I was super impressed by the friendliness of the owner when I popped in and chatted with him first thing this morning. Caring about quality artisan goods, the coffee and the ice cream (gelato) is of a high standard and I was impressed that my flat white came in the small proper serving. There's a courtyard to the back for around 20 seating and the same again inside with a small terrace out front. Looking forward to trying the cafe menu soon!

The store has all sorts of day to day items with an extra nod to tourists - selling antique/old school confectionary likely to stir up string feelings of nostalgia amongst people visiting the village for the day. The attached ice cream shop is where the magic happens for me though. The Ripley ice cream is very much like Mr Whippy in that it's smooth and silky - and I really like this style. They also sell a good range of gelato too. Overall, it's worth passing through Ripley to stop for an hour or two - the pub 'the Boar' is supposed to be very good for food and drinks but there's not loads of other places to see and do.

And we could even sit on the little benches in front and giggle as our kid's struggled to eat the stuff before it all melted into a puddle. They have both savory & sweet crepes to try from (as well as various baked goods, ice cream, milkshakes and coffee/tea). Lots of toppings to choose from and various ways they will make a crepe for you. If I had to make any suggestions, it would be to only clean up (maybe 'polish' is the better word?) the inside appearance: turn the glasses over so dust doesn't settle inside, have containers set up along the inside of the display case to show ingredients available to choose from but not ones too big as to cover up the crepe making stations b/c it's interesting to watch, and laminate the menus once they're set. Just a few minor adjustments would have it looking professional but still unique! The folks who worked there are great too: didn't mind talking to us yanks about the shop while we sat there and watched crepe making in action. I'll be paying them a visit again soon!

Was perfectly cooked and tasty. Not too many chips but was satisfying. Blueberry pie for dessert was a wonderful finish. Don't know about the steak but the rest of the patrons seemed to be enjoying their meels. I took the family (6 adults and 2 kids) and between us we had a number of different dishes from the menu. To cut a sad tale short the steaks were of poor quality and were not cooked as they should have been (medium rare was well done etc), the burgers were dried out and the Mexican dishes were cold. The staff seemed pre occupied with other things and although apologetic they did not really seem to care. It is a shame - this used to be a really good place to eat.
