My first time to this Buona Beef and my first time back to any Buona in like 15 years. Brand new facility, clean, nice service, spacious. That should be an awesome start right? Actually no! I have had a thousand beefs at places all over Chicagoland and I want my beef from a hole-in-the-wall type place. Italian Beef is fast food, street food, cheap food and is served up best in small cheap joints where the focus is on the food and nothing else. Brand spanking new, spacious corporate type places do not hardly ever make simple cheap food well. So my expectations were not very high for them. As a disclaimer this review focuses more on the Beef sandwich of the Buona brand not so much on this location of Buona It only took a few bites to prove my point. The bun to beef ratio favored the bun, maybe rename the place Buona Buns? Has a cool ring to it eh? My sandwich was just not wet enough, apparently I should have asked for it "baptized" instead of dipped. I'm not sure what's up with the out of nowhere vernacular but it should be dropped. You either get it dry for the few who like it like that way or dip the whole thing. Again corporate trying to get fancy for something that is simple. Also where was the flavor? I tasted some oregano but overall lacking in flavor. I looked all over but couldn't find it. Buona looks to be the corporate poster child for Beefs gone wrong. Now I get it, as Chicago is the birthplace of the Italian Beef so the standards are very high. Buona Beef however brought a knife to a gunfight. I'm sorry but shiny brand new corporate restaurants do not serve beefs well. Portillo's is the same way, their beefs are average at best. 2 stars to the beef and I will give half a star for good service. 2.5 stars. read more

FANTASTIC PESTO PASTA I'm so excited for Buona Beef, as they open their 26th location in Mount Prospect. The Buona Family is known for delivering amazing Chicago Style Beef Sandwiches and this new restaurant did not let me down. The taste and consistency of the sandwich is always number one. I was really excited to try their new pasta dishes. This location is actually only one of four locations that is currently testing out the new pasta. There are four pasta dishes to choose from: Rigatoni Marinara, Fettuccine Alfredo, Tortelloni Pesto Cream and Jumbo Cheese Ravioli Marinara. I had such a hard time choosing because the photos, near the front counter, looked amazing. I ultimately choose the most creative dish plus I thought it would photograph really well too. Hey I'm about to eat a dish that not many people have ever had before. It's kind of like stepping on the Moon for the first time. This was a big deal for me as a pasta lover. When my Tortelloni Pesto Cream arrived, it looked amazing, I couldn't wait to dive in, after a few photos. The flavors of the pesto cream sauce were amazing and it blanketed the Tortelloni perfectly. I was so happy with my selection and I'd totally get this dish again. If you have an opportunity to try the new pasta dishes, then I highly recommend it. I think next time I'm going to try the giant cheese ravioli. It's winter and there's nothing like some comfort food in the form of pasta. The best part is that all of the pasta is homemade and cooked fresh to order. I typically don't order pasta when I go out but I'd do it again here. I needed a side dish to go along with my pasta, so I got a Baptized Buona Beef with mozzarella and hot giardinera. Buona makes an amazing beef sandwich. I can never go wrong with one of these deliciously dunked beauties. I must also admit the hot peppers went really nice with the pesto cream sauce. It was kind of like how Reese's Peanut butter cups got invented. Some of my giardinera actually fell into my pasta plate. Next time I'm going secret menu and asking them to add peppers in there. Yeah I'm making my own secret menu. The spiciness and the cream really came alive in my mouth. My wife loves the salads at Buona and she got the Beet and Quinoa salad. She also added a piece of grilled salmon on the top. I love that we can go out to eat and we can both get what we want. The salads here are a great option, if you're looking to dine on the healthier side of life. My wife also got the seasonal peppermint shake. She loves this and it's always a treat this time of year. Yeah she's on Santa's nice list. The new location has a double drive through, which is great, when you are in a hurry. They serve wine and beer because there's nothing like enjoying an icy cold one, when eating a spicy beef. They even have a grab and go counter, where you can pick up the ingredients and make your own sandwiches at home. I love this option because it saves me from having to go to the grocery store to stock up on my Buona. Congrats again on your new location. The food and service was amazing. I love that no matter where I drive in Chicagoland I can always find the comfort of a Buona Beef location nearby. read more

I'd give higher based on their plant based beef. Problem it with their loyalty program which not only makes me but to be loyal but to avoid. You need to spend 250 for an 8 buck beef. That's bad enough, they give you equivalent of 150 for signing up but have a very short expectation date. I emailed, when I explained my concern was never given courtesy reply. In my opinion I'd avoid this option in a very competitive fast food segment. read more

Good thing the FOOD is good, 'cause the service stinks. I waited 5 minutes for a worker to even acknowledge me when I walked in last night. Then tried the electronic ordering thing and it would not create my order the way I wished. Still had to wait another 5 minutes when more people came in before someone would take any orders - and she answered TWO phone calls BEFORE assisting the people standing in front of her. Don't DO that. It is rude. Bad, bad, BAD service. Not sure the app works, but I will try it once, as I definitely never walk into this location again. read more

Avoid the drive thru! Ordered a beef sandwich and cheeseburger through the drive thru. Got home and was disappointed to see the burger was missing the cheese and the beef was on bread that was as hard as a rock. I've ordered catering and have eaten inside this Buona in the past and it was good. Obviously during the pandemic quality is on the decline. read more

