I give credit where credit is due and the only thing I can say is at least they kept most places of the building clean. I started community because I needed to go to school but I originally was gonna transfer and my guidance counselor told me to transfer from community cause it was "easier", personally not my case but it does depend on per person. I want to also say I do have anxiety disorder and speech. And severe ocd. I am diagnosed since I was a child. I do take medications. So I was prepared for anything or so I THOUGHT. the first day of school for me WAS awful which I should've seen coming. I was already anxious kid but when I walked in the staff completely ignored me - but I gave it okay because my parent is a teacher I totally understand the stress it was crowded mildly. I asked a question and finally someone told me the direction turns out he took me to the wrong area - then they asked another person who told me to go to point b and IT WAS THE WRONG AREA. getting lost was okay because I knew college was gonna be like that. After I finally founded my orientation station the guy was so RUDE AND MEAN! I tried making small talk like hellow happy first day and he was like yeah not happy for me. Like OK so sorry to bear that and he asked me to sign up for my personal email thing and I was having trouble and basically when I told him he said what are u deaf and took my computer and did it for me but my lord is was so unwelcoming. So I went home with a pit in my stomach. I gave it THREE weeks before I quit and left. Basically when I picked for classes at the meeting class thing. THEY WERE SO UNHELPFUL - first off these grown as women were in front of me acting all high and mighty like ma'am ur 30 I'm 19 please don't act like u weren't 19 before and didn't know anything. Anytime someone asked a question they would snicker and the staff would see and laugh a little TOO!??! LIKE WHAT. THEN they messed up my schedule I told them my major but they didn't tell me I needed to take a math and English they just gave me a few art classes and told me I'm good. Then for finial aid I had no idea about this fee for and the girl there was like well I did mine last year so I can't really help u. Like SCREE U AND FREAK OFF UR THE FREAKING STAFF WHAT RHE FREAK. then my classes started after I managed to get fixed. And let me tell u OMG! u will be lucky if u find some good professors I only found one out of six classes who was SUCH AN AMAZING GUY. HE REALLY CARED ABOUT WHAT HE TAUGHT. my math professor kept yapping about her alcoholic issues and my graphic professor would just assign us stuff and not really teach. I know people say community College is bad and I just want to preference by saying that is not TRUE. there are so many community colleges that are so caring and actually care about education. This however is NOT IT! they were super unwelcoming, you only get stuff done if u literally dominate them. And honestly I know in my classes the way the interactions was so weird like I don't know if some students aka grown ass people and teachers acting like this is high-school. This one girl didn't have a chromebook and this grown ass teacher was like what u can't afford it? Like sir no she can't so what, u can HELP HER?!?! MAKING HER FEEL BAD FOR WHAT??! I excepted some maturity because highschool was the worst but whew i was clearly wrong. Im now in a art college waiting to transfer to a art uni so it worked out for me. Moral of the story honestly NO PLEASE GO TO A DIFFERENT COMMU ITY COLLEGE LIKE NORTSHORE OR SOMETHING. THIS school is so unprofessional. Excuse me if this list isn't exactly ordered logically, I'm kinda just writing down my thoughts as I remember them: I signed up with BHCC in Spring 2012, assuming (since they say it's a 2 year degree) that I'd be done in 2014. Ha! They neglected to mention that that timeline only applies to full-time students, so hey if you're working or otherwise unable to attend full time, go fuck yourself. Their class schedule is just terrible. The school is designed around full-time daytime students, so if you're working or a parent or whatever, good luck finagling your credits per semester. Of course, they have tons of classes at 7-9 AM (?!) and on Saturday/Sunday mornings, but it's like they don't think people work 9-5. Also, as an IT student, this place horrifies me. Not only are the computers outdated and clunky, but the IT faculty is seriously questionable. I'm constantly getting emails from the IT department that are full of Comic Sans, !!!!!!superfluous!!exclamation!!! POINTS!!!! AND!!! CAPS!!!!! and just...terrible grammar, spelling, layout, everything. I've actually taken screencaps of how hideous and confidence-torpedoing these emails are. (Which I'll try to add to this review.) Another sucky thing they do is milk the student body for free labor. Seems like almost every class I take now comes with a group project attached, and those projects always happen to be research projects involving things at the school (Their energy consumption is one that sticks out to me). Personally, I absolutely hate group projects and would always, always prefer to work alone, but usually I can tolerate it. Except...again, they assume you're a full-time daytime student. It's not like adults have schedules that don't allow them to run around the school doing the school's fucking work at all hours. And who the HELL thinks math needs group projects? Honestly, what planet is this school being run from? It's a good thing that they have frequent career and transfer fairs, but guess what? They are, without fail, always in the middle of the fucking work day. What am I supposed to do, pop over on my lunch break for 10 minutes before having to go back to work? It's seriously like they're totally disconnected with the world. As other people have mentioned, the administrative side of the school is a nightmare. Until this current semester, they wouldn't tell you if your financial aid didn't go through or something, they'd just drop you from whatever you registered for with no warning or notification at all. I found out I was on academic probation nearly a month after trying to register for classes. They sent a letter mysteriously postmarked for late July that didn't arrive until mid-September (And to get off probation? I had to appeal it by mid-August). They sent an email about probation that SO VERY TYPICALLY OF THEM contained absolutely no fucking information, only telling me that I had to come in to some gab session to find out about it. They don't even have information about it on their website. Their registration system has, every single semester, refused to acknowledge prerequisites that I've met. Nobody ever, ever answers their phones. If you ask five different people the same question, you'll get five different answers. None of the registration people seem to know what they're doing, and a lot of them serve you a lot of attitude for simple things. I could go on and on about the crappy things at this crappy excuse for a college, but I should mention that (most) of the teachers are actually pretty great. I've had one jackass teacher (Looking at you, Banjo), two indifferent online teachers, and a few great ones. The two greats are Ken Melillo and Ellen Ford, both math teachers, and both absolutely wonderful amazing people. They're both sensitive to the needs of working and otherwise very busy and tired adults (Having to miss class/leave early/etc), explain the material thoroughly and carefully, and are willing to help whenever they can. One of these teachers came in early numerous times to help me, and another let me raincheck a midterm just because it fell on my birthday (Yes, I'm a whiny baby who doesn't like to do anything on my birthday). Seriously, these are A+ teachers. In conclusion, I've hated my time here at this glorified high school, and can't wait to transfer the hell out of there. read more

