This little quaint shop is quickly becoming my favorite local dessert shop! There is no aesthetic packaging or branding here, they just sell really good Korean-style French baked goods. I particularly like their madeleines and financiers. I've gotten boxes to bring as hostess' gifts too and everyone loved them!

Variety of pastries, every single one delicious. The service is friendly. Ambiance, it's got discounted, validated parking. I recommend the delicious and tasteful basque cheesecake!!! However, every item they sell is delicious. We also get and the strawberry matcha.

We went yesterday in the late afternoon. I agree that this place is known for the Caneles, not cookies. I'm giving an extra star because I came in with my six-year-old and was offered a free chocolate chip cookie that was smaller than the rest of the batch. I tend to like underdone cookies and this one was over baked and had a ratio with more dry ingredients. This was my first Canele and it was amazing. It was crispy and caramelized on the outside and moist on the inside kind of like a firmer bread pudding. It had a good strong Matcha flavor with cream at the top. The strawberry Matcha Financier was good.

Earl grey canele. Phenomenal.

Respectfully, Brown Bag Cookies needs a new name--because their canelé deserves the center stage. It is the textbook definition of what a canelé should be: a beautifully crisp, caramelized exterior with a soft, buttery, and flavorful interior. If you know, you know how hard it is to find a truly good canelé... and this one absolutely delivers. I picked up a box as a gift and my friend couldn't stop raving about them either. Where have you been all my life? Officially my go-to canelé spot in LA.

First time coming here, it's located in the plaza with Halal Guys in Koreatown. Parking in the back, which the store is also located on the side of the parking structure. The parking structure is also so high-tech?? It records your license plate and phone number and everything too, which is kind of scary that it knows so much lol. I mainly came here to buy pastries for a party, which 4 were the strawberry matcha, ube, black sesame, and jasmine fanciers, this hojicha madeleine, and this vanilla cream item. Honestly, the black sesame fancier was sooooo good! The black sesame cream was soooo yum. I honestly only ate that LOL and I got to try the hojicha one which was also pretty good, soft and the crispy texture on the outer rim. I was too full to try anything else, but my favorite was the black sesame. I enjoyed how they were all not too sweet either. I would say the fianciers are priced reasonably, but the other smaller items are kinda pricy for what it is. It's a small bakery, just grab and go. They still had a bunch of selections when I went around 4pm, so they likely wont sell out of any items in the later evening.

As on Oct 2025, this parking lot is under new managment I believe. Extremely expensive. Before I entered I caught a glimpse of the cost. 15.99 for the first 30 minutes. That's as crazy as DTLA. As you enter, there are cameras by the gates that will automattically scan your liscene plate, no more tickets. I went into the bakery and out as quickly as possible. By the cash regiester, there is a QR code, you will scan it, and this bakery will give you 100% off discount on parking for ONLY 30 MINUTES! With that QR code, you will be asked to input your liscence plate number and it will tell you how long you have left for free validation. The gates will automatically scan your liscnece plate as you head out! The pastries weren't too sweet, just the right amount. Though I would say these pastries are more on the dense side. I thought they were alright, nothing too crazy. But their matcha caneles vs their OG, the matcha one tasted better. Their financiers are good but the ube one had an aftertaste of flower. This place is extremely small and is a grab and go situation!

I was confused the Brown Bag cookies seemed to have mostly little pastries. Ordered 3 caneles(matcha, ube, banana) and I was confused they had no flavor except for the outside that tasted like burnt sugar (Carmelized crust) that overpowered the middles only tasted the Carmelization. Did I order the wrong items? There are too many other places to try won't be back.

Located in the heart of ktown on Wilshire I decided to stop by after grabbing coffee to see what kind of pastries/cookies this place offered. Been around for 3 years and it felt like I had just discovered it. Place is small, meant for ordering and leaving. They offer drinks/coffee/pastries/cookies/scones you name it. They have a really wide variety of flavors of each different type of pastries which are really tasty and not too sweet. They are Korean owned so it's not gonna be ultra sweet I haven't tried their drink so no comment on that. Tried the macadamia cookie which seemed really dense at first, but it was actually really delicious and not too sweet at all. Perfect balance. Have to try the other ones that I bought that are currently still sitting in my fridge, but will update when I try them. Parking is a bit difficult you only have street options. So try going when it's not that busy.

Love the varieties choice of pastries! I love the way it's not too sweet. Staff was really helpful No space to sit down, only grab and go.

