The kicker was they wanted to charge us P1500 for lighting up fireworks which we did not even ignite near their property line. We were at the public area! I would rather give that money to the coconut seller and her children who were gracious enough to let us launch fireworks in front of their store on New Year's Day 2025. The resort also offered free pick up to and from the Sta. Fe Wharf. Just give them a call or a text message when you get to Hagnaya Wharf. The place is very well maintained and peaceful. No loud noises. They also have their own restaurant, fresh catch are delivered everyday. Majority of the food were good. Their "Bistik" Tagalog needs a little bit of improvement, meat was chewy. The Halo Halo was terrible though. I hope they can improved it. The staff were very polite and attentive. All in all, I highly recommend staying at Anika's. There's a store, some restaurants, souvenir shops, and other snack shops in the area too. The beach is around 5-10 minute walk The CouCou Bar provides basic accomodations with your choice of beds - single or twin. The interior is basic with a small TV, A/C, a cabinet that doubles as the TV stand and a separate toilet and bath. Take note that the bath area does not have a door and has just a bathroom curtain. The toilet area has a door for privacy. When you enter rhe premise, you will pass by their restaurant and the front desk area. Further down is a sprawling front yard and then the two-story villa. The rooms have a long lobby that doubles as a terrace (when you're at the second floor) and a receiving area for guests. Room rates change according to season but on lean months, it ranges from php1200-1800. The staff are all polite and accomodating and gave us a room upgrade free of charge! Definitely a place you should consider when visiting Bantayan Island.

There were a few options…read morethat pop-up, but after reading a few reviews about Sunshine Garden, I went ahead and booked it through Hotels.com Upon arrival, we were greeted immediately by owner, Loraine and her amazing staff. Loraine even provided us a welcome freshly brewed, ice tea. Check-in was easy, and I had two rooms booked, but Loraine only asked for one room deposit. Sunshine Garden is located about a 10-minute walk to the beach, and about a 20 minute walk into town where all the festivities are including local eateries. Very centrally located. Sunshine Garden also provides rental for scooters in house, a full served homemade breakfast. Loraine also cooks bread fresh daily which was delicious. There are about 11 rooms total in this resort. We were on the second floor, with a full balcony at back with a glimpse view of the ocean. I chuckled as I also had a few of a water buffalo and chickens. What a treat! My aunt who joined us was downstairs and she had 3 beds (really huge room), and a beautiful front porch with a table and 2 chairs which we took advantage of nightly. They have a cute gazebo with full dining table and chairs for breakfast or hanging out, including a hammock. They also provided a few books for reading, and a fantastic cat that roams the property and says hello to everyone. There is also an elder dog and apologies that I did not get the name but was also fun to watch roaming. I brought my own coffee and coffee press so you can request hot water thermos that surprisingly, lasted very hot for a full 24 hours. Bathroom and toilet are separate, bedrooms are nice and comfy. There are no phones in the room or TV, but there is a guard 24/7 after evening and the owner Loraine lives on site the property should you need additional amenities. I think the best treat staying at Sunshine Bantayan Garden Resort is the coziness and peacefulness. It is easy access to everything in town like the beach, restaurants and grocery stores, but I think the hidden gem here is their garden. It's like taking a walk in a nature park. So peaceful and very quiet at night. I would return here again when I visit Bantayan Island. Cheers!