This review pertains primarily to BHCC as an employer of adjunct faculty. There are better places to work! BHCC administrators and department chairs are, in some cases, completely detached and do not know what is going on. Promises are made that are not kept, there is no effort to include adjuncts in school business such as department/division meetings, there are frequent disruptions to electronic services, and some favored faculty get all the courses to teach and others get nothing. The problem starts at the top with a president who is a politician rather than an educator. The HR department handles the hiring process poorly. From a student's point of view, it does have many programs if earning cheap credits is a priority. Moodle, which is used for online courses, is not a good platform and has frequent disruptions. Better choice....go to UMB and earn your credits there! read more

I have to say that in the time I've been here.. the volume of students is just getting out of hand. Every time class lets out, it's like a tsunami of people up and down the halls. Good luck parking in the first lot if you're a driver. I've had days where I would park at the end of the second lot.. AT THE END! This is just insane and it's getting worse every semester. And don't get me started on how they keep changing requirements for degrees. The Disability Department doesn't care about helping students with learning disabilities. I was basically called a spoiled brat by them for requesting more time on assignments to a professor who refuses to help. I should have filed a complaint that time but I was too shocked by my treatment by the staff members and I couldn't process what was happening. Who is running this school and who is hiring these cr@ppy and unqualified staff? I feel terrible about my FAFSA money going to waste at this school. It's not all bad however, some professors are really kind and helpful. I still wouldn't recommend this school to anyone because the negatives tend to outweigh the positives here. read more

