I want to send this email for 2 reasons: I owe so many people thank you. Thank you for your thoughts, gifts and prayers during our house fire early this summer. Our first night back was 9/21, and we are grateful and humbled to have a new house. God has blessed us beyond belief and thank you all again for your hearts.
The things that I have been through have to be testimonies to help others. This situation I am going through now should be publicly exposed and I intend to make people aware, the 2nd reason for the email.
Curtis Brunson did allow me and my daughter to move in the second apartment he showed me, on a month to month lease until my house was remodeled. The first apartment was truly INFESTED with roaches, thus the reason we took the second apartment.
He called me 9/19 to ask me if I could move out earlier then the 30 day notice I gave that was until good until 10/3. He went on to tell me about a lady who was being kicked out and needed somewhere to live that's on section 8, and had a son that passed recently to make me understand fully, why it was important that she move in here since I was soon to leave. All the while he was telling her business and mentioned her name, I realized I knew her personally. After I made some phone calls, I was able to leave by 9/24, he told me that I would be doing him a favor by leaving early and that I didn't have to clean and he would sent my full deposit for leaving early, $725. I left 10 days early and the rent of $725 was paid for the month. We moved in the apartment 8/6, moved out 9/20, I was literally there with my one 14 year old for 6 weeks and 3 days. He cleaned the carpets the day after I moved in, he knew it had stains that didn't come out.
It's now been almost 2 weeks since I've gone and I still do not have my deposit and someone moved in by 9/27.
Today I reached out about it and he text this...
"Sorry I meant to call you your was printed and signed yesterday. The cost of cleaning the carpets was deducted for $177 the balance of $548 is here at the office. Do want me mail or you want to come pick it up ?"
So I went to the lady that just had to move in the apartment I was in since I knew her personally, and just told her everything and to take pictures of the carpet because even though I was only there 6 weeks, he said Stanley Steamer charged him $177 to clean the carpets that are still filthy and stained today.
Once his defenses were gone he then said "I did you a favor letting you rent month to month.." After he told me he didn't have time to argue with me, he just hung up on me. And then text me again asking me for my address. I replied by saying I will be in his office the next am at open because I had verbally given it to him twice and didn't feel comfortable texting it. And that I had keys to turn in that he gave me that was the wrong set from move in.
Later I received a text from the lady that said..."This is??????. I forgot to tell you. Mr. Brunson failed to mention that I was giving my section 8 up because like i said I only have one child here now. He broke his neck to find me somewhere so he could keep that account."
I left 10 days early because of a woman that was being kicked out and only given 1 weeks to move because Curtis Brunson sold the house she was living in under her nose, while making me feel bad to make moves earlier so he don't loose her account and then promised my full $725 deposit back because I was moving early along with sayin that I didn't have to clean it, only to take $177 from me that is my money or I want 10 days rent back.
As he is a man with position and I don't want to take him to court over this money I thought it would be better to expose the man who took money from me for no reason who is not servicing our community positively, especially single young, black, moms going through house fires and have lost children recently. He is preying on our money and somebody needs to know it. He can't do me any favors, I work for what I want and fight for what I deserve. All I want is to expose what he did to me and my daughter. Please share.

PS, right now it's 10am, and I went to his office and the receptionist said that he told her he mailed my deposit. How could he if he just asked me for my address through text message yesterday? Now I do not know if I will even get my deposit back. That was my personal money Curtis, not insurance money. I personally paid that deposit because I was supposed to get it back, all back per our agreement. That is just down right wrong. read more
