The he customer experience is terrible I would not recommended these people to anyone I've called them over 161 times 10:13am- 10:55am kept getting sent to the customer service line nobody on those Lines speak clear English so it's very frustrating your best bet is going directly to the location of you have questions and concerns most of them at the location are rude tho so yeah best of luck to you if you decide to rent a car from this hell hole I wish I could give them 0 stars

Yes, this Budget Rental Car location is mostly crowded and appears to be a little disorganized, however I had no problems getting in and out and I really appreciate the fact that I can use my debit card for payment, unlike the other Akron locations and airport where only credit card payments are accepted. I have in the past gotten cars @ Enterprise but, their prices have suddenly gotten out of control. Thanks Budget!!! read more

We booked a 12' truck three weeks ago from the Akron Budget. Imagine our surprise and disappointment that they left a voicemail a few hours before we were due to pick it up. "No trucks available - your reservation is cancelled." Now we are scrambling! read more

Made a reservation a month ago. Came in and the manager was being straight up rude and unprofessional. Didn't have the car I specifically requested then offered a totally different car than what I asked for. The manager then asked me to call the reservation number and then walked away. I advise not to come to this place. read more

This location was unable to provide me with a car after I made a reservation and claimed they could not cancel my reservation for me. I was instructed to call customer service and tell them that I was "equifaxed" to get my refund. I did NOT tell them I that and was honest that the location didn't have any cars. Already received my refund email. Won't be back. read more

They just GAVE my car away without calling or emailing me in advance. I showed her my phone records and there was NO evidence of the contact. I asked for SOMETHING to somehow make this right and she just started yelling at me that she had "evidence" that she called me. It would have been NO problem for me to just pick up my car elsewhere if that would have just let me know. read more

ZERO STARS. This is for the Avis in the same little building. Do not rent from here. They will bring you in with a "deal" but when you return the car hit you with a lot of extra charges that you will need to dispute with your credit card company. Honestly, I get it y'all lost money last year but taking it out on customers that actually we're giving you business. Bad look. Never again if you rent from them make sure: Ask for them to go over everything especially where your drop off point is for the car. You have a grace period of 29 minutes to return the car or they will charge you an extra day. Also the pick up is NOT based on your reservation. Meaning if you pick up your car 30 minutes before your scheduled time they will not tell you but that's when the clock starts. If you decide to fill up your car on your own. They will still try to charge you for refueling even though you told them you are gonna fill It up yourself. Make sure to - save the receipt from the gas station AND take a photo of the dashboard saying the gas tank is full. I hope this helps some of you to have a better experience if you do rent a car. read more

We booked a rental car here, and once we actually got to this location were told there were no cars, and there wouldn't be any cars the next day either. I am not sure why budget would allow us to book a car when there are none? We were offered no compensation and told to go to Enterprise next door, which was shut. The staff did not care at all and it seemed like this happened all the time. We will not be using budget again. read more

