There are a number of shops in Europe, founded by the Wohlfahrt family in Rothenburg, Germany. Check out the web site for a more complete idea of how ones senses are overwhelmed upon entering the store. Now, it can get extremely chaotic at check out. They had no lines and I am a firm believer of being waited on ~ in order of completion of shopping. I admit, I did have to leave my husband standing in line while I went to direct people so that there was some order and people from all countries appreciated that help, as did the employees. Why they did not do it themselves, or why there was not a sign posted, I cannot figure out. However, every gift we purchased was treasured.

This is the third time I have visited this shop and you can't just walk in and out without spending money in this place. They have a huge collection of Christmas ornaments from cheap to really expensive hand made stuff and you could spend a good while browsing and shopping. We took some friends here and they basically over spent money in this place and bought a whole bunch of things. As one of them said "I found everything I wanted" as it related to Christmas decorations and there were smiles all around. The staff are friendly and do help when you want it. This is also a shop where they sell a lot of clocks and ship them overseas. The choices of cuckoo clocks is quite good albeit expensive. I will certainly come back here again and again.

The Germans have their own name for them which I wish I would have had her write down. Theirs are beavers and foxes rather than a jack rabbit. They also have wings. They normally are no producers, they are retail people who are damn good at selling. Here you may find all kind of everything, starting with traditional mangers, figures thereto, kings, shepperds, sheep, our Lord as a tiny baby, but also more profane or secular stuff like pictures behind glass, big, heavy and pitoresque beautifully coloured beersteins, in short all Bavarian souvenirs you might love to get. On demand they even craft figures to your wishes. Dedlerhaus too is a place to mark well and keep in mind if you want to buy a local souvenir to take home to your family.
