Holy moly this place is bomb.com Came around 1:00pm on a Saturday and was seated right away. There was Korean TV on the screens, customers speaking in Korean and I felt like I walked in and was transported to Korea! Definitely a homey hole in the wall feel. Ordered the ox knee and black goat and both were so so good! I loved all the tendons in the ox knee. Tastes perfect with the dipping sauce. The little round spices in the black goat got a little in the way of enjoying the soup but not too bothersome. The black goat goes so well with the green onion dipping sauce as well! They also provide extra pepper and vinegar on the side for you to season to taste. Loved the banchan too, nothing was too fermented or too spicy, everything was super tasty and just right. I really enjoyed the Korean soups here. The soups are authentic, contain fresh ingredients, good portion size, and they are some of the best Ktown has to offer. Lot of the older locals come here which tells you this spot is amazing. Small mom and pop shop, and the parking lot can be packed at peak times. I like coming here for breakfast to start my day with their awesome soups. The galbi tang has a solid portion of beef compared to other spots, and the beef is so tender. My friend was feeling sick so I had to get some soup for him. Oh, and it had to be some type of Korean comfort food so I decided to come here since he specifically did crave for Sunji Gook which is like an ox blood hangover soup. FYI, gook in Korean means soup and Sunji being ox blood, it literally translates to Ox Blood Soup and is usually eaten after heavy drinking. I personally never had ox blood soup nor do I ever want to try it but thanks to Yelp, I was able to find a restaurant that actually sells it and they seem like they are known for hangover soup in general. I placed an order over the phone and picked it up about 15 minutes later. I also placed an order Moo Gook which is Korean Radish Soup and it is one of my favorite Korean soups. This soup has pieces of tender beef with thinly sliced Korean radish and the soup is clear but very flavorful. Many Koreans like to eat it with rice thrown into the soup but I personally do not like to eat it that way so I ate it separately with kimchi they provide with the order. They give you the traditional cabbage kimchi as well as radish kimchi which is called Kkakdugi. The lady who helped me get my order was kind and friendly. Each soup is packaged with care in its own paper bag with the restaurant's name on it. Private lot is available and they will let you park your car on the side if you're just picking up your order. They do not offer contactless pay at the moment so please have your plastic ready for payment or cash. read more

My mom has been craving sunji haejang gook (ox blood soup) so we decided to come here for breakfast. We arrived at 9AM on a Friday morning, and the place was fairly empty -- we were seated immediately and placed our order. I got an ox knee soup and my mom got sunji haejang gook with extra sunji for $1. Our food came out pretty quickly, and it was my first time trying ox knee soup, but I believe it's the tendon and I loved the gelatin-like texture it had. The ox knee soup is pretty much a sulrungtang with ox knee meat instead of brisket. The soup/broth was also very rich and flavorful, and just like any Korean-American should, I added spicy radish soup and salt & pepper in there to intensify the flavor. I was a little disappointed at the portion of the ox knee -- I only got 3-4 pieces and I felt that there should have been a little more in there. My mom enjoyed her sunji haejang gook, but she was disappointed that it was frozen not fresh. I'm surprised she noticed right away, but she also said that it's pretty much impossible to find fresh sunji in the US, but she said the soup was still pretty good and she enjoyed the extra portion of sunji. The banchans were also pretty good -- I really feel like LA does their banchan over the top because even the kimchi tastes so good here. Our server was also very nice and she made sure we were taken care of the entire time. I ordered the haejang gook and galbi from doordash and after eating the soup I immediately started to feel a little queasy. Later I developed a fever and cold sweats and my body started to tense up throughout the day. Still I went to bed feeling uneasy hoping that it would go away. It didnt - I woke up to the most explosive diarrhea and had to keep going througout the day. Took some immodium and pepto bismol and it seemed to settle but think going to the dr for some antibiotic wouldve been better. Its been awhile since Ive gotten food poisoning but this was the first time feeling sick the day of. Usually I dont notice anything until the next day when I wake up. Guess that speaks to how bad their food contamination really is. Looking at the reviews this seems to be an ongoing problem. Ive reported them to the health department. I was feeling sick this morning, and i knew i wanted some warm Korean comfort/healing food. I looked and discovered bulrocho. Had the Sul Lung Tang delivered. Sul lung tang is an ox bone marrow soup that is perfect for cold days or when you're feeling sick in bed. The soups are intentionally very bland so that you can season it yourself with green onions, salt, kimchi, and chili paste however I felt like the Sul long tang here was already seasoned with salt. I would have preferred it bland, but it was as still very delicious, and will definitely be ordering from here again. I was also very pleasantly surprised that they give you two carefully wrapped Korean chili peppers (gochu) with fermented soybean paste (doenjang). In addition to this they give you two different types of kimchi. For delivery it is $5. They are also on doordash. read more