One of the best community colleges out there. You can get every opportunity if you seek it in the campus. They have study abroad program, which is awesome. Good jobs in campus and pay well Professors are helpful and knowledgable. For diligent students, it is very easy to get As. Some negative comments. Computers are pretty obsolete and contain outdated software. The smart boards are not as smart as they say. Food and coffee in the cafeteria is awful. One more thing, I hate the tailored textbooks of BHCC. It makes very difficult to sell back. I got the marketing textbooks and the chapters as well as page numbers are all mixed up. Lets start off with saying that writing this review began with a google search of 'i hate bunker hill community college'. I am literally at my wits end with this hell hole. I've been here for three years, and even if i get accepted into their nursing program i don't even know if it will be worth the frustration of dealing with this place for another 2 years. Thats how bad it is. Many of my professors have been absoultely horrific. They are not committed to their jobs here. Many are adjunct faculty, which means teaching a class or two here is just a part-time way to supplement their income from their regular or other teaching positions. Some are high school teachers full time, others teach at other colleges. This has been extremely frustrating when I became a full time student here and was completely invested because i quickly realized that they were not. Many are unresponsive, unreliable and put little effort into anything they do here. I've taken more than a handful of online courses, most of the work done this way is electronically graded quizzes and homework. This means the only thing your professor has do the entire semester is answer your questions and maybe grade a midterm and or final. Yet many of them can't even seem to do that adequately. Yes, I've had a few caring and brilliant professors but they are unfortunately far and few. Ever horrible professor I've ever had has a correspondingly horrible rating on ratemyprofessor.com with the lack of employment for teachers/professors you would think the college would crack down and only employ professors with good reputations. Such is not the case. One professor had at least 15 horrible ratings on this site, spanning at least 3 years and STILL works here. I had a professor who refused to accept my disability accomodation (WHICH IS ILLEGAL!). The same professor also stated in his syllabus that his entire course was based on 4 exams only. I got at least a B on all four exams, and he gave me a D. I ended up having to take the course again. The administration here is by FAR the worst part of the college. I've had to put a forebearance on my loans more than once due to the amount of time it takes them to process their deferments. They send deferments to the clearinghouse, yet they still take forever. When you bring in a paper deferment...well good luck to you, because it will probably never get done. I've even had my credit reported on WHILE i was in school all year and my loans were supposed to be deferred. This place is unforgiveable. I was academically suspended in the Fall after having a 3.15 g.p.a and all b's or higher in the prior semester and year. That should have never happened. I had to jump through hoops and almost had a heart attack trying to reverse it in time to register. My fiancial aid was even still suspended after I was granted an appeal and had to go through a lengthly appeal proecess in order to even become eligible for a federal loan, it took them THREE MONTHS to read my 'letter' and look at my transcript and approve or deny me. I kept asking when this would be done and they kept putting me off. I finally complained an somebody did it on the spot for me...it took all of 30 seconds for them to approve me....NICE! Furthermore, nobody who works there knows what they are talking about, although they *think* they do. If somebody who works in registration tries to tell you that you 'can't' do something and that there is 'nobody' to talk to about your issue or that nothing can be done. There is always a way, you just have to search and search and search until you find somebody intelligent, and connected enough to help you find somebody with the power to fix your problem. Unfortunately at this school, people who have no authority tell you things authoritatively...extremely frustrating. My 'advisor' who has worked here for 20 years tried to give me a lower level course for a transfer credit, even though the course description was an exact match for the higher level course (science courses, so this is a big deal). She told me there was 'no one else' to talk to about this that there was no way around this. Turns out she was wrong. I talked to the transfer counselor and a year later, I have credit for a higher level course. The WORST part about this was that the class was another mass community college! My gpa also didn't transfer...you'd think they'd have this syncronized BY NOW! They never pick up the phone, never call you back, are never willing to help....the list goes on and on and on. The worst part is, that now they are admitting too many new students. I'm supposed to graduate and I can't even get into the required courses the semester before graduation FOR graduation. They also now have 'on the spot' acceptance for new applicants! Seriously!?! I can't even get into a SINGLE LITERATURE course and you are accepting new applicants on the spot!?! I get it a community college is FOR EVERYONE to come with an acceptance letter but jesus christ waitlisted classes all the time is frustrated, especially when you are trying to juggle work full-time and being a full-time student too. I attended BHCC full time for a semester, while working pretty much full time too. I had been suspended from UMass for a semester, and instead of just taking the semester off I decided to take the route of many other students; work and take classes. The professors at BHCC could very easily teach at any 4 year school; public or private. Believe it or not, several professors at BHCC teach there because the level of involvement with students is far greater than you'd find at a major university. Small class sizes help discussions to take place even in an introductory level course. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend BHCC to anyone. read more

