I took my 4 children to Dr. Daniel Buehler for almost 2 years, and I would not recommend him to anyone. 1. He was dismissive of legitimate concerns I had regarding my children 2. Did not even tell me when my daughter's blood pressure was dangerously low (I found out when I got the medical records) 3. Wrote INCORRECT statements and false quotes in my children's medical charts about concerns I had. For example, when I told him I thought my 5 year old had asthma he documented in the chart that I was sure he had asthma because I have it, and then proceeded to leave out my son's 3 ER visits for breathing trouble. He had multiple, documented ER visits where he received steroids and nebulizer treatments because HE COULD NOT BREATHE! At the ER they didn't send him home because I was "making it up", they quickly gave him breathing treatments because he NEEDED them. My mother, who has done family practice for nearly 20 years had seen and heard my son wheezing on many occasions. I told Dr. Buehler all of this and he left all this information out of the chart and instead falsely quoted me and made it sound as if I was trying to intentionally mislead him. To what end? Why would I make this up? He then refused to give him a prescription for an emergency inhaler at school because he said "school nurses don't know how to use them". This man treated me (and apparently nurses as well) like we know nothing. That was our last appointment with him. Mothers are the best advocate for their children's health, trust me, go to a doctor who cares about your child as much as you do. Whether a mother has a PhD or not if they tell a doctor their child is having trouble breathing as has been to the ER three times for this reason they should take that concern seriously. Even if he hadn't been to the ER it should have been taken seriously and he should have followed up. He did neither of those things. After we moved off island it took me over a year to get the medical records from his office, they wanted quite a bit of money per page and I had 4 children's well checks and sick visits over nearly 2 years (it would have cost nearly $200 to get the records from him and he would not email them). After a year of asking a kind receptionist finally agreed to put the records on a disc for me to have. When I read them I was very upset by what he had documented in the chart about the false information regarding "my concerns" and while I left every appointment with him feeling like all my concerns were dismissed, I could clearly read in the chart that not only did he dismiss my concerns, and my children's written records but he didn't take my children's health seriously at all. read more

I didn't know the first thing about finding a good pediatrician but after interviewing a few and meeting him I ended up choosing Dr. Buehler as my daughter's pediatrician. His office location is great as it's next to whole foods and long stores and kahala mall! So if I need to run a few errands after my daughter's check up the convenience is there. The ladies at the reception desk are really nice. There are times that I have a long wait even though with an appointment which can be frustrating when you're on a schedule. Dr. Buehler is very friendly and genuine. He even gives you his pager in case you have an emergency which he's fairly quick to return your call. There came a point when I didn't have insurance and he was nice to offer a discount for my daughter's visit. That shows that he's in his profession for the kids! I liked him so much that I even referred my friend who just moved on island. Even though they told her she couldn't get an appointment for 2 months, Dr Buehler told me to tell her to ask for him directly, which he then fit her in right away as her son needed to get his vaccinations! read more

I was very impressed with Dr Buehler! It is refreshing to see such an experienced physician still take their time with each patient (and parent!). As a parent, I appreciate his patience in answering all of my questions thoroughly as well as ensuring that my daughter is comfortable throughout the appointment. Whether I had questions around normal toddler milestones (sleep, meals, etc) or potential infection, I never felt rushed or that my question glossed over. He was also hesitant in prescribing antibiotics too quickly unless they were absolutely necessary and opted to try some home remedies first, which worked. Dr Buehler is extremely responsive and easy to reach - he returns calls promptly and follows-up often. As a new(er) patient I found the office staff extremely responsive (no hold times, always able to get an appointment, etc). I would definitely recommend Dr Buehler and feel lucky that our family is a part of his practice. read more

Dr. Buehler is a smart, mindful, kind and a hard working pediatrician. We have been seeing him for 6+ years and he has always been genuine and truthful with his care for our son. I have never waited more than 10 minutes for an appointment. And, my husband who is also a nurse practitioner, trusts Dr. Buehler as well. If he isn't available when we needed to take my son in, we have been pleased with the care we received from his colleagues. This office has become so entirely rude and unaccommodating. The front office staff belittles you when you call with questions. They don't actually care. Sincerely awful staff here. Doctors are sort of nice but don't seem to actually care. Guess we are all just an insurance check to them. With so many people needing adequate health cares they don't have to care anymore. read more

