An express hotel such as this is meant to be small, efficient, affordable, and really just provide just the basics of what you need. Considering that, this is a great choice among hotels of this type! The room was white-glove clean and well laid out to make the most of a small space. It had almost floor to ceiling windows overlooking a very cute waking. It had a kettle and coffee/tea setup, a small writing desk and chair, and a nice flat panel tv. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Free Wifi is available, but at a lower speed. It was 6 euro a day for the high speed internet option. I had no trouble at all using the free wifi though to check email, Facebook, and a couple of websites. It didn't seem slow to me at all. The bathroom was small but functional, with a shared door that swings one was to close off the toilet area and swings the other way to close off the whole bathroom including shower/sink/toilet. The shower and sink both has dispensers for a single product that is labeled hair, hand, and body wash. I dunno about you, but for me, before I'll wash my hair with it, it needs to be intended for hair specially. In all fairness though: there is a sign that says to ask the front desk if you need any specific toiletries. And I never really use them anyway, so I like that it's environmentally friendly and doesn't use up a zillion little half-used plastic bottles. Plus, I did use it to wash my hands, and it smelled and felt just fine. Ladies, just bring some conditioner :-) there was a nice, strong hair dryer as well, so that's a big plus for me. The included breakfast was the real superstar of this stay. They have a fancy coffee machine for cappuccinos, lattes, macchiatos, etc., as well as a couple kinds of juice to drink. They had numerous types of super fresh breads and pastries, and the most delicious jams I've ever had, in my life. The attendant said it was a local product. They had several flavors, and the two I tried were just out of this world good (wild berry and strawberry). They had a pretty large selection of very nice meats and cheeses, including an emmenthaller that was just delicious. They had quite a nice mix of fresh fruit and yogurts as well, and also a good selection of cereals. As for location, this is about 10 minutes walk from the main part of town and about 15-20 minutes walk to Caracalla thermal spa. Lastly, the front desk staff were very kind and helpful, and spoke probably the best English ran into on our whole trip to Germany. Overall, for a 'micro' hotel : express hotel - this is an excellent choice.

This is a very interesting hotel. Let me start off by saying the views are absolutely gorgeous and…read morethat is the main reason for my rating. The hotel is about an hours drive from Baden Baden. When I reserved the hotel on hotels.com I was told it was about 20 miles away. An indication of the route would have helped but that is not the hotels fault. The drive from Baden Baden goes through the mountains and involves a lot of twists and turns. It is a nice drive but in the dark and when tired, it can be a little much. We arrived about 1.5 hours after making our reservation online. When we arrived the very nice yet elderly innkeeper told us she could not retrieve the reservation because she didn't know how to use the computer. I had reserved to twin beds however she stated no twin rooms were available but took our name so the could retrieve the reservation later and she showed us to a king bed. The room was definitely dated. I don't think it had been renovated since the 1960's. The room was very large through and the bathroom was pretty. I was able to turn on the TV and watch some Seinfeld in German which was kind of cool. When I woke up in the morning I was taken aback by the beautiful views from the room. Breakfast was served however we did not partake. The weirdest part of the stay happened in the morning when the cleaning lady basically pushed us out of the room starting at about 9:45. Check out was 11 but they knocked once and let themselves into the room to see if we wanted breakfast and to let us know they wanted to clean. We ended up leaving earlier than intended but the stay was still fine. There is free parking for visitors and like I said breakfast is included.

While checking in the nice older lady at the desk said she was too old to look up our reservation so she had us write our name down and showed us to a room. We had reserved a two twin room however she said they did not have any and we were given a king room. The room was very large and didn't look to be updated since the 60's with the exception of the tv. The room was comfortable enough for a one night stay. In the morning another lady came into our room 3 times. 2 times asking if we wanted breakfast. I didn't like the fact that if we took more than a minute to open the door she would get a master key and let herself in. By the 3rd time we just packed up and left. It was an odd experience and I doubt I would stay here again.
