I stumbled upon this great cafe a few steps from the Canterbury museum.
Located in the most beautiful setting, the old Canterbury College buildings. Now they have become the Arts Center, a collection of shops, boutiques, cafes, restaurants, galleries and theaters. Simply perfect. After a coffee break I spent a few hours discovering The Center.
Bunsen is appropriately named. It's located in an old laboratory, with a few great details scattered around. Cozy inside seating over two floors, and a fabulous outdoor patio in front. Drinks have some names reminiscent of the previous resident. And the turmeric latte was a delicious break from my site seeing.
Not just for coffee, Bunsen has a variety of New Zealand wines, beers and cider. It also has a brunch/lunch menu, daily specials and a take away case with lighter meals and sweet treats.
I wished I had more time for a bite and another cup. The chemistry person in my loved it. read more