As a non-Korean, I've been coming here for 9 years and it's consistently gone unnoticed because it specializes a few soupy dishes that aren't what most people go for when they think "Korean". It's pretty simple: you choose 1 of 3 soups (chicken, hangover, or goat soup) Chicken ginseng: a whole small chicken stuffed with rice, also veggies, dates and herbs; super clean and excellent for someone feeling under the weather. Hangover: for the more-adventurous types because it has some chunks of meat, oxblood and tripe in it; awesome for yeah hangovers and Goat: my personal favorite, a perfect balance of herbs, spices, vegetables, and gamey meat; great for all occasions I'm happy to see that it's still doing well under covid circumstances and felt safe going the other day when they converted most of the parking lot into an outdoor, socially-distanced, and tented dining setup. Parking might be a bit tough since the restaurant next door (Parks BBQ) always draws a crowd. You probably won't be able to finish the whole serving of soup since you're also eating rice and delicious banchan (free side dishes), which is awesome since they usually refill your soup when you ask for a takeout box. Despite coming for so many years, nobody ever remembers me, so it feels like everybody's extra nice to me (as an outsider?) Whenever I leave LA I try to make this a priority on my return. Came here for date night because I rediscovered a dish I loved back in high school - Goat soup! We had ordered the medium goat soup on the stove top not the individual strews. I wanted to grab dinner prior to heading to my friend's party that's also in Koreatown. My bf and I decided to check out Beverly Soon Tofu because tofu soup sounded excellent on such a cold, windy night. Unfortunately, the restaurant was packed with a long waiting list, which was how we ended up at Bulrocho Korean Restaurant. Bulrocho seemed pretty legit and authentic because everyone in the restaurant was older and speaking Korean. Our server was a middle-aged lady who was very motherly and nice, and attempted to explain the menu to us in English. My bf ended up ordering a kimchi and pork stir fry, which included purple rice and kimchi soup. I ordered the sullongtang (beef broth with thin noodles), which also came with purple rice. The sullongtang was an unseasoned white colored broth with lots of meat and tendon. I seasoned the broth to my liking with some salt and black pepper provided at the table. In my opinion, Bulrocho's broth tasted richer and heartier than Sun Nong Dan. There wasn't a lot of noodles, but I was OK with that. Overall, despite the fact that Bulrocho wasn't in our plan, we were pleasantly surprised at how the food exceeded our expectations and how cheap our total came out to be. We ended up taking a ton of leftovers to go for another meal. Only complaint is the fact that all the banchans were heavily seasoned with spice, so I wasn't able to eat anything. read more

3.5 stars - We almost pulled away when we saw the $3 dinner valet parking sign (Honestly, why is every lot upping its price?). But I'm glad we stuck around and gave this place a try! They actually validate parking so the total ended up being $1.50. It's written in Korean by the door - but I question how many people actually/can read it.. especially since no one has mentioned it on Yelp. Anyways back onto the foods - known for their goat dishes. My husband and I ordered their goat soup each. Flavor was spot on but didn't have enough meat - I counted 4 bite pieces total. We had to rely on the banchan to fill our stomach. This restaurant is such a hole in the wall for non Koreans because the restaurant name is literally in Korean! It's in a small plaza with little parking, but the food is extraordinary. It isn't common you find a place with goat stew in the first place, but this place really does it right. It's a bit pricey at around $44 for a small stew - could probably feed 3 people really well, maybe even 4, since my boyfriend and I always have leftovers. At the end of the meal they make a dankkkkk fried rice with the leftover soup which is to die for!! If you wait a bit it can make a nice crunchy crust on the rice and let's be real that's all I'm here for. :) read more
