I craft or talent I'd developed when I was a resident of Tubac. But you don't have to live here to be a member. There are members across the country. But residents and members get to see all the openings The center also hosts art shows from all over the country. And some from Mexico as well. They sponsor a summer art program for children. They have live musical performances during the season ( October to April). An integral part of the community I can't remember all the other events they are credited for. Also samples from local artist that will be participating in another annual event, the Open Studio Tour. The center has a gift shop with paintings from still other artists that are local, jewelry, pottery, art books and children books. They have expanded and remodeled with twice the space for exhibitions and some workshops. In one of the rooms the are exhibiting the "Tucson Seven". World famous artist of the west. Spent quite a lot of time enjoying all the art. Makes it very special to see some artist I know and how far there work has progress in the last four years since I've been here. Located in Tubac AZ which is 40 miles south of Tucson and 20 miles north of the Mexican border town of Nogales. Tubac truly is an artist village 1,200 permanent residents and growing. The population doubles and then some with the snow birds. I have had some of my painting in display at this art center.

Phil Stark was the artist and the subject was a beautiful colorful entrance to a home's front entrance, flooded with colorful flowers, plants, and wonderful shadows.. It sits proudly in our living room as a centerpiece, getting lots of complements from our new friends... so glad to see that Big Horn still manages some of Phil's work... so lovely, so special, and so much growth in his painting style and subjects... thank you always... we will try to visit again soon. One would think from the exterior, that this shop does only commercial and/or residential concrete…read morework... but the concrete work is unique, and it is chock full of other original artwork. Both Carrie Simpson-Petty and Jim Petty, as artists developed a unique space which surely encompasses the extraordinary concrete art for homes and commerce, but includes original artwork in the nicely appointed and spacious locale. It's only a block over from the main street where all the hustle and bustle seem to happen most, and it's well worth walking less than 100 yards to visit them. Amazing place, amazing artists, and amazing place to see great work. Kudos guys, keep it up. We'll be back.

His workspace, a near-fort, or cabin itself. The surrounding woods holding a strong piney embrace around it all. You can do nothing as you wheel on by, then pull in off the highway, as your hands will do almost uncontrollably and yet seemingly instinctually, as mind and body are acting on the cooperating and yet equal accords of curiosity and intellectual stimulation. You will find something here that you must have, and you will see in your thoughts just the perfect place for it back in your domicile or wherever you spend a good bit of time. And the great thing about pieces like this, besides invaluable uniqueness, in that each piece is handmade and painted, and absolutely different from the other, is that each piece has a story to tell. The story of the tree that it came from. Where it was found. How it was shaped, formed. How it became what you now see. Mr. Kuper will tell you. And then you will also have your own story to tell.