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE RUN!!! Do NOT rent a car from here. The owner Mark does not care about his customers!!! Instead of typing the entire story again. I will just attach the email I sent to him after he has now avoided talking to me twice! This is Samantha. I just came in and tried to talk to you about your mistake you made last week and you weren't interested in acknowledging the situation. My phone number is 330******* if you want change your mind and want to try to resolve this. -My reservation was at 9:30 am. You called that morning and said a car wouldn't be available until 10:30-11:30. So to be safe I got there at 11:30 to avoid waiting. But then I had to wait in store until 12:45 for another. -when the guy who cleaned it gave me the keys, I pointed out the area where it was apparently crashed, and took a picture. (See attached) he said it was already noted and we were good to go. -I get 10 mins down the road to my next destination and realize my tire is flat and this time bent down to the tire and could hear the air coming out. When I took the picture I had not bent down to check for leakage as there was no apparent reason to. -I quickly hurried back in my vehicle because your vehicle was unsafe. And my husband followed me back in yours. I made it back first. I was there 5 mins after close and your employee refused to help us and put us in a safe vehicle after putting my family including my 4 year old son in an unsafe vehicle. - your employee told me she couldn't help me because you guys were closed (by 5 minutes) and that I needed to contact roadside after putting me in this unsafe vehicle just 20 mins prior. I watched as you drove right past me in your pretty convertible with no worries about this problem and the fact that my family was now already several hours late to leave for our vacation. -I left the car there. I contacted roadside. It took 45 mins on hold just to talk to someone. And then for that person to explain that I needed to contact Avis customer service instead for this problem. So they transferred me and I waited a significant amount of time again to talk to someone again. Just to be told that this is actually roadsides problem and to be transferred back to them. After talking to the second person from roadside they instructed me to leave the car at your location and to drive to Akron canton airport and they will assist me to getting a new car. They even checked to make sure that location had a car available. -As I'm on my way to Akron canton airport I decided to call that location to make sure they knew what was going on so this would go smooth. And they told me they knew nothing about it and that roadside would actually have to come put the donut on that car first so I could bring the unsafe car to them. So they could switch it out. -(even more frustrated at this point and now very very late to start our long 10 hour trip to vacation) I then called roadside to get someone to come put the donut on. They then told me because of the holiday weekend, it would take 4-5 hours to get someone out to me. -so now if I waited the 4-5 hours for someone to get there, the Akron canton location would have been closed and would not actually be able to switch the vehicles. -so I got ahold of someone I know and decided to pay them to plug the tire to avoid missing yet another day of our already paid for vacation. This costed me $60 - I drove 10 hours Each way on a plugged tire. I rented a vehicle because I didn't think my personal vehicle was suitable for the long drive. So when I rented a car from you I expected to have a car that was suitable for the drive. -also after a couple minutes of driving a note lights up on the dash saying "maintenance required. see your local dealer" which was also told to your employee minutes after you gave us the vehicle. Still was none of hers or your concern apparently -also on another note the car smelled terribly of cigarettes When I came in to turn in the car you, the owner again avoided me. Is this how you usually do business? read more

Horrible customer service and overall experience. Go to enterprise!!! Budget is shady! The rental had an issue and I had to bring it back. They didn't have vehicles in stock to give me. Honestly after already having been on hold for 30 minutes because the person did not want to deal with telling me they couldn't do something I was simply asking about. Then being transferred around about the car issue. I was done, was glad to take it back. Thinking they would refund me. Well they only refunded me half for the days I lost. They were very rude to me. I have never had anyone take my hard earned money and be so rude to me. I was literally in tears! read more

Do yourself a favor go right next door to Enterprise. They will gladly take your money and the cars and customer service is an A+++. These people were trained at the nasty and rude school of etiquette. More customers showed up to return or rent and they turned them down as well. GROSS! read more

NEVER RENT A CAR FROM BUDGET: As a successful, financially stable person, I enjoy trying out different businesses to help them grow. Unfortunately, Budget Car Rental needs to throw in the towel. If you are looking for a good rental car, I would suggest going to Enterprise or Hertz. I frequent both of these companies when I am travelling for personal trips and have not had any problems. The vehicle I rented had MULTIPLE STAINS of every seat, was missing pieces from both the fender and bumper. It rode like we were going to be stranded at any given time, and it smelled like smoke. Unfortunately, I had already paid for the vehicle online and was unable to switch to another vehicle because this was the BEST OPTION they had that they were willing to give me (not my opinion... fact). I inquired about 2 Dodge Chargers that they had AVAILABLE on their lot and they discouraged me from renting them. They disappointingly made the ASSUMPTION that I did not have enough money for either of them because I did not fully disclose my financial status in my behavior or attire. Sad, right? Due to me being responsible and paying for the vehicle in advance online, I was penalized and forced to place an additional in-store deposit of $100.00 that I learned of upon arrival to pick up the vehicle. By the way... we just are not going to discuss how difficult it is to get your deposit back!!! The customer service was interesting. It is surely not a professional environment and the employees were fumbling over one another as customers sat and watched. This was the worst rental place that I could possibly have found I had the worst experience the car broke down I was stranded on the highway for over seven hours they did nothing to compensate me for anything and on top of that they charge for gas because I was stranded and couldn't get to a gas station I would not recommend budget car rental of Akron to any buddy whatsoever this has got to be One of the worst experiences of my life and The only reason I have given them one star is because it won't allow me to give zero or negative I do not even condone the one star read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would. Mark doesn't care about his customers at all. After booking a car a month in advance, we were informed they were out of cars, when in fact they had 3 SUVs he just didn't want to give us an upgrade when they didn't plan accordingly. We had wonderful customer service next door at Enterprise. I will never use Budget, no matter how cheap they are. read more

