What's there? - There are two playground sets for kids and swings. One of the playground areas is always covered in ants during the summer so it's generally unusable unfortunately. The other is more usable without so many ants so that's the one most used but both are old and a little run down. There is also a small rock climbing wall which is fun. There is also a tennis court and basketball court near the park also. Next to the park on the water side they also have two three walkway bridges that approach the water. The first leads basically into the mangrove trees. The second extends out onto a minuscule beach and the third used to go directly into the water but was damaged recently in the hurricane. There is also some outdoor exercise equipment including a pull up bar. The bad - There is no dog run but sometimes some of the older residents of Belleair Beach let their dogs run wild there - which can scare away kids and adults depending on the size of the dog. Came to Highland rec center for the aquatic area for my daughter's birthday. We signed up for the…read moreafternoon swim that was two hours long. Now there is a lot of amenities here at the aquatic center but the two big slides in the corner are little rocky. We decided to go down the waterslides when we first got there and noticed that both have flaws. There are wasp nests underneath the slides so you do see tons of wasp flying around. The swirl slide we took moves really slow so you have to push yourself at some point to keep moving forward down the slide. People were coming down quickly after you would get off the slides they got kind of close to landing in the water by us. The straight down slide you catch air midway, especially for a little kids you kinda stopped, touching the slide at one point. Now for the smaller kid area it was perfect for my five year old. They had little slides over there and even a medium kid slide as soon as you walk up nice splash pad a lot more slow pace and relaxing. they do have lifejackets there if needed for children. They also have a café where they serve Domino's Pizza and other snacks and drink options which we did get some Gatorade's and a whole Domino's Pizza, and for the price it wasn't bad.

If they don't do something soon, the lake will become unusable. There is a 10 foot alligator in the small lake that you occasionally see, which is fun. He/she sometimes suns himself on the bank so be careful. After Milton and Helene, the squirrels that used to follow you around on the trail are nowhere to be seen, and very few birds either. If you're visiting for an event, pack folding chairs. There's 3 rows of bleachers on the second floor overlooking the Olympic size pool. While the bleachers span the length of the pool, space can be limited depending on the size of the event you're attending. Behind the bleachers, there's plenty of extra room to set up "camp" with your group. The family next to me sat on the bleachers for Day 1 but after a 5-6hr+ day on the hard bleachers, they opted to bring folding chairs for Day 2's events. There's restrooms on the 2nd floor which is really convenient for spectators. Overflow parking is next door at the Salvation Army.

I HIGHLY recommend coming here for your beach time, Clearwater and St.Pete are totally overrated beaches. This is the only beach I hang out at in the Tampa Bay Area. No crowds!

I now have 2 of my other children in clinics with Coach Donna and they are loving it! Lori is the most enthusiastic, cheerful, and helpful person and the rest of her staff has been nothing but pleasant and accommodating. The courts and grounds are beautiful and I'm pleased to call this our home for tennis.

However once your in its a very well lot nice place to at. Most players are fairly welcoming on fact there's a meet up group that shows here. Huge following sunday 2-4 and decent following Thursday nights at 7. All in all the green clay courts are nice perhaps not the best but very playable and decently maintained and the hard courts are quite nice no flat spots or cracks. Definitely swing by to see.
