I engaged Brown and Dahan for a spousal modification case, and unfortunately, the experience was highly disappointing. From the onset, their communication fell short of the promised 24-hour response time. I sent many emails that went un-replied to. I hired Nancy Dahan to represent me, after my ex-husband who was under a court order for alimony abruptly stopped paying his obligated support. Shortly in, they transferred me to another attorney without any notification to take over my case. This attorney was not mentioned on their website and it was never discussed that she would be on my case. This new attorney and and I had been working together for months but she too had terrible communication. She had two "emergencies" that led to unfulfilled appointments. Their form of communication for this was via email only. My court date was cancelled due to another "emergency" the day before and I was notified by email at 4pm the afternoon before. This was on July 4th weekend. Nancy Dahan apologized via email and stated she could talk to me via a phone call on the holiday the next day to strategized. I thanked her for taking the time to relieve my stress and waited the entire day after cancelling my July 4th plans due to stress, but the call never came. I waited several days and I still did not hear from her. I did however, email her to let her know I was disappointed that not only did she not follow up with me on July 4th as she had offered, but days had gone by and she still did not initiate any form of communication. She did not address or even apologize for her lack of follow-through. As my case progressed, I repeatedly had to ask the same questions through email due to the lack of response. At one point my emailed was addressed as "third attempt." The attorney I had spent months working with abruptly left the firm, and I was informed of this major change via email, which seemed inadequate for such news. Throughout the entire process, I had to initiate every conversation, and phone calls were nearly impossible to arrange, except when they were collecting more money. The only time there was any real effort was when Nancy Dahan called to push for a settlement. I had just spent 9 months and an absorbent amount of money and was not willing to settle. She had never mentioned settling from the start but told me a "discovery" needed to be had. I was never given any information though I repeatedly asked, what was exactly discovered in the so called "discovery" that I was told needed to happen. She did make an attempt to get me to settle alongside a team of 3 on a conference call to me. Less then 48 hours before the hearing, I felt they were pressuring me to settle. At that point I was so frustrated and did not feel the very team I had hire to protect and to represent my best interest had my back. This was actually more stressful then the alimony modification Itself. I stood my ground and stated I wanted my day in court. What was another 2k at that point. At that moment, I felt I wanted to walk in to my hearing and just represent myself. This is when the real shift happened. I stated that I would see her in court. She gave me nothing to prepare for that. Once she knew I was not going to settle the communication stopped. Perhaps the most egregious issue was my attorney showing up late to court. My ex- husband showed up with his attorney by his side. As a team. Mine was not with me or did not even reach out to me the night before or the morning of. I walked in with my best friend and no counsel at my side. Both opposing counsel and I were left in the dark, repeatedly calling her office for information. The judge had called us forward but opposing counsel told him that she did not know where my attorney was. He took a recess to allow her more time. She showed up late, no acknowledgment or apologies given and when I expressed my dissatisfaction, she mentioned having an emergency that morning. Again, nothing was communicated. This was now the 3rd "emergency" the firm had in the 9 months of representation. The lack of proactive communication and the late arrivals significantly impacted my case. To add to the frustration, the initially quoted cost of $25,000 ballooned to $40,000. When I had stated that his attorney fees had only been roughly 15,000, she stated that his attorney did not know how to bill and my attorney knew her worth. I wanted to state, no his attorney has integrity and you dont, but refrained from saying anything. In summary, the unprofessionalism, lack of transparency, grossly miscalculation on fees, and poor communication from Brown and Dahan created a stressful and unsatisfactory experience. The numerous issues, including missed deadlines, unlisted attorneys, and late court appearances, make it challenging to recommend their services to others seeking reliable legal representation. I was surprisingly impressed with opposing counsel and have since referred her business. Who would have thought? read more

Since then I wasted $17,000 on 2 court continuances (via video chat) and excessive administration charges ($130+ charged for voice mails, etc...). My uncomplicated divorce is no further along after 8 months, but worse off because of the greed from this firm. My wishes were completely ignored. My answer's to their questions and forms were repeatedly asked for, even after I had submitted them months in advance. I spoke to Kathleen Brown twice in 8 months. He was finally able to established his rights as a father and have regular visitation without negotiating for it every time with full 50/50 custody.
