The Stella is a unique movie theater, with sumptuous seating offering, red leather couches, leather overstuffed chairs and hassocks, quaint side tables with tiny lamps and seat side service. You make reservations in advance, reserving specific chairs or couches, or, if you are so inclined, one of the large beds located at the very front of the theater. You can pre-order food which is brought to you or if not hot, already at your table when you arrive. The theater has a retro concession stand and you can have alcoholic drinks in the theater. The movie screen was huge and the sound was fabulous. Our seats were in the 5th row. Beforehand, you can book a table or bar seats for dinner or drinks in the upstairs cocktail bar which is also unique and fabulous. Very art deco with a cool vibe! They have a fancy drink menu, I snapped a few photos of sample drink offerings. My friend's cocktail arrived in a stemmed footed porcelain teacup! We did not finish a bottle of wine we had ordered for the table and we were informed we were free to take the bottle and glasses down to the theater to enjoy during the movie! Very nice! The service was very friendly, although they had some obviously new waitstaff who had trouble getting their act together and could not recall who ordered what and just simply placed entrees randomly in front of our table's diners, resulting in lots of dish passing and exchanging. The food was quite good. I ordered the Kale Salad (delicious) and the Creamed Spinach (yummy, but too liquidy) and Chicken Skewers. My husband ordered the Patatas Bravas and the Chicken Skewers, my friend ordered the giant Garlic Chili Prawns, Kale Salad and her husband ordered the Baba Ganoush. Good taste reports all around! The atmosphere is intimate and you are allocated a 1 hour and 45 minute schedule for your reserved dining space which was plenty of time. We did not feel rushed at all. I would highly recommend this unique and fun experience when in Dublin!

They were able to accommodate us mid-week without a reservation, but Friday night we made one to come back. There were gobs of people waiting to get in so we're glad we did! The entrance is very non-descript. It's an ugly grey metal door with VCC randomly applied, so if you didn't know what was there it would look industrial. There is a door bell to the left of the door. Ring it a few times and someone will open the door and check you in. With reservations they do make you wait until exactly that time so don't be alarmed. Your table is already selected for you. The inside is loungy and very swanky. Both times we had extremely comfortable chairs. Service is immaculate. Their menu is massive, very well published and explained. Our servers were both able to explain exactly what the cocktail may taste like as some of the combos might blow your mind. I had the Dirty Wizard which sounds odd on based on ingredients but was delicious. I also had the Purple Pearl which was my perfect cocktail. My husband tried a few different whiskey concoctions and he was impressed by all of them. I highly recommend adding VCC to your Dublin itinerary!

I wouldn't say that I'm an expert in the regional food of New Orleans, but I have been there many times as I have three family members attend university there. I've sampled food in a variety of restaurants and I'm well-versed in the dishes that they serve. As for Oak Alley the ambience was clean, contemporary and appealing. We started off with a round of cocktails, and progressed to the appetizers. We tried the gator, as in alligator, I've had gator before several times both in New Orleans and out. This was an tasty example. I had the jambalaya for dinner which was a solid representation of the dish. We finished off the evening with a couple of whiskeys, and a couple coffees. The waitstaff was ultra attentive polite and responded well to our Russian colleague's requests for vodka with coffee. Overall I'd say this is a excellent restaurant with probably the best representation of Cajun food in Ireland. Will try to come again next time we are in Town. PS. The upstairs bar is a great place for pre or after dinner drinks and the menu is extensive but kinda expensive. Go for the 2 for €12 euro deal served up to 7.30 if you are on a budget. Oak Alley is a great addition to the already thriving restaurant scene in Maynooth. Like a lot of people I was unsure if New Orleans in Kildare would work, but it most definitely does.