Super impressed by this local gem! I tried their salted choco cookie, ube coconut canele and hojicha financier and all were delicious, balanced (not overly sweet) and baked perfectly! Especially the ube canele... I could eat a half a dozen of those... crunchy outside and soft and chewy inside with a hint of ube and coconut flavor. Service was fast and friendly in this small but cozy spot. If you're looking for this it's on the backside of the building on the other side of bon shabu so it's not visible from the main street. No tables but there is a standing counter if you want to have your treats and/or drink for a quick break.

I really wanted to love this bakery but it can be a hit or miss depending on your taste preferences. We were in the area and decided to try this place because it had so many good reviews. Located in a big gated plaza, parking is not free but they validate for up to 2 hours. It's a small bakery so it can get tight when its busy. Everything looked delicious so we decided to try most of the items. Financiers - Fig & Cream Cheese (6/10), Orange Blossom (8/10) my favorite- we got a fresh batch right out the oven and they were so good! Classic Canele - it was okay, the rum flavor was too strong for my liking Crème brulee Pound Cake - it was a little too dry Tiramisu - very strong coffee flavor, if that is your preference then its good to try! Overall its a good bakery to try. It was a little pricey, we spent about $60 for a box of pastries.

$3.50 for one canele!! cheaper than in-sit! ill preface this by saying that there are NO SEATS. only takeout. a grab and go situation. however, the pastries were so well made and worth visiting!! all their pastries and sweets were one of a kind and their caneles were so crunchy but soft like bread pudding on the inside. DEFINITELY coming back. highly recommend to try any of their caneles. the creme brulee pound cake started off dry but the more i ate it, the more it grew on me. compliments to the baker! matcha tasted a bit off? a subtle onion flavor. i tried the classic as well but so far, banana canele takes the cake!

Parking: free street parking, pay attention to the signs, not all of them is free. Cute little place. No place to sit. Restroom: ask for key, it's around the bldg. So many choices. We got few things: Black sesame latte Cloud kyoto cold brew Earl Grey Madeleine Lemon madeline Several different cookies Overall taste is nice. I wish I can get the financiers and canelle. But she said it has to stay cold. We have to go other places and out all day.

I've seen people here working on their laptop and groups of people around one table so the vibe is chill and friendly. It also depends on what time of day you come. Weekends usually get packed. As for the drinks and food. What we've had here has always been good. Best to eat their Croffle and baked goods there. Although Matcha is not for my liking, I'm more for their Taro Drink. B says the Matcha here is one of the better ones she's had. I have to agree even their Matcha Ice Cream is good. We get is the Matcha Croffle + Ice Cream, Matcha Einspanner, Taro Einspanner, and their cakes. Only thing I knocked down a star is because Not all the workers know the answers to your questions of what is in what food item or if you can substitute the milks. So that's something Cafe Upper should train all staff. Especially if people have food allergies.

Personally, I don't like that style, I was hoping the original would change that for me! Long story short, I didn't like the Walnut Chocolate Chip. I personally just don't like that style still, so I'll chalk it up as a "me" problem. The cooked part was good. The Rocky Road was cooked through. It was an amazing baked good with good flavor and add-ins. Between the roasted almond slices and fudgey chocolate chips, I was enjoying it immensely. A highlight of my day for sure. If you love underbaked cookies, Levain is your cookie shop! I don't and they had something for me too!

Based on my memories, this LA location keeps it consistent with a similar taste and texture as the NY location. 3.5/5 Chocolate Chip Walnut: This cookie was tall and slightly undercooked in the middle. The middle was a bit on the squishy side, and crunchy on the outside. Due to the undercooked quality, it's not a cookie I'd get regularly, though I am a big chocolate chip cookie fan. 5/5 Rocky Road: This was delicious. I'm not usually a marshmallow fan, but the addition of this ingredient formed a nice chewy consistency that I expect from a cookie. Chocolatey tidbits were well melted into the cookie texture and produced some fudgey notes. The cookie sizes are large and potentially shareable, and feel like an every once in awhile treat.

We've seen all the viral fruit pastries online, and were so excited to try them. When we got in, we were able to see all of the options on display and they had a big menu telling you exactly what was in each one. You order off of a kiosk, which makes it incredibly easy to order. Almost all of our pastries were ready before we had even left the kiosk, which was great! I went with the mango and the peach, both of which were fantastic! The shortbread cookie underneath both was delicious, the mango mousse and filling tasted so fresh and amazing. The peach had an Earl Grey cream and fresh peach chunks as well. Both were in the classic white chocolate shell. These are so cute, fun to eat, very refreshing, and not overly sweet. The shop itself is adorable, plenty of seating, great decor and the staff was super friendly and very nice!