I'm sure this college is not as good as it gets, but it serves its purpose. I came from a private university and began taking classes some classes here. It's a great college for working adults, parents, or anyone who isn't one hundred percent sure on what direction their meant to take in life. My experience has been that the professors are willing to work with you to achieve your goals. They're very intelligent and motivational. The professors tend to be understanding of personal issues that arise and are accommodating. I've only had one professor who I didn't care for so far. Also, I like how diverse the campus is. There are people from all walks of life and some interesting discussions take place. The computer lab and language center are state of the art. Thank God they don't charge to print. Also, they've just opened a gym in the building, so you can exercise in between study breaks. Childcare is provided onsite for families. The library use a makeover, though. I've only eaten once at the cafeteria, but it's nothing special. One downside is the administrative aspect. The enrollment process is a pain, the financial aid line is always long. It does seem as if you have to go back and forth between the same two areas before anything is accomplished. Oh, well. Such is life. Be prepared to spend about 2 hours here if you need any schedule adjustments. The college is relatively inexpensive, so you can spend two years here, get your credits and transfer. read more

Multiple emails for help and zero responses. If I had to go back and decide on a community college to attend, definitely would not go back to Bunker Hill. Literally the registration and navigation process of this school is harder than the actual classes.

Now I have only had two classes so far, but have to say, I am impressed. I have decided to try to learn a second language (spanish). Now, as anyone knows, there are plenty of ways to do this, from online classes, CD's, private tutors, immersion, or schooling. I decided going to school would be the best option for me, as it has a more social aspect, versus sitting at home alone doing it. social is always good. So I signed up at BHCC. Tuition, fees, etc is very inexpensive (and I am a graduate of Umass-Amherst, so I am used to reasonable education costs versus a private school - BHCC is downright cheap!), and books were reasonable. So far, after starting, I am very pleased. The class size is reasonable (31 students), and the professor is AMAZING. He is from Chile, and very energetic, very well spoken, and very excited about the material and helping people learn. I have had other professors who seem to have trouble teaching and dont want to be there, so it is nice having one who genuinely seems to enjoy it! I cant speak of degree programs, advisors, etc or antyhing like that, as I plan on taking this class (then spanish 2 and 3) and nothing more. but based just on this, I would highly recommend to anyone! It changed my perception of a community college so far. read more

Overall, the experience is a negative one. Especially their online "Moodle" education sytem... it's archaic and administrated terribly. For the first two weeks of my online course the services were inaccessible, no no no... Then, I was also told that due to being past the add/drop deadline I could only withdraw from the course, not drop and get a refund. What??? On campus the facilities are mediocre, cafeteria is laughable, and faculty are hit or miss when it comes to usefulness. Students beware, only apply here if you must!!! read more

Meh. OK school. Went here for a summer semester while I waited for acceptance to UMass Boston. I had one great teacher, and one not so great one. I used the veterans center to sign up, so that was a breeze. Even still, I had to out the same paper work on two different times I showed up, because they misplaced the paperwork the first time. For those who aren't veterans, the experience looks awful. The lines are always disgustingly long. The school prides itself on diversity but I think it's to the point where it's borderline obnoxious. Most schools have different English courses for ESL students. This one does not. During our peer reviews for my English 112 course I was receiving grammar feedback from many people that still don't have a clue what a preposition is, where it belongs, or why it even exists in English. This isn't their fault or doesn't make them stupid, but it makes for some useless feedback on my part. I was overall very underwhelmed by the experience, and compared to other community colleges, like North Shore Community college in Danvers, I think it ranks up very sub par. If you live North of Boston, NSCC is a much better choice, even if it's a longer drive. read more

