It's got quite a decent sized sit in restaurant including a mezzanine level which serves the same food you'll get taking away but presented nicer than I've ever seen in a traditional chippy. The take out is pretty speedy although expect to wait for fish. The chips themselves are really good and just how I like them. Well cooked, soft and not greasy at all. The fish was fresh, light and crispy and available in traditional batter and panko breadcrumbs but I went for batter. The battered sausage was one of the best I've had too, plenty of bite in it - some sausages can be a little limp... For a fish supper and sausage supper it only set me back £9.10 and that was a good meal for two people - they don't skimp on chips that's for sure! I can only go on the fish suppers as I have not tried anything else, maybe they just don't get fresh fish straight off the dock like the Hurrie or Viking do but the Haddock fish suppers here leave me cold. For those that remember the old fish and chippy in Giffnock "The Glen" it will always be sadly missed as it was the best fish and chippy in the southside but surprisingly shut down many years ago; the owner (a lovely lady too) actually now works in Asda at the Avenue on the tills. The service at the Catch also leaves a lot to be desired, they just seem to want to sell and take the cash with no real friendly customer service as such. The Glen always knew all of their regulars by name - hint, hint as that is part of what keeps customers coming back but it seems this is a forgotten skill as its all about the money and speed of service now it seems without any attention to making a good fry up either!

Catch is a really good chippy but the prices mean I really can't give it 5 stars. I mean, our dinner for two came to nearly £50. Ouch. We shared mac cheese balls and chicken pakora, both which were excellent. For main I went for the half lobster and it was really nice - delicious meat, a nice amount of garlic butter and the claw came cracked so I didn't have to worry about that. We got a side of potato fritters (which weirdly aren't on the menu, but they do have them) but they were underseasoned and bland until I loaded them up with salt and vinegar (the chips didn't have this problem). I'd definitely go back to Catch and would get a takeaway here, but I do think the prices are pretty steep for what is a casual fish shop dining experience. The prices are considerable cheaper if you're taking away (cod is £10.95 for eat in or £5.40 take away!) so we will do that next time. They also let us take our leftovers away with us so that was good. The staff are really friendly and nice.

In my previous review the chips I had bought didn't live up to my very high hopes. I'm now happy to say, after numerous visits, I have now had the chips of my dreams! I just loved Hooked and work tirelessly to spread the word around my friends and on Yelp! Everything I've had from here has been so great. The sweet potato chips are incredible. The mac and cheese balls are absolutely massive and so tasty!! The brie wedges are perfect! On my last visit I brought along some non-veggie friends and they loved everything they got - including the biggest serving of fish you've ever seen in your life!! I'm super happy I can update my review to a 5 star, Hooked really is the best chippy in Glasgow!

I ordered the same thing as last time - special fish supper and potato fritters. Delivery was quick and the estimated time was pretty accurate again which is always appreciated when you're hungry! The food is pretty good but their potato fritters are cut too thick so they taste pretty stodgy, hence the loss of a star. It's not a deal breaker but I do really love fritters, so out of a batch of 6 only 2 were really decent. I'd still order from here in the future as the price is reasonable and I think the fish is really good, but I'm not sure I'd bother with the fritters.

However don't let that put you off. They do some decently priced lunchtime deals which include a can of Barr's fizzy pop (there are several varieties to choose from) and all of their main meals are reasonably priced too, although certainly not cheap. The food itself is really good, most of the stuff including the fish is cooked fresh to order, so it's not the best place to visit if you really are in a hurry - but the freshly cooked food does mean that the fish is really lovely and the chips are nice and not too greasy either. It's definitely the best chippy I've visited in East Kilbride so far. Yes they do charge for heinz sauce pockets and it is expensive, but you can get the standard chippy red sauce for free! and the brown sauce too!

This was on a Tuesday so it was the BOGOF offer. I also ordered a child's fish nugget meal with black currant fruit shoot. This should have came to £11.94 altogether. On picking up the order my husband told me it came to £13.45. I then opened the order and thought my daughters fish nuggets were more like fish cakes as there was no fish inside, inside it what looked like mashed potato in breadcrumbs. They were tasteless and disgusting. The chips were also very greasy leaving the whole meal inedible. We also received an orange fruit shoot instead of black currant (this isn't a big deal but specifically asked for black currant) The tacos were ok however very small portions for the price paid. I really don't like putting on bad reviews as I know how it can affect small businesses so I chose to call them to let them know. I spoke to a female member of staff and asked about the price. She stated that my fish taco was actually £8 and not £6.95 even though it said £6.95 on their own website menu. She apologised for this but didn't not offer a refund at any point as this was their mistake, she just said i5 was getting changed soon (that doesn't help me) so I then mentioned the fish nuggets and how they had no taste of fish at all and were absolutely horrible and my child wouldn't eat them and how the chips were very greasy. This member of staff then to me "IF YOU DONT LIKE IT THEN DONT COME BACK" and "I BET YOU ARE ON OUR LIST OF PEOPLE WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT EVERYTHING" and "YOURE JUST COMPLAINING ABOUT ONE THING AFTER ANOTHER" I couldn't believe what I was hearing as I had been nothing but polite to her. I then asked if she was the manager and she said no. I was even more gobsmacked that a manager would allow their staff to speak to customers in that way.
