I had gone to this restaurant since I was a freshman here. In the years that have passed, the quality of everything there has gone downhill and I recommend that you save your money and not go. Tonight, I get there around 7:40 and we decide to sit outside. 10 minutes have passed so I ask my boyfriend to go in and mention that we haven't even been greeted yet. Another 10 minutes goes by, with a woman coming out to clear tables and a male server to check his table and bring them out more drinks. My boyfriend goes in again and is told a server will come out asap. Another 10 minutes goes by and I flag down the male server and ask him where is our server. Almost 40 minutes since we got there another male server comes out saying that we are going to hate him but they close at 8:30, yet the time posted on their own website says 9. Also, the whole time we were outside the people on the inside were getting served left and right. I understand kitchens close before the restaurants do but it is ridiculous for us to have been sitting there for almost 40 minutes, not have even been greeted, offered drinks, or even simply told that they do close at 8:30 that night. If we were told that when we first sat down, we would have gladly gotten our food to go and went home. Save your money and go to mediterranean across the street that has better food, or wait till Glorybound opens back up. This "Tuscaloosa Staple" isn't going to be around much longer if they train their servers to just be so inconsiderate. read more

My friend and I decided to go here and we sat outside for 15-20mins with no one greeting us. When we walked in, it was not super busy and there was even a sign that said "Please seat yourself". The male server, I think his name was Felix, was serving the outside tables walked outside behind us and dropped off drinks at and went back inside. Best Burger and apps in Tuscaloosa. The burger has that char like it's off the grill at a BBQ - which is hard to find these days. The best apps here are the buffalo dip and the mac and cheese bites. The buffalo dip was nothing like I had ever experienced, great buffalo flavor, and it's actually not that spicy for those who aren't big on heat. You still get the great flavor with it though! The fried mac and cheese bites are amazing. They actually are creamy and taste wonderful A lot of times "fried mac and cheese bites" are dry due to all the breading, but they nailed it here. The only reason why it's not 5 stars is the wings aren't exactly the best, and the tater tots/fries were mediocre. Other than that, this place rocks and I def will return! read more

Just continues to go down hill every year. We were just served THE WORLD'S SMALLEST & MOST BURNT WINGS. Congrats on setting a new record for poor quality food. This used to be my all time favorite spot in Tuscaloosa, AL. I even made it a point to stop in for lunch or dinner every time I visit from Birmingham. I have seen the place get progressively worse during recent visits. It is located in the absolute #1 best spot in Tuscaloosa. PRIME REAL ESTATE!! It is a shame it has become what it is now!! I think the owners/managers might need to reach out to Bar Rescue and request a visit from John Taffert. Probably the heart of strip, I have been visiting B-Phil's ever since my freshman year of College at UA. I've tried their chicken tenders, wings, boneless wings, buffalo chicken dip, burgers and even salad. Their chicken tenders are decent, sometimes they can be over cooked, but overall edible. Their wings are usually very small compared to other restaurant wings and they don't off you the chance to order hot with lemon pepper sprinkle, nothing to hoop and holler about. Their boneless wings dipped in the hot & Crimson sauce, is one of my favorite orders from here. I had the buffalo chicken dip one time after graduation and it was very tasty, I highly recommend for an appetizer. Their burgers are fare, especially the one that comes with bacon & cheese. The fried chicken salad is my favorite thing to order from here, like who knew their salad would be so good? But its delicious. When it comes to servers it's all a flip of a coin, somedays you might walk in and sit yourself and end up with an insufficient server and somedays you might end up with one of the most hardworking servers there that night. Usually all of the staff is friendly and cheerful and ready to take your order. When it comes to drinks, a crowd favorite is the Philibuster, which is very potent so I advise staying away if you're a light weight. But overall a good restaurant. Highly recommend read more

Buffalo Phil's is your typical college bar/restaurant, and if you attend UA you've definitely been here before (using dining dollars). The atmosphere is very laid back and it's usually easy to find a table. The wait staff is always attentive and the food comes out fast. The food is about what you'd expect from a college bar, but it's a bit overpriced because of the upcharge for dining dollars. Definitely recommend trying it if you're new to town and want to stop in somewhere easy, but don't expect to be blown away by what you eat. read more

Being an Alabama fan living in New Orleans is a nightmare. Any chance I get to visit Title Town I sure do! Passing through here on our way home from Nashville, we decided to stop. I have low expectations for anything in Tuscaloosa just because I'll give it a 10 right away being such a big fan (LOL). Anything here will impress me. I love wings so this was a great spot to check out. I'll admit they have very tiny wings. Like very tiny. I always order 6-8 wings when going somewhere and rarely finish. I'll try them again for sure now that I know what to expect but being a 1st timer I thought they had a wing issue like they received the wrong wings. The ambiance is great. Very sporty historical. We had the queso as an appetizer and I would not recommend that. It was very bland with little flavor. Although Buffalo Phils holds a special place in my heart as a student, the food really is just mediocre. The wings although tasty are always extremely small, and they dont let you choose boneless for their wing lunch special which makes no sense to me. The peanut butter pie was most definitely store bought if I had to guess, but it did taste good so no complaints there. As a former resident of Buffalo NY I like to pride myself in being able to spot a good wing. If your looking for good wings avoid this place at all cost. AKA Wings and Things for those that have been around since the 80's/90's. These wings are by far the best I have ever had. The sauce has just the right amount of vinegar and heat. If you like big wings don't eat here. One of the best parts about these is that they are small enough to crisp up nicely. Love that they swim in the sauce when you order garlic hot, I always put my extra sauce on my fries with some blue cheese, it should truly be on the menu. I also appreciate that you get carrots and celery on the side and extra sauce is only .25 instead of an insane $1 you might find elsewhere. I am happy to say my husband agrees these are the best wings anywhere and he looks forward to our visits to Tuscaloosa just so we can come here. Buffalo Phil's is a staple restaurant and bar for UA students. Not only are there a variety of delicious cocktails, appetizers, and wings available for a great price, but they also accept dining dollars! I come here at least 3 times a month with my friends to unwind after class or celebrate the weekend. I'm not sure if they still do it this year, but my friends and I used to tune in for live music night at the bar Thur-Sat, and would see some fantastic local bands and have a great time. Aside from live music, they also have an ongoing playlist that is easily one of the best I've ever heard! Every song is better than the last and will have you saying, "I LOVE this song!" Great location but... I went there on one of the worst days ever (hungover and all) thinking a nice meal would be great but alas it failed my expectations highly. We got the queso and it tasted like dog food for some reason? It was also watery. The chicken wings are microscopic. They must be using baby chicks because they lack meat. I took one bite of the chicken wing and all I got was bone and crust. Go here if your into that. The Buffalo chicken dip is absolutely AMAZING, but some of the other food, like the chicken or the sandwiches, isn't as good and can taste kinda stale. The burgers are fairly decent however. The staff is nice, but it can be really hard to find a seat here just because it's so popular.