In terms of inexpensive tuition,access to online classes and other alternative learning classes (self directed learning), access to computer labs Bunker Hill CC is great. I am an alumnus class of 2013. I studied information technology. All of my credits transferred to UMASS/Lowell. The BHCC website and online services are great. It is easy to evaluate your program and see what courses you should choose on the fly. You can register for courses online. The system works great. It enables students to avoid long lines etc. I needed to send a transcript to Umass/Lowell. No problem! Just go online and for a small fee make the request online. No paper involved. The center for self directed learning just moved to the Kaplan building. It is brand new and very nice. The only problem is the location is not pedestrian friendly. There is NO parking there either so you have to take a kidney punching shuttle bus ride from the main campus or take the MBTA to Sullivan station and brave a "Frogger" like experience as a pedestrian to get there. The shuttle bus is technically wheel chair accessible but I don't think it is a very comfortable ride and perhaps a hardship for disabled students. The student body is numerous!!! It really is getting to be over crowded. I would advise potential students to take as many courses online as possible. The college is in desperate need for a larger campus. The building is waaaay too small for the volume of students in attendance. The college offers support services for students in the form of tax help, social services help. If you are on ssi or any public aid they will help you out with your services. It's not perfect but it far exceeds my expectations. read more

SCHOOL IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT. Forget about the negative reviews and read this. BHCC is a community college. It is not Harvard, so don't expect a top notch experience. Every school has its pros and cons. There are many benefits to attending this school. There is a T-stop right next to the main campus and free shuttles that transport students and staff to and from the Chelsea Campus. Classes are small and most teachers show a genuine care for their students. If you need help, there's a tutoring center. If you can'f afford to buy a book, there's a center that lends out books on a first come first served basis. Lastly, tuition is ridiculously low compared to most colleges and Universities. I attended BHCC from 2009-2011. I graduated with honors and was offered a scholarship given to a student who had completed an Associates degree, had a high GPA, and was transferring to a state 4-yr college. I transferred to UMass Amherst, got an accounting degree, and now have a lucrative job as an auditor for a top public accounting firm. I thank God for this and I'm very glad to have attended BHCC! Work hard, take advantage of the resources out there, and never give up! I hope my advice helps a few of you. ;-) read more

