The selection of flats on Keatons Hackey's books is a little limited but then these are interesting times when it comes to property. Located just near Primark on Mare Street, Keatons almost resembles the famous Foxtons buildings but in a more autumnal palette. It's not hard to spot and definitely worth popping in for a chat with the agents if you're looking for a flat in the Victoria Park/London Fields area.

I rented a flat in Putney through them and overall, received professional, courteous and prompt service throughout. Everything went pretty smoothly from the beginning. I strolled into their offices, set out my requirements and budget. Shortly afterwards I had an appointment a few days later to view a couple of flats. Two weeks later with plenty of support from them I had moved in. They were highly professional throughout, giving me plenty of notice of impending quarterly inspections and agreeing to move the date when I was working at home one day. They supplied me with all the information I needed to connect my utilities, stressed their compliance with the Govt's tenant deposit protection scheme and even - a really nice touch which I appreciated - sent me a card signed from everyone I'd met welcoming me into my new flat. Wow! Just one issue prevents them from getting 5 stars, namely a slight hitch over my securing of the flat. I had been due to view the flat on a Wednesday but couldn't due to Allan Fuller's inability to get the keys. I then had to ring them for a new appointment and by the time I got one, on Saturday, I was told the flat was under offer. To their credit they allowed me to view the flat anyway, but all of a sudden I found myself in a bidding war. Maybe that's all part of the territory in the highly-competitive world of London property but the fact is that I wouldn't have been in that situation if I had been able to see and bid for the flat on Wednesday. Anyway, it's a relatively small blemish, and one which wasn't repeated for the rest of my stay. When I gave my notice to move out, they recommended cleaners that met their requirements in the contract and showed plenty of flexibility when I had some last-minute hitches. Best of all, they acted professionally and fairly in the return of my deposit, docking only the cost of a small light bulb that I had forgotten to replace. In short: I highly recommend Allan Fuller as a professional, fair and flexible estate agent.

I rented my first Shoreditch flat through this relatively small but efficient and knowledgeable real estate agency and would definitely use Peach again. The staff have generally either lived in the area or do so at present and are particularly knowledgeable about Shoreditch's Victorian built Boundary Estate where many local residents rent one and two bed properties. All in all a charming little real estate agency that goes some way to dispelling the myth that all real estate agents are cowboys.

Luckily Living London provided a great service and found me a nice place which was exactly how they described it. They even managed to bargain with the landlord to reduce the rent! The process was very simple from laying down a deposit to moving in - as with any estate agents, you do unfortunately have to pay an admin fee which was around £75 and does bump up the cost but the property and service was worth it. The only thing which concerned me was that I knew the person who had looked at the flat just before me (a work colleague) and discovered this in conversation with her when asking why she was so upset. Apparently the flat had been promised to her by Living London and she was about to pay the deposit when the next person who viewed put theirs down immediately and so got the property. I didn't let on that the person was me but did feel bad for her. Unfortunately estate agents are quite ruthless and the property will go to the person who puts their money where there mouth is first.
