The canoes and kayaks were in great shape and you can tell they have been cleaned. The staff was helpful and interact great with children. We went on a 7 mile trip and it was fantastic. The river was clean and not difficult to navigate. We saw alot of turtles, birds, fish, and other wildlife. The whole adventure was peaceful and relaxing. I am looking forward to trying their other locations.

Service was a little spotty, but they were very busy and it has a relaxed atmosphere, so it was fine. Good crowd of nice people and families, not too snooty or pretentious. I was seated on the outside patio that was so relaxing and had an excellent view of the lake and all of the boats buzzing around on the lake. Boat rentals are available and pretty affordable.

I thought I saw a beaver but in looking at pics it was a huge rat in the water eeek. But today only birds, turtles and dragonflies. Had hoped to see beaver or snakes but no luck. saw cedar waxwings but they were turned away so not the best pics and when I repositioned they flew away. sighhh. I got there late in the day and was already tired but it was a perfect weather day and got 2 days worth of steps in, but you have to be patient and bit lucky.

My family,…read moreincluded, so going to the preserve and museum has been on my to do list for a long time but always felt weird. Finally, I saw they were hosting tours of the museum and I drove out. It's a beautiful preservation. I was informed by my wonderful tour guide who I believe was named Penny, that there have been over two hundred different bird species spotted on the grounds. You cannot bring dogs there. The tour was fantastic and my tour guide could not have been better. The museum starts with acknowledging the families the land was taken from with eminent domain and goes through life at the plant. They have the video about duck and cover playing in a little fake living room. You can search records if you know someone who worked there. Lots of stuff. There's also a conference room free for nonprofits. I thought the museum would disappoint me. And I do wish it acknowledged the people who lived there more but my tour guide was really thoughtful in that respect and I'm so glad I met her. She took me on a tour of the land where the debris was encased that's now sectioned off with fencing, too. They are not, as of this date, allowed to have a Facebook so finding their events can be challenging but definitely worth it if you have any interest is local history or military history, the cold water or uranium clean up or just nature. I learned a lot and definitely will go back.

I wasn't sure since it's clearly a mini destination spot in the area and we weren't going to get there until later in the evening if we would even find any but sure enough we found tons of great fossils! We picked our favorites and left the rest for others. The space is so large there were two or three other groups there at the same time as us and we didn't bump into or even see each other for a long while there! Loads of parking as well. Worth the stop for sure!

Seems out of place but is actually really cool. I always see the guys driving their remote control cars over the rocks. There's different fossil sections and some educational reading to describe what you're seeing. A good place to bring kids or just sit and look at the view of the city around you, since it's at the top of a hill. Would return.

I remember my mom drove the old elkaminoe into the back lake on memorial weekend but they pulled it out we had a day left it dried out and fired right up !! The people up at the bait house remember every time me and my husband go in they remember I was 12 when my mom did that and now I come with my own kids and just me and hubby after the girls went to college. It's so pretty and peaceful and my husband loves battling those big cats in the front lake! Cant say enough about this lake it really is a very nice place with very humble great down to earth people in the office and even fishing around the lake I've never ran into no bad problems. Saying that, this place is SMALL and all the fields are very close together so balls fly around everywhere. Seating is hard and limited as well. They do have bleachers though. The fenced around the fields are pretty low so foul balls come out a lot. They have a field called Little Fenway, which is cute. Parking can be tight as well since there isn't a lot of it. The concession stand was affordable and they accepted Venmo. Overall a nice tournament weekend at this field.

Took an hour trip up in 750 acre woods up hills down hills through creeks and even through the river. This is about riding and being in nature. Loved it will be back!! I would like to addres Sarah C complaint. First, this year alone many pay lakes and lakes here…read more around that time had turnovers or attempted turn overs, this lake was no different. Especially around the time you wrote about. Some of the best ones around almost lost all their fish. This happened due to lack of rain moving fresh water into the lake( were in a drought pattern), not enough light reaching the plants in the bottom of the lakes, and causing the plants to die off, lowering the O2 level for the fish. When fish can't get the o2 from plants dying and lack of o2 they come to the top and die. I have fished here many times and I have found the office people and the owner to be very helpful and very nice. They provide fire wood for you to burn in a barrel, other places I have to buy or bring my own, , some shanties to get in if it rains and snows....While the chanties are older, they stil provide shelter when needed. At a time when the other paylakes are closed for the season, this lake is open 24/7, and for me that totally rocks. The admission is only 10$, and if I only wish to fish a few hours, I am not out alot of money. If you have any problems, the other fishermen and women are very nice and helpful, and have helped each other. You even get to see the pet cat looking around for someone to give her some fish..... While it isn't picture perfect, you can catch some huge fish, and some not huge fish.... but at least you know you had a good time! Oh and did I mention they are OPEN 24/7!!!! that is the best part. park in your truck throw in a line and wiat for the big blues to get YA!