Bunker Hill Community College has been an outstanding experience for me. I went back to school in January 10' due to the economic crisis and the fact that for the type of work I do (accounting) companies wanted a degree. I thought the community college way was the best way to achieve that goal because of the cost. I was kind of skeptical at first because it had been several years several years since I had been to school. However, that skepticism disappeared after the first semester. The first semester I did extremely well. It has continued all during my time at the school. The professors that I've had have been very committed to helping me acheive my goals and to succeed academically. My success can be directly attributed to my professors and has continued throughout my time at the school. I've only had one bad professor since I've been here as a student. I will be graduating in May 12' with a high gpa and I'm looking forward to continuing my education at a four year institution in September 12'. The school and the professors have prepared me well. The other thing I like about the school is the diversity of the student body. There are students at the school that are from different countries and cultures. Which makes for a great experience. The school also has many cultural events in which you can learn about these different cultures. The library could use a makeover and more computers. The schools financial aid department has been outstanding in regards to getting me financial aid. I have been able to receive several pell grants while attending the school. The computer lab is state of the art but a lot of times you have to wait to use a computer. I would suggest that students buy a laptop to avoid the wait. If you want a college life like the likes of ones you'll see on Nickelodeon, this isn't the right place for you. It might help you to get there, but you won't find it here. However, if the purpose for you to attending this school is to get the job done for whatever goals you have, money and time wise, you are at the right place. They are very flexible with credit transfers long as you have the right credidentials and if you study for the placement tests and get a decent score, you can waiver some basic courses that might hold you back for a semester or two. In regards to professors, I haven't met a "terrible" professors yet... The classes are a bit easier compared to four year universities but I think it makes sense because average students here I heard were 31 years old... and probably been out of school for awhile. Its a good place to start to get your "rhythm" back to study and get the confidence you need to move on to the next level. Registering for classes..., no matter what college you are in, students are gonna sign up for classes with professors that have high rating on ratemyprofessor.com. The situation where that class fills up the first couple days is the same for any schools. Also, if you wait til the last minute to sign up for classes, you are not gonna have much choices, like any other institution... I do agree that there are ALOT of students per class and compared to the classes provided by the school. One reason is that there are a lot of part-time students here taking a class or two. Also, for classroom population, its because its two years college and the classes are mostly basic/introductory classes. I don't wanna keep repeating the same things but its intro class and there's going to be 30+++++ students... like any other schools(many other...). In addition, that 30+++++ students during the earlier part of the semester becomes like 15 by the end of the semester.... Financial Aid... same thing as class. As long as you get your stuff done as soon as you are allowed to, you won't have any problems. How much they give you, I can't say but the school seems to be built on "first come first serve" and takes it seriously. If you take your time, you won't be too happy with the result. Also, if you did not take the full 12 credit courses, you can use your fall semester financial aid, if left over, and transfer it for the summer for max of 9 credit I think. The school also has a gym, one-stop service where they help you with tax and other benefits, free-printing at the library********, tap program which they let you rent a test book for free(also first come first serve)... The most inconvinient thing about this school during my 3 semester experience is the clerks(?) or administrators... I actually don't know what to call them. The people there takes ages to get things done and you have to request things to be done, (transcripts, credit transfer, and such) way ahead of time. Simply put, if you get things done, class registration, financial aid, other services, ahead of time, you'll have a blast and find your stay very productive. Never been so disappointed in my life regarding a school that I haven't even attended. All I wanted to do was as a question for transferring and taking a couple courses and all I got was voicemails for EVERY department. The operator was the worst part! She has a Spanish accent and refused to say her name and kept laughing. All she said was that no one could help and "I don't know" to every question I had. What a waste of time! I am taking some IT courses here for work and the enrollment process was pretty painless. The Veteran Center is pretty legit as well, and has been very helpful with all my questions regarding my benefits and my veteran status. Most of my classes are online and are kind of a pain, but the class I am taking on campus is pretty awesome and so is my professor. BHCC has a sense of community that I haven't seen in other CC's or some bigger colleges, in fact. I have to go catch up on my stuff, so much work! read more

For those of us who weren't blessed with the financial ability to attend a four-year learning institution post high school graduation, there is an answer... Bunker Hill Community College. I know, I know... how many times have we seen a grimace and shudder on the college bound's face when the dreaded CC's make their way into conversation. But hey, without Mom and Pop's money to float away to higher education on, there's no better or cheaper way to broaden your horizons. In between working a whole hell of a lot and sometimes having a life, I have taken about 15 courses at BHCC, very slowly making my way toward an associates degree in the arts with a concentration in English. I love that all of my classes have been filled with a diverse group of serious, bright and dedicated students of all ages. You can meet some really awesome people! Most of us are over the age of 21 with full-time jobs and/or families, so we're actually there because we want to be. Most of my professors have been brilliant, entertaining and enlightening. (check out RateMyProfessors.com) AND the fee for each class is a meager $112 a credit. But the best part is that if you maintain a certain GPA you can move on to a four-year state college with a 33% discount! BHCC offers day and night courses, web based courses, self paced courses, and has another branch in Chelsea for those of us living on the other side of the Tobin. Basically, there's something for everyone. Why only the 4 stars? I'm still pissed I had to dish out $154 for my Statistics book the other day. Why must they come out with a new edition almost every semester? Damn text book companies. They're pirates! read more

I am not a student here but I would like to tell you about the admissions people. They gave you absolutely no information. I came three times looking for information on the medical lab technician and they were not helpful in the least. They just seat there looking bored, not helping the students or they attitude is they can't be bother by the students. Fyi, you are not Harvard. Stop acting like a snob. The students are the one paying for you to sit there. read more

