I got my car detailed for the second time by Ivan's today. I normally detail myself and am very…read moremeticulous, but nothing beats a professional wax job. This time, I had recently gotten back from a 10 day trip down to San Diego and back via the coast, so while my car wasn't really dirty (I put it through a touchless car wash about a week ago), the exterior was definitely in need of some love. The first time I got my car detailed, Ivan's staff came out and washed the car thoroughly, used a clay bar, and polished. I was really happy with the result. I just moved into a new house and hadn't gotten around to buying a hose, so I wasn't even sure if Ivan would be able to do an exterior detail. We corresponded via text and he assured me that he had all the supplies he needed and we made a plan for him to come to my house first thing in the morning. He arrived on time and got right to work. He used a waterless cleaner with clay to start, cleaned and dressed the tires, wiped down the windows, and polished. He answered my questions about the products he used and even recommended a plastic restorer he sells. In the morning sun and with my mask fogging up my glasses, I missed some bugs on the side mirrors and front end during my initial inspection. I also noticed that the wheel wells were still really dirty. I took pictures and let Ivan know, and he came back in the afternoon to clean everything up. He even offered to throw in a bottle of the plastic conditioner he had mentioned, which was a nice gesture. I'm pretty happy with the result, though I still think a proper wash would have removed some of the dirt and hard water built up in some crevices. I'll do a hand wash later in the spring to take care of that. While I'm not as happy this second time as the first, I would definitely ask Ivan to detail my car again and am willing to bump up to a 5 star review for a really spotless finish.

What's inappropriate is refusing to stand behind your work when a customer raises legitimate concerns after spending around $7,500 on a full vehicle wrap and related services. My intention was simply to have a professional conversation and give you the opportunity to inspect the areas I mentioned. Multiple installers have already pointed out the same issues with visible edges and areas that were not properly tucked. That's not an accusation--it's a quality concern. Went…read moreto another mechanic on the weekend in Davis who quoted me $900+ to replace my steering angle sensor after they just ran diagnostics for ABS. I knew that couldn't be the problem so I took it to Autobahn Davis for a second opinion. Gene was awesome! I honestly didn't think they could find the solution since I was trying for days (unplugged my brake fluid sensors, tried holding up the parking brake pedal, constantly adjusting my turns to see when it would appear). It was driving me crazy, but they managed to find the issue in less than 2 hours! Turns out my aftermarket CarPlay wasn't properly installed to hide the wires lol. The first time I got off his lot, it started beeping again, and Gene took it back the same day and solved it again. The time he took to solve my problem was less than the time it took for the other mechanic to even diagnose my sensors as the issue haha. Good to know nothing was actually wrong with my car. I appreciate Gene for walking me through the process too, he showed me what he discovered behind my head unit, and it was a mess. He taped off all the exposed ends from those wires that the person who installed it for me didn't properly do, and I haven't heard a beep since! I also had one of my headlight bulbs replaced, and Gene also did that pretty quickly, plus it's been working well. This is my first car, so finding a reliable mechanic in Davis was really important to me, and Autobahn Davis definitely met my expectations :)

They only detailed the interior, but the results were excellent. The car is about 14 years old and had some pretty bad stains from spills that had built up over the years. After the detailing, the interior looked almost like new. The job ended up taking quite a while, but the detailer was extremely thorough and worked consistently throughout the entire process. I really appreciated the attention to detail and the good communication along the way. This was also a special project because the detailing was part of a gift for my parents' 40th wedding anniversary, so I was very happy with how the interior turned out.
