So happy this place is finally open! We live very close to Meriam Park and have been waiting (not so patiently lol) for new restaurants. I believe they opened to the public last Wednesday and we went in on a Friday night. We walked in just after 5 and we were seated right away. They did fill up and they had many reservations. It is beautiful inside! I love the open concept and the bar is gorgeous. We started with two delicious cocktails, an old fashioned and a lemon thyme gin drink. We had the shrimp appetizer which was delicious and very fresh tasting. For entrees, I ordered the AMAZING short rib tacos (soooo good) and my boyfriend got the meat patty something. Both great, but the tacos were the highlight of the night for sure. Excited to try more menu items and so happy this place is finally open. This new restaurant is exactly what Chico needs. It's got a cool urban vibe and is bright and inviting. The service was impeccable -- from the hostess, to the waitress, to who appeared to be the on-duty manager. Food was simply divine. We had the eggplant parmesan and the clam chowder. Delicious food! Best Brussels sprouts I've ever had! Pork chops were delicious and it was a huge portion.

We stopped in for a drink and a snack, which was perfect. Love the location, which is not yet overrun by the college crowd. The ham and cheese tasting plate was great. We'll be back for more drinks and snacks soon. read more

Tried this restaurant let night and was a little disappointed. Ambiance was nice and the food presentation was great. However, the food was just not tasty. I ordered the salmon and it tasted really bland. The risotto on the side had a lot of tomatoes and they overpowered the dish making it taste too acidic. I did try the bruschetta which was actually pretty good but expensive for what you get. Overall not real satisfied. The bill was almost $70 for two people and I really expect more for that price range. read more

Wow! So very pleased with the new ownership. Everything on the menu was fabulous and the staff was extremely kind and helpful. Everything I got I would happily order again and the entire table was moaning as we enjoyed the meal. The caesar salad, burger, steak, brussel sprouts, and more were all an 11/10. However, you MUST GET the butter cake! I rarely order desserts at restaurants and I'm so thankful we got this. Looking forward to going back soon. Don't sleep on Burban Kitchen. read more

What an amazing dinner! My group went to dinner at burban kitchen tonight and we had an amazing meal with great service. I have a large amount of food allergies that can make ordering out difficult but this kitchen took on a difficult order with such grace. I had a delicious meal that worked with all of my allergies that was specially prepared by the Chef himself because he didn't want another place where I ate just a salad and man, it was a tasty plate. We checked out Burban Kitchen with some friends of ours tonight. We felt comfortable and excited right away in the clean and contemporary atmosphere. Staff was friendly, prompt, attentive. Menu was varied with meat and veg options. Kids menu a plus as we had 3 with us. Loved the creative cocktails, especially Spicy Buddha. Overall great dining experience and perfectly concluded with delicious cheesecake and the best bread pudding any of us had tasted. Will definitely be back to try other menu options. We live right across the street, and have been wanting to try Burban for a while, it always looks busy so we've been waiting for a best time :) We ended up inviting friends from Redding to go with us. We called ahead for reservations, and they were booked, however they said we could drop in anytime, there may just be a wait. My review comes from a place of living in New York and Los Angeles for the past 15 years, and have literally tried everything lol. I base reviews off Atmosphere/Service and then Food :) I will try to attach pics from my phone soon. Firstly we walked in and were seated right away, which was not expected, very nice! Next we ordered a bottle of champagne and appetizers etc... Maggie was our server and hands down she gave the best customer service in the world, if I was the owner of this establishment I would have Maggie serving all my VIP's, My friends from Redding own a photography studio and are always extra and over the top when we go anywhere, Maggie was Stellar when it came to overly helping my over the top friends. So if you want an amazing experience, ask for Maggies section, or to be served by her. Lastly the food was simply amazing, my Boyfriend and I have recently became vegetarian and they had the best farm to table I have had since New York. 10/10 Recommend!! read more

When you enter this place, you are greeted with warmth and kind faces. This place feels like an upscale restaurant in a big city, but with Chico pricing. We didn't try the food this go around, but had a few drinks and took in the atmosphere. I plan on coming back very soon to try what looked like the best chicken soup ever. I saw bone broth on the menu too (both accompanied with an egg atop). The menu has many tasty options. Can't wait to try for lunch & dinner! read more