What a shitshow this school is. I am actually a student there now and I can honestly say I cant wait to get out. Now let me be clear. I havent had any problems with my classes, Ive had some good teachers and some boring ones but thats all a part of the process. (Thats what the 2 stars are for) But this schools administration SUCKS, youre lucky if you can find a compentant adult to help you but I usually get students who work there who have no idea whats going on. Everything from registaring for classes and so on is a disaster. Especially if you are someone who hasnt been to school in a few years and you need some guidance, you certainly will not get it here. There are crowds of students standing in lines or running around trying to sign up, make payments, or just get answers to their questions. Its a circus. Specifically this semester has been my worst and it just started!!! So... I registered online for a Thursday class from 6-8pm, when I arrive the first day of that class, the teacher tells us all the class is not one day a week but Tuesdays AND Thursdays from 6-8pm. I plus the other 25 students in the class all told the proffesor (who is really nice) what it said online at the time of registration. Alot of the students have other classes scheduled for Tuesday so they could not attend that part of the class. Fast forward a few days and we get an email from the school saying the class will be 6-10pm on Thursday nights!!! Now this is a science and lab class which requires a lot of work. I dont believe cramming everything in in 4 hours is going to prompt positive learning and make it easy for anyomne to get an A. Half the students brains will be so filled with information after the first 2 hours Im sure they will shut down... like myself! They should have done a better job rectifying this issue. But the school doesnt care about its students just about getting paid. Which brings me to my next complaint. When students set up a payment plan for lets say 3 months and the school doesnt recieve one of the payments on their FIRST attempt they cancel it and drop all of your classes. Do they send out a notification email that their first attempt wasnt successful? NO Because they just want their money! They should notify the student and let him/her know they will be trying again and then cancel if they have to. That happened to me and I had to run around trying to fix it. A friend of mine going here was a part of the Target mess with all the credit cards being compromised. So her credit card company sent her out a new card and cancelled her old one. She even called the schools payment company to notify them and they told her she was ALL SET with her payments...a few days later all her classes are dropped! And now shes scrambling around trying to reregistar BUT of course if the classes are "closed" says the school...she wont be able to get back in to any of the classes shes already been in for a week! Which makes no sense to me. Plus she bought all her books already too! Mined you this isnt her fault yet the school puts everything on her. The biggest thing here is that when you do have a complaint or issue at the school there is NO ONE to contact. No email on their website. Its like theres no one in charge ofthis whole operation and everyone is just runnig around doing whatever they want. Where are the higher ups??? read more

I gave them only 2 stars because it means "Meh, I've had experienced better" I have experienced better- at this SAME SCHOOL! .I am on the fence about BHCC. I took some undergrad courses there with the plan of transferring to a 4 year "name brand" school. Think about it. Why pay $2000 for basic college level math or psych class when you can pay less than $200 and it transfers- no problem? So for me it was a chance to get my GPA up and keep my financials low. For that aspect BHCC is great. I found their course schedules varied and accommodating, they even have midnight classes! If you care, really care, about learning there are some really great professors there, you have to take it upon yourself to ask around and find out who they are. Its a case of, you get what you put in. If you want slide thru- you can find those professors too. But don't think there aren't some great teachers there. They are definitely there. You just have to ask other students to find out who they are. I went to my big named college, had a decent career in another field but wanted to switch to something else. So I went back to BHCC. I got into the nursing program and disappointment is a HUGE understatement. You can't seek out the great teachers, because they are in the minority in this program and you don't have a choice as to which professor you get. Students are completely stuck with who they get. STUCK, being the operative word. Their nursing program is disorganized, dysfunctional and a huge disappointment. Its actually a disgrace. They have all the tools to have a great program there, but they lack leadership, organization, COMMON SENSE and teaching ability. The drop out rate is high and the passing rate for the NCLEX is falling. Its not the students. They are A students and high B students. They have to be to get into the program, so from what I've seen and experienced its the program, its lack of leadership and organization and (some) of the teachers. Its such a waste of time, energy, opportunity and money for everyone involved. So- for me there are great teachers and classes for the general school population, but the nursing program is now bordering on a terrible failure. read more

