Food was delicious! Big portion to bring home for leftovers. The patio is a win for me. Tropical vibe and great music. Margaritas pitcher for $22 enough for a round of 5 people. HECK YEAH! Honestly, I would come back for the food and the patio. But not for the service. Hence, the three stars rating. Our server was not friendly. She checked up on us a few times. But she seems annoyed that we were there. We came there for a good time and didn't want her demeanor to ruin our experience. So we tried to chit chat with her to change up the mood, but that didn't change her attitude either. I get it if we gave her a hard time, but the attitude was already there before we sat down at our table. Many reviews for this place is low due to poor service. And I would have to agree after dining here tonight.

I've been here enough to have a solid opinion on Brookside Barrio: The location + patio are fantastic, the service and entrees are wildly inconsistent. If you could only come here for one thing, I'd recommend making it a happy hour with appetizers and drinks. Their spicy margarita is great and their chips and salsa are pretty good as well. Their patio is also right in Brookside and gets some good sun on those February/March afternoons when the temperature pops. It can be hard to get in here due to space, but if it's warm enough, they'll open up the garage doors and being inside feels like being outside. This spot has become known for service issues over the years, and I can confirm. Out of five visits, we've had things go somewhat smoothly once. Every other time we're hunting down the server to order, to get a check, or to get almost anything. I appreciate that they have a kids menu with some tasty quesadillas, and typically my kids enjoy it here. Very, very occasional spot for us but if you go in with some realistic expectations, it can be a fun spot.

My friends and I love going to this location with the happy hour choices being as good as they are and the drinks. Downside to going to this location is that flies are always everywhere, inside and outside smh so much so that even with good food and service, we aren't sure if it outweighs fighting all the flies each time.

This is the worst location, the service was bad, food was definitely not the same quality as the North KC or Red Bridge location. We sat in a booth and the walls were completely filthy, to where we almost got up but it was late and we were starving!

The ambiance and service made my dining experience at Barrio last night. The food was good , nothing too special but satisfied our Mexican food cravings nonetheless. The two marg pitchers we ordered were a little watered down, but ended up being plenty for our group of 7. Our server was very attentive, kept our waters filled, and chips and salsa refreshed. If nothing else, come here for the patio seating. It really is such a relaxing and inviting space with a lovely bar and ambient lighting. It made for a nice spot to catch up with some friends and family. The grilled shrimp tacos, shrimp fajitas, Birria tacos, and chips and salsa were favorites from our table.

What can I say - I was not overly impressed, but not overly disappointed either. I'd been wanting to try Brookside Barrio for a while, because it truly looks cozy and inviting from the outside. This weekend, we went for it. And it didn't quite live up to expectations. Service was pretty good, with a friendly waitress, and the kitchen catering to a vegan diet. I ordered the chicken street tacos and my sister ordered the street tacos and they subbed out the meat for veggies. The server wasn't immediately knowledgeable about substitution possibilities - we thought she was just going to get the tacos sans meat, but we were happy to see the platter come out with some additional fajita vegetables. I can only speak for my own food, but I didn't think the chicken tacos were all that good. The chicken in particular was mediocre. It felt like a deconstructed Qdoba bowl on a restaurant plate. But I ate it all, and it was fine. I can see myself trying Brookside Barrio again, but not with the same level of enthusiasm.

Brookside barrio was such a fun place to meet up with some friends. It was very busy but the staff were friendly and quick. The corn tortillas were a little dry but overall the meal was great!

I highly recommend Brookside Barrio if you're looking for a spot to grab a drink and a yummy bite to eat. I ordered the beer-battered shrimp tacos and a spicy margarita. We sat at the outdoor bar top and the service was super friendly and quick. We were always checked in on. They also had the TVs turned on with different sports game and the outdoor space has heaters. We will definitely be back!

Barrio had me an endless mimosas on a Saturday and Sundays for just $15!! We ended up ordering from the brunch menu and landed on the breakfast quesadilla with chorizo. It was absolutely the best breakfast quesadilla I've ever had and it came with a homemade sauce to dip it in. Our friend ordered the pork and egg enchiladas. She seemed to like those as well. We were also given chips and salsa to snack on throughout our time at Barrio. I will definitely be back for more endless mimosas very soon. It was one of my favorite Kansas City brunch spot that I've been to so far. Great service and cute area to shop at once you've finished your brunch.

First time here and the food was just okay, not terrible but also not the best Mexican food I've had. The vibes and music in this place made it a much better experience along with our attentive waiter. All of our food came out at once rather than the appetizers but I guess we didn't specify....

I just took a swing at it, picked up a menu, and stood there. It took a while for somebody to acknowledge that I was there. The person who took my order was super involved, which is cool, but they needed some help, and the person who came by to help them seemed to be rather impatient, so that was one of the first things I noticed. They do bring your food out in a reasonable amount of time, delivered to your table. You have a number that attaches to a metal wand that they give to you. So the water station is set up in the back, you get your own water, but they were out of cups. They had a really cool aesthetic to it, with like the garage door where you can see all the downtown. The only problem was that the sun went down, and it started to get rather cold. Nobody ever closed the door, but I ordered the Asada fries. 3/5 heavy on the seasoning, but not so much on the flavor, it came across. It's kind of salty. I thought it would be different than what it was. The portion size was fine, and the green sauce that they offer you on the side really makes it better. Also ordered the CHORI queso dip lied on the chorizo for the portion size. The flavor was also a three out of five. The chip that they give you with it has a nice, good texture and reasonable seasoning. My wife had the mushroom Tinga tacos. She gave him four out of five. She really enjoyed them. The atmosphere is cool. The weights staff are really cool. I'd consider coming back on a Thursday. They have this cool thing that you can try new and upcoming dishes, and then they also have brunch, so I'm thinking about giving them a second shot. The food was done at the quoted time and was accurate. The one individual I encountered was friendly. The menu was very straightforward-tacos, burritos, and a few other items, all can be customized. I had to get an order of chips and queso. I really liked their queso. It had good flavor and wasn't overly spicy. The chips were fresh and held up to the queso nicely. I'm definitely probably alway going to order this when I go. I also tried a taco with carne asada. The tacos are the street variety but they are really good sized. They don't skimp on the meat. And the carne asada was really good. No gristle or gross bits. It was chopped finely and I'd definitely order it again. I also had to try a burrito. I tried the El pastor for that and added on all the toppings-cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. I also opted for extra meat because it was super cheap-like $1, so why not? Again, I was not disappointed. I did throw my burrito on the good 'ol George Foreman when I got home because they don't grill it at all and I wanted some grill marks on that tortilla. Otherwise, the el pastor was flavorful and tender and the toppings were all fresh.