Off to a rocky start. The staff was nice and was experienced. The problem is the menu. Not very well thought out. I didn't see any real evidence that Ann Leon had anything to do with designing the offerings. The short rib tacos were OK but were basically meat on a tortilla with nothing else. The shrimp added to the salad (which make it a $17.00 salad) were awful. Chico lost a wonderful restaurant and gained a poor one. I will wait a month or two and try it again. If that future visit was like this one I won't be back. read more

My wife and I just went here about two weeks after they opened. We arrived at 6 and there was a 45 minute wait, which is fine. We're from bigger cities where good restaurants always have waits, so all good! We had the meat provision appetizer which was pretty good. I had the short rib tacos. This, I believe is one of their signature items. It was very rich and flavorful, very unique and something you won't find anywhere else. So two thumbs up for that. I just gave up drinking about six weeks ago so I can't comment on the drinks, but the bar scene looked great. It was an extremely busy Saturday night two weeks after opening, so the service was kind of rushed and the space was a bit over crowded. Also, there is no place to wait outside, no benches or anything so basically we were just standing on the concrete outside for 45 minutes because the bar was so crowded there was no seat and many standing around the area. Luckily we ran into some great friends and talked for about 30 minutes outside which made waiting a whole lot more enjoyable. Overall, it seems like a great restaurant with many unique and rich plates to choose from. read more

My second visit to Burban Kitchen was for lunch. I ordered the Caesar salad with chicken added. The salad was as good as any in Chico. The chicken breast however was small, cold, dry and overcooked. We split the calamari which was very good and generous in portion. Tarter sauce was served with it. Cocktail suace would have been preferred but was not offered. I'm thinking there are still growing pains but it's a nice option to have in our growing restaurant scene. read more

Had a chance to finally try this last night. I was always a fan of Leon Bistro so naturally I thought I would be of Burban Kitchen! It surpassed my expectations and may be one of my new favorites! The service was beyond outstanding, And the food, drink and atmosphere did not disappoint. The menu is so diverse and the layout of this restaurant was fun in the fact you can sit at a table or better yet, at the bar and watch everything going down in the kitchen. They had everything dialed in for being relatively new still and I was impressed! We had the Eggplant Parm and Braised Short Rib Tacos bit I cannot wait to order form that menu again! My wife and I ordered take out a short while ago because of COVID. Her tacos were great. My curry chicken was overcooked and tough. Having taken the meal all the way home, I decided not to take it back. I wrote them a letter explaining my concerns and was surprised when they did not respond. Love the Spicy Buddha drink, the meatballs, the open-faced meat patty, and the tender luscious chicken. It is also a wonderful experience watching Ann Leon and her crew do their magic in the kitchen, along with their wonderful manager Marianne and the wait staff, who solidify a top-notch experience. The building and decor are also a work of art. This is an will continue to be one of my favorite dining/cocktail experiences. read more

My wife and I tried this restaurant for the first time today. Just stopped in for a cocktail and a snack. Absolutely wonderful. We were greeted promptly by the bartender, Corina. She was knowledgeable and attentive throughout our visit. We indulged in a few of the small plates. Each of them was beautifully presented which only foretold how well they were prepared and how delicious they would be. Fresh ingredients combined to elicit unique tantalizing flavors. They also have an excellent selection of good bourbons. That is always a plus. I can't wait to get back and try some of the large plates. read more

