Had an awesome time with Captain Zach, Elijah, and Evan last weekend. Went on a bottom trip and we once we dropped anchor, we didn't need to move again. There was a constant flow of spot. It was a gorgeous afternoon as well and I loved being on board. The captain was very engaging and eager to answer any of our questions. He displayed much patience from making sure everyone was catching and even when I had tried from catching so much, he fished with my rod. His love for what he does really showed through. He gave us a tip for catching them and every time we did it, we hooked up. The mates were awesome and as soon as you had a fish they were there taking it off your hook and putting in your cooler. One even sampled some fresh bunker lol ;-) The captain was even helping out and I don't remember too many if any captains on my previous trips with other vessels helping out like that. A lady on board caught 80 fish! If you are a lover of spot, definitely go with Bunky's. Another boat anchored next to us and was catching as well but they charge more, almost 50% more and I have no clue why. . . . Glad I went with Bunky's. I'm more of a game fisher myself so when there is an opportunity for them I'll be back. read more

Incompetent. Never answered phone calls, didn't return voicemails or reply to any of my multiple emails. Never had a chance to even experience the "service" because the CUSTOMER "service" was non-existent. Purchased a "sunset cruise for two" through a Groupon voucher & Bunkhole's Charter Boats flat out ignores requests for arranging a reservation. Never do business with these shady Aholes, especially through Groupon. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. Terrible, unprofessional experience. My friends and I paid over $100 to get no rockfish, get stuck in the water for nearly two hours because the anchor got stuck, and to get sunburns. The owner offered nothing but grief to rectify the situation. Avoid Bunky's at all costs! Update: I think you're confusing me with another group, because we did not catch a single fish this past Sunday. But thanks for proving exactly what I said by showing your company's failures when it comes to fishing. read more

Wow, wow, wow! So happy we went with this company for a sunset cruise last night! Everything was wonderful, from the pre-event coordination to the customer service. We had 47 people out on the water for a fantastic 3 hour cruise. Brian and Emily gave us five star service the entire night and were hard working and fun to be around! Bunky's Charter Boat is located in Solomons Island on a cute little town strip with stores restaurants and Tiki bars. And nice day get away if you just want to get out the city. There is a pier where u can also fish off if u don't want to pay for the charter boat. Ok with that been said the day I went 7/25/2015 the main boat didn't have a working restroom on it so thankful I got to ride on the smaller boat which they call their over flow boat. The young ladies that took us out was very friendly and great helpers. But I still can believe the big boat went out with no RESTROOM with 33 people on board for 5 hours WOW. The boat leaves at 3pm and u return 8pm. They also have a morning run don't know the time. The cost was $45 and if u need a rod $5 extra not bad.. read more

I rented a small boat with an outboard motor for 4 hours. Upon getting to the dock the boat that we were given looked incredibly dilapidated and not very well maintained. We started with no incident and got to a place to fish, turned off the motor, and dropped anchor. About 45 min later we went to move to another spot. We pulled the cord and the motor did not respond. We pulled the cord again and the entire cord pulled out without retracting. I called the boat house at 10:20 and they said someone would be out to help us in a few minutes. It is currently 11:45 and we are still stuck. I have called back and they said that someone was on their way. This is absurd as we are not very far from the boat house. Never rent from Bunkys! Their boats are of low quality and their staff are not very helpful! read more

SMH.. RAN LIKE A CIRCUS.. Took my husband on Father's Day. We called a week in advance to find out all the info we need. We were told to get there by 5am, if there's over 10 people then the boat will leave by 7am. We live about an hour away so we left our home by 3:45am. As we pull up another family in a car told us that she was informed the same and they were a group of 5. Good now we have 7. We asked the worker and he told us to hold on tight. Other people arrived at 6:30 and put their belongings on a ramp to the boats. We purchased our tickets and we were not the first ones on line boarding the boat. We wanted the back of the boat and instead got the side. They need a number system, first come, first board! The captain on the boat was extremely nice and the workers as well. We didn't have to wake up so early and wait to board almost last. Their system is unorganized and people now and days are not considerate. Next trip won't be there, will try somewhere else! read more

All of the other reviews seem to reference the fishing seen. My husband and I did the Sunset Cruise this past weekend and it was AWESOME. This weekend they had fireworks; however the boat ride alone was spectacular. The boat was comfortable and not too crowded. The crew were super friendly and attentive. We have used Bunky's Charter Boats when friends visit to fish and explore the beauty of the Bay. But this past Labor Day we chartered Bunky's to help transport our guests in town for our daughter's wedding. The boat travelled between the wedding site at our home, the reception site at a local marina, the Tiki Bar for an after party and the hotel. They were fantastic!! The captain (Quentin) and crew were fun, courteous and very careful in making sure everyone got on and off safely and worked well into the night getting everyone where they wanted to go. HIghly recommend the company and their services, especially the boat Marchelle. read more

