It's a lovely stop along the outdoor Buchanan Street pedestrian mall. With four levels, lots of retail, a few restaurants, and one great chocolatier, Princes Square Shopping Centre is worth a few hours of shopping for the ladies on vacation in Glasgow. The facility is just steps from the St. Enoch subway station on the Inner Line if you need a reference to the metro stops.

Granted,…read moreI don't actually do much shopping here but it is nice for a place to take cover on a rainy day and browse the shops. This is an upmarket shopping centre which has more expensive high street shops like Reiss, Ted Baker, Vivienne Westwood and Cos (which I'm still yet to check out!). The centre is certainly decorated to match the crowd it's looking to attract - glitzy, glam and always clean and tidy. I like the size of the centre as well - it's very dinky but still has lots of shops and is easy to navigate. There's also a host of restaurants, bars and cafés but I'll be honest - I've not visited many of them. I ate at Barca probably 4 years ago and also one of the places on the bottom floor but I think that's changed hands. One down side is that if you are dining at a restaurant on the lower level, parents will tend to let their kids run riot in the centre circle which can be a bit of a mood-killer. Princes Square doesn't have a car park due to its location but it is really close to train and subway. If you do really fancy driving, probably St Enoch or Mitchell Street are the closest car parks.

A lot of the shoppers here look fairly decrepit and downbeat and the goods are usually quite shoddy. The shops in here constitute a fairly radom array of pet shops, tattoo parlours, gold shops and bakeries. There is a very good butcher in here though, and a few Chinese shops as the Chinatown influence extends into the city centre. Overall though, a kind of manky centre with no real place in the city centre.

Pushy, obsessive girlfriends drag sweating, shifty-eyed boyfriends around here and coo in an innocent-but-underlyingly-persuasive manner at gigantic engagement rings. You can find everything in here, from traditional gold and antiques, to modern gems by contemporary designers. The walls and ceiling sparkle with the reflected light of a million facets - most people can only afford to browse. Wandering around here is an enjoyable way to spend half an hour. Deciding what you would buy if you found £10,000 or even £100,000 just lying in the street (Ha!). One end of the arcade emerges on Buchanan Street, the other on Argyll Street, so it is a nice alternative link between the two streets, especially if it is raining.

They have many fast food and restaurant options and it seems to be very popular place with the younger crowd as there is also an area for video games and entertainment. Just beware that many stores close early (6 pm I think) and although the food places may be open but many stores were not when I went around 7 pm.

The Oak Mall is really small (hey I'm a poet and I didn't know it!) and has really rubbish versions of high street stores. For example the Oak Malls Topshop has to be the worst branch I have ever been in! It is so tiny and doesn't have any of the most fashion forward, cool lines. There are a few of those really tacky "tween" shops that I love to hate such as Quiz, Unique and Internacionale, if that's you kind of thing, if it is, why?? The Oak Mall does have one of the few Adams stores left in the UK which is maybe worth a visit if you have kids. Also the Bodycare, Semi Chem and Sally Hair and Beauty stores are good for picking up cheap but branded beauty products. I still wouldn't say it's worth the trip out to the mall just for a hand full of sort of ok stores.

Empty shops and poor ones litter the once bustling West Blackhall St. For any Greenockian, this part of town lost its appeal as soon as it become closed over and refered to as "The Mall" - no character remains, sadly. Although whenever I've visited the car park has been very quiet also meaning the shops are quiet too I hate it when it's busy! There are six shops in the retail park, Acorn Pet Centre, Argos Extra, Au Natural, Dreams, Homebase and Peacocks giving a good selection of premises to visit. There is a small amount of cover along the pedestrian walkway to protect visitors from the elements, although it's more of a nudge in the direction of rain cover than actual real cover.

This place is pretty much your average retail park. It's not particularly exciting, but it does have some useful shops as well as a really big free car park. The multi storey car park has a great lighting set up to let you know where a free space is.. If you look at the roof you'll see lots of red and green lights.. If you see a green light underneath it will be a free parking space.. There are lots of different shops all the kids you want even a small version of debenhams.. And the food on offer is great. wagamama, nandos, you sushi, the list goes on.. There are lots of lovely little stalls dotted about where you can buy some original not in the high street type things. There is also a big tesco attached and a newly opened cineworld..

Things that aren't so good about it: - It's a bit of a strange shape so it means you'll walk from one end to the other, and then remember something you need at M&S or Tesco, and have to walk all the way back again - The car park is a bit of a nightmare. I try to avoid visiting on the weekend as even then it's hard to park. At Christmas you'd be better off getting public transport if you're really desperate to shop here. - The toilets seem like they're really far apart I go here when I need to, but I rarely visit just for a wander around the shops anymore.