Great food, ambiance was good. We had pork chops, and short rib tacos, with a shared Caeser salad for dinner on a Wednesday evening. Excellent dinner! Couldn't have been happier for the meal. Cocktails starters were very good too. Love the clear ice cubes in the cocktails - a nice classy touch. Noise level was a bit high, but much more likable than our last dinner here on a Saturday evening - that was a very loud time. I hope they look at Meyersound.com for some noise control possibilities. What a disappointment! After hearing all the hype from everyone the last few months, and LOVING Leon's, we decided to give B'urban Kitchen a try last night for my husbands birthday. I honestly don't know what the heck happened but everything that could go wrong, went wrong. I've never had such terrible service in a restaurant here before, and it was probably the most disappointing feeling, after being so excited. First off, I definitely would suggest some sort of sound proofing happening in that new building--we couldn't hear each other at all sitting at the table. Don't go there if you're planning on having an intimate conversation. Second, my best friends husband just had surgery and is using a knee scooter to get around for a few months, and he could barely make it through the tables. Too many chairs and very tight spaces--could see this being an issue for fire safety. It would have been nice to have been given a table not in the back in consideration not only for us and accessibility issues, but also for all the poor people who had to get up and move chairs to let him by. We ordered two of the small plates, and ended up only getting one. We asked about the second three times, and it never came. What was strange is the one that never came was the liver pate, which didn't need to be cooked! So logically, should have been the easiest to bring out. We ended up cancelling it, because it still hadn't come by the time we were halfway through the main plates. We were all given incorrect cocktails (somehow they played musical cocktails with our table, and all three of us who ordered got the wrong one). When we asked our server about it, she made an incredibly rude remark about "us not getting them for free" even though, NONE of us even dared breathe that word to her, and had merely asked if they could remake them so we didn't share germs. We then got the Brussel sprouts side we ordered--a full five minutes before any of the main plates---so the timing just started getting worse. Only one of us got our main plate, and it was COLD. I was almost afraid to eat it, it was so cold. Everyone finally also go their main plates, which were also cold. Still no remade cocktails. We all start eating, and thank goodness, the redeeming taste of the meals was excellent! I was EVEN MORE disappointed, because the food was delicious, and I'm sure would have been so much better had it come to us hot! On top of it being cold, I ended up making a very interesting discovery of tiny shrimp in my salad (which weren't listed as part of the menu item). I asked the others that got the same plate, and they didn't have any in their salad. Obviously I'm fine because I'm not allergic to shellfish, but I'd like to point out to the management that had I been allergic and made the order on the assumption that your menu was true with it's ingredients listed, this could have been a grave mistake on your part, and could have killed someone. We finally got our remade cocktails and the server ended up dumping a good third of mine down my husbands sleeve, and into my lap. Pretty sad for such an expensive drink. No apology from the server. We all ate so fast to try and get out of there at this point, and turned down the dessert menu and additional cocktails just to get the check, and the server never even bothered to ask if we wanted it split, and instead, brought a single bill, and handed it to the birthday boy. (needless to say nothing was said or done about it being his birthday, but whatever at this point.) We asked her about splitting the check, and she looked like she would vomit from pure terror of having to figure that out and made some additionally rude comments, so we chose to just try and sort it out between us. We ended up making some crazy configuration to get the bill covered. All of us just wanted out of there as quickly as possible, and didn't want to give any more opportunity for things to happen. None of us who went enjoyed ourselves, and we ended up with a bad memory for what should have been a good celebration. The only reason why I give it two stars, is the taste of the food was exceptional. Unfortunately the service was some of the worst I've had, which made a top dollar restaurant feel worse than some of the best dive bar pubs I've been in. It definitely felt like none of the servers/bus people knew what the heck was happening. It definitely made us feel as if it was not worth the money, when I can get cheaper cocktails, and better service somewhere else in town. Terribly sad I even had to write this. read more

I feel like this place could be Great but it's tiny, busy and no where to go. There's nowhere to wait and there's usually always quite a long wait. They don't allow reservations for parties under eight so it's first come first serve which usually means a 45 minute wait for a table. It's packed with other people waiting either at the bar or in hallways or right next to tables where people are eating. The food was pretty good but heavy. If you like a lot of caramelization and richness this is the place to go. Chef Leon definitely changed up her style coming to this place. Much different than what was at Café Leon's. The waiting staff was on their game. Fast and very good service. If not for the cramped feeling I'd give this an higher review but that packed like a sardine feeling kinda kills the vibe regardless if you're the one waiting or the one at a table with someone standing right next to you while you're trying to eat. read more
