Worth stopping in if you're in San Gimignano. Grab some and enjoy by the well in the center of the piazza.

The train tickets were quite expensive (about 100 euro for one person), so decided to rent a car and drive there. After a while, we started looking for someplace to get coffee and I found in yelp this beautiful place was ahead of us in just a couple of miles. It's a very quiet and small Italian city where you will not find any tourists. Narrow streets, with a stunning view to Toscana. We liked this place so much, so I even offered my girlfriend to stay here. Caffe Venezia is a small cafeteria where you will find anything you want. Here you can have your breakfast, brunch, or lunch and the prices are three times cheaper then in Roma or any other big cities. The owner was a very polite and nice guy.

I got a cup with both pistachio and chocolate hazelnut. The pistachio was one of the better pistachios we had in Italy with a strong buttery pistachio flavor. I get this flavor as a benchmark whenever I get gelato, and they passed with flying colors. The chocolate hazelnut was also great. It seems like they do a lot of crepes and Nutella-themed dessert options, and I would love to come back to try those.

More of a controlled line would have been nice but they were working hard which is always appreciated. Drinks (N/A): Like most gelaterias, they have various soft drinks and water. I didn't order anything. Food (3.5/5): As usual, I went with the medium which allows you to select two flavors. I tend to go with a fruity flavor and a creamy flavor. The selection here is nice and consistent with the hundreds and hundreds of gelaterias that are spread out throughout Italy. Overall: Located in the heart of Siena, La Vecchia Latteria is one of the best and one of the oldest gelaterias in town. It makes for a good spot for a refreshing dessert on-the-go.