It's a long story, but a worthwhile one to tell... I started here fresh out of high school because my parents felt that I wasn't ready for a 4-year institution, and maybe they were right. With that being said, when it comes to getting anything done here, it seems as though you need to know a password or have magical powers to get it done. Registering classes is like being in a maze, you think you're ahead and you're in the right 20-minute long line, when in fact you aren't and even if you were, you definitely have the wrong paper work. If you are lucky enough to get an advisor, good luck finding them when you're scheduled to meet with them. I was never given an advisor and basically had to rely on an "advising center", which literally is just a group of 3 or 4 student paper-pushers who just sign forms and send you on your way. It stinks when you literally have nobody to help you with registration or withdrawl from a course. I'm now finishing my last class here, and I'm transferring to Framingham state college, and I couldn't be happier to be out of this rat race of a school. With that being said, i can say that i definitely do see the positives in this college as well. if you are low on funds, or if you need to take classes after a GED in highschool, go for it- it's a great place for that. If you are a nursing major, their nursing programs are incredible. basically if you just need general education courses that won't break the bank, this school is good.. but if you have a definite idea of what your major is, and it's not on the course list at this school... well, it just feels like a waste of your time. the way i put it was that going to Bunker Hill for a degree in fashion merchandising or interior design is like going to a dodge dealarship looking for a volvo.... just doesnt make much sense... read more

As a returning student after getting a degree (from another college) I chose to reapply to BHCC to further my education. I reapplied on 8/11/16 (it says online deadline to submit fall application was 9/2/16), I was excited to go back to school. Just to find out a few days later after I called that they wouldn't accept me for the fall because I had miss a deadline to speak to the dean about why I want to come back to school. A deadline which was on 8/15/16 that I didn't know about. It sucks to experience how discouraging this school is and how the people don't care about helping you. The lady on the phone sounded annoyed that I really wanted to come back to school starting in the fall. read more

I can not yet judge the experience of learning at this place but there is one thing I can say for sure. The administration at this school is the worst I have ever had to deal with. I registered to take a summer session of calculus 2 only to realize after 2 classes that my calculus 1 background was too minimal to even attempt to learn calculus 2. I tried calling the school 8 times in 2 days in order to transfer to a calculus 1 class instead of calculus 2 but no one ever answered the phone. Today I show up at the school and explain my situation and I'm told to withdraw from calculus 2 but that I will not get a refund. I ask to speak to a supervisor or another person with higher power over the situation and everyone seems to be on vacation at the same time. I am still in the process of figuring things out but I can already say that I will never come back to bhcc for anything. read more

Took some prerequisites here for a nursing program I was entering and was really surprised by how great the school was. I had anticipated that the classes would be a little easier or less well taught than a standard 4 year university, but the classes were challenging and the teachers and facilities were really great. I took mostly science courses so got a good look at the labs, also did an online course which was very well run and immersive. The teachers were really committed and were very knowledgeable, experienced and always willing to help out students that were having a hard time with the material. I thought briefly about going through the nursing program here because I was so impressed, and am thinking about taking more courses here just to further my educational career. Some reviews I've seen have complained that the administration is hard to work with or disorganized, and maybe because I saw those reviews I really tried to stay on top of all that. I really didn't have any trouble except for a couple small hiccups here and there, but as long as you're on your game, keep yourself organized and keep accurate records of everything you should be fine. read more

This school has so much potential but lacks in administrative support. You can call the school five different times and get five different answers. Many of the departments are supported by apathetic students. Many of the classes have students with behavior issues and sheer disrespect for the teachers and fellow students. Some teachers are very good, however, the adjunct treachers don't have office hours or emails. The math teacher has been late to almost every class...sometimes 45 minutes...unprepared...it seems the Deans need to better manage and over-see the adjunct teachers. read more
