am not sure that's true. I understand some adjustment but it looked way off. Bought 2 very expensive suits for my son. Brooks Brothers tailor took measurements to alter. After tailoring, the pants were too short, both jackets still big. Bought back for a second round of alterations. Jackets still too big. Brought them to a professional tailor who altered jackets as well as pants that he also felt were too big. Before moving out to San Francisco in august I knew I needed at least one great suit as I would be starting a finance job and would have to wear a suit every day fro the first time in my life. It's hard for me to find a suit that fits. I've lost a good amount of weight over the last couple of years, and in odd proportions: 10in off my waist, 4in off my chest. Because of this I found myself looking everywhere for suits. I went and bought a suit at Mens Wearhouse, one at Macys, one at Filenes Basement (YvenSaintLaurent for under $200!!) then decided I needed a good one. I naturally went to the store that has as far back as I can remember been to me the mark of the upper class. Within five minutes (maybe less) I saw it. Grey with light grey pinstripes, the right size, Italian cut (a novelty at Brooks Brothers) and $500 on sale from $1,000. I tried it on and it fit me perfectly. I bought, it, had them tailor it for me, I'm wearing it now and it is the best piece of clothing I have ever owned. The entire experience of buying a suit at BB took place within a half hour, unlike the hours I had spent at Macys or Mens Wearhouse where it dragged on excruciatingly. Oh my! I have been a loyal Brooks Brothers consumer since high school - so about 20 yrs now. The fit and quality of the wool and cashmere are reliable and superb. My experiences with the stores in Peabody and Chestnut Hill this holiday season were sub par. I was looking to buy the woman's cable cardigan $348; the first associate in Peabody did not offer to locate it for me, so I decided to call the Chestnut Hill store on my own. After being on hold and then transferred around, I finally got an associate. Without asking me what I was looking for, Maria told me to call her back in a few minutes. Brooks Brothers in Chestnut Hill = Fail. Bought two pairs of pants, left them to be hemmed and came back 2 weeks later to pick up. They put cuffs on them when I asked for no cuffs. So I had to wait another week and went back to pick up the fixed pants. When I got home I realized that one pair had a hole worn into them! As if the pants were shoved onto the end of a rack and just mashed over and over until a hole had chafed into them. Unbelievable. So I went back. The women assoc was very apologizing and promised me a new pair asap. I got measured for a new pair and when I was giving her details for where to send them (b/c I surely did not want to make another trip to the store) I noticed a big pen streak down the back pocket. At this point I asked that I be refunded. I was done with BB. The sales assoc. couldn't figure out how to refund me! 10 minutes at the computer - no luck! (and this turned her into an angry women from this point on) I was running short on time so I just picked another pair from the shelf, and told them to use those. They shipped them properly hemmed to me, but they were carelessly packed in a box way too large for a single pair of pants and were very wrinkled upon arrival. Very poor experience for a $150 pair of slacks! Never again BB, you fail. read more