Dr. Buehler is an awesome doctor who does not rush you and truly cares about your child's well being. He is down to earth, friendly, and knowledgeable. The office staff is very friendly, helpful, and most have worked there for years. I ALWAYS get through when I call and if my son is sick, I can get an appointment right away. So this is a tough one to review as, like with most small personalized businesses, are you reviewing the person (in this case Dr. Buehler) or the practice (i.e. Dr. Buehler, LLC) and where it creates problems is when they wildly diverge especially in the medical arena where often the gatekeepers are the problem but at the same time they reflect the doctor as their employer, i.e. way too many doctors both have no idea what is going on with their practice (hence why fraud and theft is rife among office managers) and at the same time don't want to know either as long as patients are coming in and they can pay their bills. In this case Dr. Buehler is a solid pediatrician in my limited experience. He's there for my kid when we need his services, he's personable, he's not condescending (a problem with most pediatricians I find), and my kid is OK with him as well and we have been seeing him nearly a decade. From that perspective what's not to like and if it was that alone would give him a four or five stars. But sadly, as Kristi in her reviews nails it, his office staff is garbage and it's not his recent batch of employees, they have always been that way no matter who is working in the decade I have been using his services. They are rude on the phone and in person, they routinely overbook which means you are often waiting up to two hours after your appointment just to see the doc (and this isn't one-time something came up, this is every time I have seen him all that time), the parking is horrible, and the office itself is dirty and crumbling to the point he reminds me of a strip mall "pain doctor" or a free clinic. Mr. (not Dr.) Buehler really needs to dump some money on renovations as well as modern office practices and employees that actually remember they are not a charity and we are paying customers and treat us as so. Offices like this stay in business because regulatory capture, not because of competency and quality which is a sad commentary. So to recap, Dr. Buehler is good if you need a pediatrician, Dr. Buehler LLC is a nightmare which you should avoid unless you can't find anybody else or don't mind putting up with being dehumanized and treated as garbage by staff while you wait in a rundown dump. Where you draw the line between them, well that's up to you. I've stuck with him because end of day most of your choices (and all the ones I have found) for pediatricians in this state are just as bad if not worse and after exploring the field, well better the devil you know than the one you don't. read more

ok...so drunken nights are not always a good idea... i got off my friends motorcycle and burnt part of my calf on the pipe thingy ma-bober... ouch! the wound looked funny to me so i decided to go to a doctor today before it gets infected or something (too much watching Monsters Inside Me)... embarrassingly, I don't have a current physician.... my last known doctor is my pediatrician... (i guess i don't get sick too often) so i called them up, explained i was NOT a child anymore, but i had nowhere else to go.. :( she said that my normal pediatrician was not available, but that dr. daniel buehler was....this was fine with me... headed down there.... waited in the waiting room with all at least 3 children, and 1 infant!!! a tad bit weird...then the doc came in to see me...he was super funny, really nice, helpful, and reassuring. plus, he didn't make me feel embarrassed or weird at all! he even suggested that i get a shot, since he looked at my chart (which was dated back when i was eight or something) and noticed that i hadn't gotten it in the last ten years.... for future "grownup" problems i will find a physician more suiting.... but for scrapes and burns i might just stop by here :) read more

Dr. Buehler is awesome!! He's caring, takes his time to answer any questions concerns we have with our boys. Never had any issues with getting in to see him, we even got the same day visit when one of our sons where sick. We transferred over from Kahala's pediatric office with Dr. Ward (not satisfied with that office). Anyways super happy with Dr. Buehler and his staff. The office ladies & nurses were so nice and helpful with getting us set up paperwork & office visits etc.. the office itself's nothing fancy but the high service and professionalism is so worth it. One of the worst doctors I have seen. He couldn't even recommend specific food substitutions for my daughters constipation. He was rude and snappy. He was not helpful in providing the best support for my daughter's digestive issues and her autism. I just moved here and we need to build a good team of providers to support us like we had in California and this doctor was definitely not the right choice. read more

It was easy to make an appointment.Receptionists are friendly. Nursing staff also good and Dr Buehler himself is also good as well. Wait time is quick like less than 10 minutes in the waiting room and patient room.We over went my daughter's history. He is supportive of non vaccinating parents but pushes conventional care. If you're a conventional medicine mom/dad then he's the dr for you and your kids. read more

I would avoid this entire group at Kahala Pediatrics. My daughter who is almost six had been seeing Dr. Buehler since she was an infant and over the years the office has gone very downhill. It's not very clean or inviting and the office staff are unprofessional and rude, and also make careless mistakes on paperwork/records which is why we are finally switching. Every time we went in, it started feeling like the office got worse and worse. I think Peter T.'s review is on point, so second what he says as another long time patient here. As a doctor, Buehler's not bad per say, but really just okay and I never really felt any warmth or genuine concern in his connection or interactions with my daughter. Sometimes he did come across as a little arrogant though. I guess it just wasn't a good fit for us, but I really did try to make it work so my daughter could have consistent care. I think this used to be a decent office, but there are better options so we are moving on. I would like to help someone avoid the troubles and pains we have had here by encouraging you to seek out a better pediatric care provider. read more

Dr. Buehler is AWESOME!!! Both of my kids go to him since they were infants. I've never had a problem with him, his office or his staff. His staff are super nice and friendly, his office is always clean and he is very nice to my kids. My oldest is an introvert, but he was able to draw her out of her little bubble and make her laugh. I have another one on the way, and I plan to take him/her to Dr. Buehler. ALL of my kids will be going to him until they are too old to be seeing a pediatrician. His billing system is simple and fair. No bogus charges that'll surprise you. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!!!! read more