My fishing charter for striped bass was a HUGE disappointment. It started with our 19-year old captain showing up late and got worse. The capt and crew clearly lacked experience. The setting up of our trolling lines took an incredibly long time and our one fish caused a line tangle that took an hour to sort out. We spent over half of the trip in unproductive deep water setting up and resetting lines! In addition, the captain clearly lacked the experience to try different locations or techniques to find fish. I believe it was a tough day for most, but we did not even try different locations or fishing depths. The trip wrapped up with our hitting another boat while attempting to dock on our return. read more

Awesome charter boats. The biggest drawback is they do not pre sell tickets so you may show up and they not have enough people to go out. They will let the people buy out the remainder of the boat or just wait like we did and more people ended up coming. The crew Mitch and colby were awesome. They taught us how to filet fish and we're very helpful. I will be back many more times. Oh and alcohol is allowed on the boat. read more

Very disappointed. I called in the middle of the week asking about morning trip of Friday. My daughter was here from Oklahoma visiting and wanted to do some fishing and spend time with me. This was very important to me. I was assured there would not be an issue. Arrived early on Friday. Total of five people showed up. They would not take us out unless we paid for 5 more people. They waited long enough before canceling the trip so we were not able to get a walk on with another charter boat. I have heard good things about Bunky's head boat service. I would tell you to use another charter boat. Not sure if Bunky's service is hit and miss or if business is in decline. read more

This place takes crooked to a whole new level. Wow. We usually organize our trip in July but Brian said that we would have to go in June in order to get Rockfish. I called to other places nearby and they warned me about Bunky's that they were crooks. Man, I should have listened! They said they don't want to spend the money to go out further and that's how they make their money. I went with Bunky's despite this warning because they had a bigger boat. Wow oh wow. After a short time, no rockfish as promised. I explained most wanted Rockfish, but we agreed reluctantly despite Brian's promises we would get rockfish. Then, we get stuck for over 2 hours in the hot sun because the anchor will go up. No communication about what is going on, just stuck. They offered to take us out later (not for rockfish, just spot) but it was already late in the day on a Sunday. When we got back, I asked to speak to the owner and told him we were disappointed. Before I could explain what happened, he literally turned his back to me and my friend and he walked away. I contacted him for a partial refund and it became an unprofessional yelling match. I tried my best to find a middle ground and work out something, but this guy is a complete jerk. This place is an absolute joke. We will be filing a formal complaint with the government. read more

I'm not usually one to write reviews. But I purchased a groupon a year ago for a charter fishing experience to troll for rockfish. Waste of money and time!!!! The captains were both so clearly inexperienced. We would troll for 10-15min and then move to another spot. That is NOT how you troll for rockfish. They weren't even enthusiastic or positive or entertaining. The boat was dead silent. They didn't communicate with any of the 10 people on the boat or bothered to ask us for input like most capts would if they were catching nothing. We also got caught in a crab pot at some point and it took forever to untangle. They had the passengers reeling in lines for them bc the mate couldn't do it all on his own.... Most of the ppl on the boat fell asleep most of the time. We ended up catching NOTHING. Everyone left disappointed and quite frustrated and angry. I would look elsewhere for a charter experience. Haven't tried their head boat experience yet. read more

The only reason we chartered with Bunky's is to catch Rockfish. This was our third trip with Bunky's. Last year's outing was good, we caught our limit and also caught other fish. This year on Bunky's recommendation, we decided to book his Sunday, 11 June trip (with 7 days' notice) instead of a trip in July. He stated people who chartered the first week in June caught their limits of Rockfish. This year we didn't see or catch any Rockfish. The only fish caught were Perch and Croakers for a grand total of 12 for the fishing party of 12 people. The most fish caught was Toad fish. We paid a lot (including a 20% "tip" in advance) for the charter. At about 3 hours into the 4-hour charter the captain anchored the boat and we dropped lines. Since nothing was biting, besides Toad fish, the captain decided to pull up the anchor and try another location. Much to everyone's surprise the anchor was stuck. The captain and first mate tried to dislodge it, but nothing would work. The captain radioed in to Bunky to discuss how to free up the anchor and he must have told him several methods to dislodge it. After 2 hours of not being successful, the captain finally decided to disconnect the anchor and tie a buoy (empty oil jug) to it for a diver to return the next day to retrieve. Instead of returning to the dock, the captain was told to meet another one of Bunky's boats and get their spare anchor. By then, it was almost 6 PM, on a Sunday. After meeting the other boat, for some reason someone decided not to get the anchor (more time was wasted trying to get both boats close to each other). The captain said to everyone, "we lost 2 hours trying to free-up the anchor, we'll add those on to your end time." Most decided to go back to the dock because if we stayed out for 2 more hours we wouldn't get back to the dock until 8:30, then it would take at least another hour to clean the fish, if we caught any! A few of us live 3 hours away, there's no way we could've gone back out fishing and gotten home at a decent time and make it to work the next day. The organizer of our charter wanted to discuss our issue with Bunky. He tried to tell him that we should at least get some type of consideration, not for the lack of Rock fish or any other edible fish, but for the missing 2 hours and tip. Bunky totally ignored his request. Since we were repeat customers, one would think he'd have the decency to provide consideration whether it's another discounted outing or partial refund. He didn't have the professionalism to do either. This is the last time we will use Bunky's Charters!!! read more