Nastiest, rudest customer service I've ever encountered anywhere across the US. No help whatsoever with our rental and had to cancel it because they failed to state we needed a MAJOR credit card yet we had plenty of money for a deposit after paying $500 upfront for our rental. Do yourself a favor and choose a different rental company to go through. They will be nasty to you and you'll be out of money the day of your trip and stranded not knowing what to do. And THEN wait 10 business days for your money back so now no vacation. Should've checked reviews before booking because this place is TERRIBLE. Do yourself a favor, save the hassle and go elsewhere read more

I had the same experience as the other reviewers. The reserved truck was not there when I went to get it. They were of no help in resolving the issue and referred us to the national customer service who also was not helpful. Don't do business with these clowns. "They know how to take the reservation they just don't know how to hold the reservation". UHaul on S Main street was very helpful - go see them. read more

I was on a trip to Akron, OH Aug 21-26, 2019 and had reserved a car at the Akron-Canton airport on arrival. I arrived around 10pm that evening. The people there were extremely friendly and helpful and got me on my way in a short time. A walk around the vehicle at night, I noticed no discrepancies. I drove about 25 min and arrived at the hotel in Akron just before 11pm and parked. The following morning when I came out to the vehicle, I noticed the right rear tire was low. Thinking nothing of it, I drove to the nearest gas station and aired the tire up. I drove for a short time and returned to the hotel. Later that evening I was going out to dinner when I approached the vehicle again, that same tire was low again. I called the roadside assistance number and asked for suggestions because it appeared that I had a "slow leak" in that tire. I was told that I could "exchange" the vehicle at the nearest Budget location which happened to be at 259 W. MARKET St., Akron, Oh. They didn't open until 8am the next morning. So, when I got up on Aug 23, 2019, the tire was lower, so I took it back to the gas station I used before and aired the tire up again to make it to 259 W. Market St. I arrived just as they opened and spoke with an agent for Budget and stated that I needed to "exchange" the vehicle for another one. There were plenty of cars present and was told that they were all accounted for. I was told that he couldn't exchange the vehicle there and that I needed to exchange it at the original rental location which was the airport. I said that I wasn't sure or comfortable that the vehicle could make it back down the Interstate to the airport and was concerned about the tire "blowing out" or going flat during the drive. H e suggested that I put the "donut" (spare tire) on the vehicle and I stated that I was not and I paid for and rented a good vehicle to use. I said I felt the vehicle was "unsafe" to drive and preferred not to do that. Reluctantly, I drove the vehicle back to the airport and explained the situation to the BUDGET/AVIS staff and they immediately replaced the vehicle and said that they have had issues and complaints from that person and location several times before. I never received a name from the agent at 259 W. Market St., but the airport staff referred to him as "Mark". I would NOT rent a vehicle from THAT location on W. Market St. location as long as "Mark" ws in charge. If you are in the downtown Akron area and wanted to rent a car there in town----- Enterprise was right next door!!!!! Anthony F. I rented a car in Fort Wayne and was scheduled to return to Columbus but my clients cancelled so I had to return the car to Akron since I was no longer going to be in the Columbus area. I went online and made the changes and it said 247.00 more for returning to Akron and not Columbus. I already knew that even though i was returning 2 days early I would not get any of it back. I rent M-F because of my job. When i arrived in Akron airport midday they charged me $300.00 and what makes it so bad is that the counter employees were so rude. I deal with clients everyday and if i was ever rude to any of them i would loose my job. Anyway i left and started the process of speaking to someone and it is a process of waiting hours. I finally spoke to someone (a lady) and explained everything and she literally called me a liar and did ask me if i had screen shoot the price. Of course my reply was that i didn't think i needed to cover my back. I did exactly was was asked. To my surprise she said"i am not adjusting this how do i know you are telling me the truth". umm because i am not a liar. Anyway i had an upcoming reservation and i cancelled it and will no longer rent and will discourage my friends and family from doing this. That you are willing to loose a loyal customer over a few cents really bothers me. I am not a liar and cant believe that this company allows the employees to speak to customers this way. Listen this was a 600.00 car rental for 2 days and really what hurts the most and the awful treatment by the employees. They must be allowed to do this because why would they, if they knew they would get fired for insulting clients. So sad.... read more

