Something happened when I moved out of a share house. I started turning into a version of my Dad being excited to visit Bunnings. I wasn't quite sure what was happening to me. But here's the thing: whether you're my Dad who, Bunnings if you're reading would be a top employee, or someone like me - a 20something setting up her first "real home", Bunnings is a saviour that takes a variety of shapes. Need plants for your garden? Check. Need a new mop head, bucket, laundry basket? Check. Need MDF board to be cut to a certain size and painted with chalk board paint to fit into a frame you've re-purposed from Salvo's? Yep, they can help you with that too. I'm endlessly surprised by the bits and bobs I find at Bunnings that have me feeling all Tara Dennis and actually successfully completing D.I.Y projects. My Dad would be proud. Pictured is a very small snippet of my garden, and while they weren't there to water, prune, de-pest or fertilize this garden is in large thanks to Bunnings Stafford. ...Yeah yeah I know Bunnings is evil and is killing independent and family owned hardware stores. BUT. they have stupefyingly huge stores and I'm a big sucker for cheap/wal mart-esque shopping experiences. The Stafford store is forever included in my to-do list and is really akin to a miniature city. The range in store is huge, I've found everything from petunias and outdoor sails to enviable cubby houses and caps with in built flashlights. Although I love coming in here (Mainly for the garden centre) this place is really ideal for Dads or drop-ins with man friends. (I have spent A LOT of hours been dragged to look at drill bits or other tiresome manly tools of the trade.) Sometimes Bunnings doesn't offer the lowest prices but with the opening of another evil competitor Masters (Owned by the MegaCorp Woolworths) there should hopefully be more bargains for us normal folks. read more

HUGE! That's how I would describe this Bunnings. I imagine they're all big, but to be honest, I can count on one hand the times I've been into one. I was on a mission to get some stuff, and this was the closest place I knew would have it. It took directions from two staff members to finally locate what I was looking for. If you like hardware type things, this is your place. I imagine you could just about build a house without buying products from anywhere else. read more

Bunnings Stafford looks huge from the outside, but it's like the TARDIS: much bigger on the inside. Coming here made me learn something about myself: my sanity limit inside a megastore is 20 minutes. Unfortunately the sheer size of a place like this, plus the distractions (the range is huge, almost satirically so) mean you probably can't make it out of here in under 20 minutes. And if you're stupid enough to visit on the weekend like I did, then you'll spend 20 minutes at the counter alone. I like the place smells like wood in and around the gardening section, but the lack of air conditioning means the whole store is unpleasantly hot in summer. The contained heat gets to be a bit much combined with the different body odours wafting about, and I felt myself longing for the outside gardening section even though I didn't want to buy anything from there. For some reason I expected Bunnings to be stocked with more furniture than it has, like a kind of Ikea. Of course it's essentially a D.I.Y. hardware superstore. I was more interested in electrical stuff when I last visited, and the prices were cheap across the board. I have no idea if the D.I.Y. materials would be considered cheap or expensive because I generally get someone more knowledgeable than myself to do repairs. I wasn't in the market for it, but the outdoor furniture here turned my head. They stock different types of wooden love seats (or swings) that look beautifully crafted, and I had a good swing on all of them. The staff were friendly but unhelpful. (That's not a grammatical error.) I asked a random passing employee if they stocked fans. At first cheerful, he looked at me like I was crazy and said, "No, not at the moment. It's summer, you see. People buy them in the winter." I considered whether he was messing with me, but the slow and deliberate way the words were uttered made me think he had special needs. Then I felt bad for being annoyed with him and confused by the whole situation. Ahh, incidents like these. read more

I had a horrible experience at the Albion Bunnings a few weeks ago so decided to try the Stafford one instead. I am so glad I did. They have a large garden area that carried the pebbles that I wanted so I was very happy. There was also a large selection of plants and other gardening supplies. One downside was that there wasn't that many garden ornaments such as gnomes etc. I wanted something a bit different for my garden but couldn't find anything that suited. read more

Bunnings has a huge selection of items. It's great to be able to choose from so many different types and brands. Always come out with more than what I went on for though as its so tempting to buy more stuff when you are there. Downside is that although the staff are very friendly there is just not enough of them. When you need to find someone to ask about something there is never anyone around. So if they had more floor staff I would have scored them higher but it's so annoying when there is not a sole around to ask information from. read more

I went to Bunnings Stafford Garden Center at approx. 1.00pm last Sunday & was struggling with a trolley containing 6 bags of mulch, two of soil, fertilizer etc when a gentleman employee offered to take the trolley to the checkout for me. After I paid, he was right beside me again, wheeling the trolley to my car, then packed my purchases into the boot. I asked for his name which he gave but unfortunately I have forgotten. If by looking up employees shift roster for that day (Sunday 1 February 2015) which would show this man's name I would appreciate he is given recognition by Bunnigs as he was heaven sent & did the job so graciously Many thanks, Shayle Andrews read more

Bunnings Victoria Point Qld. Read a review about the Ryobi 18V mower being fazed out in favour of the 36V one, and as I could not find a 4Ah battery in any Bunnings catalog (online) I freaked out. Raced down to Victoria Point I brought the first 18V mower from them about 2 years ago and love it. Charge up my two 4Ah batteries (18V + 18V = 36V). Mowed my nature strip, trimmed it with my 18V line trimmer and blew all my paths around the house and drive as well as lawn clipping with my 18V blower on that one charge. Perfect. Not only where they fazing out my mower they have removed all stock of 4Ah batteries to make way for the 5Ah battery at an unreasonable price may I add. Brought my 2 x 4Ah and 1 x 1.5 Ah batteries at the same time as my mower. I'm going to be up for a bloody fortune new mower about $399 2 x new batteries on special (cannot afford 2 x $139), $239. Wasn't worried about my just purchased Right Angle Drill, Hand Vac ( all ready own large electric Ryobi Vac)torch and Multi Tool all bought with my Bunnings Gift Cards for Christmas just 3days ago $305. and now this. The store was packed and the lady said she would definitely do something about it when the store quietens down a bit. I, heard that before from other employees of this store where they have a good reputation for being slack (downright lazy if you ask me) So I waited and until my heart couldn't take it anymore. Back to the store I went camera phone in hand this new mower and batteries had to be different to fit a 5Ah battery and I am going to show everyone how I was taken in by Bunnings and Ryobi. Well I could go on and and on but was I ever Wrong about not only the mower but the 5Ah batteries the guy who I spoke to (actually sold me that mower way back when didn't remember me though) assured me the mower was here to stay and that the 5Ah batteries and all new batteries in the future will comfortably fit my (wether 5 10 or whatever) Mower. Whats more a rep from Ryobi rang me and I told him it was all caused through 1 Review. Well I don't take it back about the lazy staff but I certainly take it back about the Bloke and the Women in the mower section for their help. read more