Ordered curbside via their app. It took them 30 minutes to get my food to my curbside spot. The location was not even busy. The kid employee was terribly rude when my wife asked what the hold up was he made some derogatory comments and walked off. read more

I have always loved Buona but somethings changed . The menu now only offers regular and large beefs . Packaging has changed fries were different . Disappointing for sure . I'll probably try again but I'm leery it was always very consistent :/ read more

The young man who took our order was unable to answer our questions about a sandwich that is on the menu at other locations. Never offered to check with manager or other staff. Line was forming behind us. We got pasta and meatballs. Food was barely warm. Had to reheat them which tells you neither are fresh made. Saw another customer getting his daughter's pasta reheated, too. Nice slice of Italian bread came with the meal. Asked for butter and got margarine. For the cost, it was too much money for lukewarm, premade food. The one positive was the young woman who took our food back to reheat was pleasant. One star for the food and one star for the nice young lady who helped us. read more

This location is new. I think they are still working out some kinks. We went through the drive through. The order came out fairly quickly but one entree was made incorrectly. We returned it and the manager was very gracious and offered to replace it. We just got a refund for it. I think they will do fine when they work out the quality issues and kinks. My wife and I always like to come to Buona but not sure why. The beef sandwich is more often than not more bread than beef. Always dry even though I request it be dipped and service at this location is very slow. Going forward we may come here for a pizza but never again for a beef. For a beef check out Portillos or Johnnys. Not sure if Buona was sold but it's not the same. read more

Quick service - but I did not get what I ordered. I originally wanted a beef on a croissant, but apparently either they were out of them or no longer serve that. Then I asked for a cheesy beef with mozzarella - the order taker confirmed mozzarella - but I got cheddar. $9.20 which I thought was high for a small sandwich. Used to be one of my favorite lunches - I don't know if I will go back again. read more

I went to Bueno Beef today. I have eaten at the Berwyn location many times. Ordered the beef sausage combo. I think this is the first time I ever had one of their sandwiches sitting . Hired Buona Beef in Mt Prospect for a catering event. They were 15 minutes late so we called them to find out where the food was. My wife was on hold for 8 minutes. She finally hung up. I called and was lucky enough to get through to them. They seemed confused. After losing my temper we finally got our food. 40 MINUTES LATE. I will never use them for catering again. read more

Was so excited they open so close to us, I love Italian beef sandwiches. Went there the day after they opened (Dec 5, lunch). 7" baptized beef, hot peppers and a drink. Atmosphere, staff and service was phenomenal. My meal not so much. The amount of beef compared to the bread was lacking, the bread surprised me the most, it was dry and stale even after being baptized. A week later (Dec 12, dinner). We thought We would give them another try, 7" beef w fries and full slab ribs with side salad. Much, much better food experience. Sandwich was filled with beef, bread was fresh and fully baptized in the delicious gravy. The ribs looked outstanding, large portion, nice dry rub bark across the top. Decent smoky flavor and a decent sweet and tangy BBQ sauce on the side (kinda reminded me of the Jack Daniels BBQ sauce). My two biggest gripes of the rib meat are is that its over cooked and doesn't really have any pork flavor and the meat is on the mushy side (fall off the bone type). Was nearby at 1:30 and hadn't had lunch and had been wanting to try so stopped in. It is a little difficult to spot since there are a lot of businesses on Rand. You can turn in at the new light by the Tile Shop. The light is useful if you want to go north on Rand afterwards as there's no way you'd be able to turn left out of the lot. Texas Road House is next door and when that gets full I can see a real problem with traffic in and out both lots. I love Italian beef but was in the mood for a hamburger. Went to the drive-thru with 2 people ahead of me. The speaker your order from seems poor as it was hard for both myself and order taker to hear each other. The wait was rather long considering the time of day and only 2 customers but acceptable. I wouldn't want to go at the peak of the lunch hour however. My hamburger was very good -- they use a brioche bun, which also made it a notch above. The burger had a good char flavor and was plenty big. Now that I know exactly where it it, best time to go, and easiest way in and out, I can't wait to try their Italian beef. Oh, they give better quality thick soft napkins -- 3 in my bag. That rates high in my book. I'm so happy to find another alternative to Portillo's, which has really slipped after having been bought by a hedge fund. read more

Just wanted to give a shout out to this Buona Beef, first off the food was very good, but the customer service was outstanding. The internet was not available, so the manager provided drinks while we were waiting, after a short time it did not appear the internet was going to return, so he provided lunch to all of us for free! What a great gesture... especially since we were teachers and would not have time enough to go to another restaurant. Thanks for taking care of your customers. We all will be back!!! read more

We've been to the Buona in Mt Prospect twice. The first time, they gave my daughter the wrong salad. The second time, they completely botched out takeout (online) order, shorting us of all three orders of fries and a milkshake. I called, and they took my email address, and then did absolutely nothing. We won't give them a third try. read more

As me and my family went to Bouna, the employees were friendly and they take pride in getting someone's food to come out good and made sure their customers are satisfied. Also, they bring your food to your table, the food looks quite applying but I felt that the italian beef wasn't the best I've ever tasted. I believe it needed more salt and all and I felt that it was too spicy instead of how it tasted. But overall the employees were genuinely caring and the service was tremendous. read more