Family-operation at the Market Street location, diligent, honest, hard workers. I'd have rented from Budget on many occasions, and I will continue to do so. I've been treated rudely at other car rental agencies, and I've been fed such a line by others. I appreciate honest and good service - and that's what I've gotten here. read more

I wouldn't recommend anyone to go here . I was going on a trip with my family to LEGO land in Columbus Ohio . We only needed the van for a day. The next day (supposed to drop the van off) we're running behind because of traffic. We called the rental place to let them know we would be running late because of traffic ..they said "okay that's fine" So we get to the rental place a hour later ..It's closed. We called a 1800 number to let them know the rental place is closed and that we were dropping the van off . They said "leave the key in the mail box" so we did just that and also took a picture and went home . Next day is Labor Day and they was closed. Tuesday come around and they charged us $756.00 . I'm called them to see why I was charged that much and they told me ..I had the van since Saturday and I explained to them I didn't I spoke with other someone from a 1800 number and that they told me to leave the van there and I also told them I had a picture showing the date and everything...(I'm pretty sure they have cameras to look too). So the rental place told me on the phone it's nothing they could do I'll have to call corporate. So I did just that ..just to find out they couldn't do anything either. It's not fair at all. If I could give these guys no stars I definitely would. Very unprofessional! read more

I booked a rental on the app Saturday morning(6/29/19). I went to pick up the car and they told me that the car I reserved on line was not available. The lady at the counter told me that I could pay extra for an upgrade. I thought since they didn't have the correct car available that they would just take care of it, boy was I wrong. Cassandra orzo was the manager on staff. She told me that since it was a last minute rental, they wouldn't be able to take care of it ( I'd already prepaid online). She and the other lady working with her were two of the nastiest and rudest people I've ever met. She told me if I didn't like it, Enterprise was next door. I agreed to pay the upgrade charge and she still refused to rent to me. She told me that I wouldn't be happy with the car so she refused to rent to me. I couldn't believe that she was serious. I was dropped off by a Lyft to pick the car up so I was left stranded. I have dealt with Budget rental car for decades, this is by far my worst experience. These people should not be allowed to deal with customers. I hope budget starts training their employees on the proper way to to treat customers. read more

Your reservation doesn't mean anything to them! I reserved a car 2 days in advance at 10 minutes before my pickup time they called me that they don't have the car and my reservation is not expensive enough for them to find me another one! I called budget customer service and the representative on the phone said he found another car near my location but I should pay more than double the reservation price! So even if the prices may seem good on their website, they will try to rip you off at the moment you need the car! read more
