I came to see Dr. Kase for a FOURTH opinion on an potential foot surgery, for a condition that has been developing over the last ten years. One podiatrist said he could do the surgery, and I could walk out that same day. Another backed off, saying it was major surgery, which though he could do, had some risks, and that I should just continue with insoles. The last one said, yes, it was a risky surgery, but he could do it -- all from six feet across the room, and looking at my foot and x-rays. Dr. Kase gave me the most thorough examination I have ever had, manipulating both feet (after x-rays) and citing his observations to an assistant, who input all the data into my file. He asked me about my level of pain, and checked both feet for neuropathy, and then observed me walk to and from him. Then we looked at the x-rays and he showed me where the major issues were, and how they would complicate recovering from the surgery in question. His final opinion was the procedure was not worth the risk, considering I was not in much pain. As we talked, he made sure I understood everything, and answered all my questions thoroughly. Together we came up with a plan. I cannot tell you how much better I felt, knowing exactly what was going on in my body, and all options. I was delighted, when I checked into my "patient portal" to see all the information he provided, there in print, for me to refer to anytime I feel the need. I highly recommend Dr. Kase to anyone, with foot issues, and considering surgery, which he is clearly capable of doing, but will only do if absolutely needed. That's the kind of podiatrist we need more of. read more

I had an infected toenail removed at this practice years ago. The doctor completely damaged the nail bed and matrix. She was extremely confident and assured me all would be fine , but six years later nothing has regrown. I wish a more thorough examination had taken place to identify the root cause of the issue. Now, all I can say and what most doctors have told me is that the procedure created the nail bed trauma. read more

Deceptive Billing Practices after receiving very poor service. (See service review dated 3/25/2021). My opinion is that you should not use this Podiatry Group, there are plenty of others in Burbank, save yourself the headache. My son paid what he was told was a $35.00 Co-Pay at the time of service on 3-15-2021 and asked for a receipt. Received a bill for $115.58 which matched up with what our health insurance said the total visit should cost, but the bill did not reflect the $35.00 Payment. Deducted $35 & mailed payment of $80.58, the outstanding balance, along with providing copies of the payment provided at time of service. Received $35.00 "Over Due" statement in the mail. Once again, provided copies of receipts & cancelled checks totaling the total amount due & mailed copies to BOTH the billing service & directly to the Burbank Podiatry Office Manager "Beverly", asking for the issue to be resolved and to provide a "Paid in Full" statement. Never heard anything from the office for months, until my son started receiving texts from a collection agency. Visited Burbank Podiatry in person on 10-5-2021 and spoke to "Paul" or "Raul", the self proclaimed X-Ray Tech who was filling in at the front desk. Explained the issue, provided him with copies of the receipts showing payment in full. He asked us to take a seat while he called someone in billing. He called & spoke to someone on the phone, which I could hear him say, "But he gave me a copy of the receipt", and then hung up. He then called us back to the window, an said that there is no one at the location that can help us & that we would have to call the main number and ask for someone in billing, preferably "Taylor" that he was talking to. Called the main number on 10-6-2021 & explained the issue to "Taylor" and that we have receipts showing that the bill was paid in full. After some time, she stated that the $35 that we were originally told was for the copayment, was actually the cost of the "Over the counter Care Kit" that was given to my son, that was a 1/2 full bottle of antiseptic spray & some gauze..... My son was never advised that there was a charge for this "Care kit", nor was he, my wife, or other son, that had the same procedures here previously, EVER charged for. I complained that all this could have been avoided IF the office had ever responded when I provided, on multiple occasions, copies of the bills and receipts. Its not like I didn't provide them with our contact information OR the fact that they already had our home phone # and my son's cell phone # on file.... Taylor responded that this is the first she is hearing of this issue and that the office never forwarded any correspondence to her from us regarding this issue...... Funny, I heard the X-Ray Tech talk to her directly the previous day......Hmmm. Again, just my opinion, but save yourself the future hassle and use a different Podiatry Group... read more

8/30/2017 Saw Dr. Franklin Kase today for a problem with my foot. I was truly impressed by the high level of professionalism and friendliness that the entire staff showed towards me. I'm so happy to have followed other Yelp reviews and chosen this facility. I already made an appointment for my husband too! Large comfortable waiting area. Fast process checking in. I time appointments. Xray tech professional and kind. Front desk (David) was helpful the day before to get all my paperwork in order. Billing was simply. Medical aid was kind and detail orientated. Dr Kase himself was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He listened and answered all my questions in a magnet I could understand. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. They have a small amount off recommended shoes and sandals available for sale in the office. Parking could be a little better but much easier than other doctor offices near the hospital. This office is extremely unprofessional and rude! I went there because a friend recommended Dr. Wang. My doctor wrote me a referral to see Dr Kase since they work together. My appointment was set for Wednesday 12 noon. I got there 10 minutes early because I knew I'd have to fill out some forms, which I did. They took me in for X-Rays around 12:10 it took 10 minutes. then they put me in a room to see the doctor. I waited util 1:01 PM and left with out seeing the doctor Kase. Maybe it's because I was a new patent? Or the doctor was eating lunch? Either way it is extremely unprofessional and rude to make a patient wait over 1 hour from appointment time. My advice DO NOT SEE THESE DOCTORS they are very rude and unprofessional people! I have told my doctor to not recommend these doctors to anyone. read more

Although it's a busy office and there is often a wait to see the doctors, once the doctor arrives, he takes his time and is very thorough. I've been a patient of Dr. Kase's since I was in middle school. He's helped me through numerous foot and ankle injuries, and even performed my mom's bunion surgery years ago. I always appreciate his bedside manner and friendly demeanor. For my most recent ailment (tendonitis), he sent me home with a topical CBD ointment that has truly been a godsend for inflammation and pain relief. In this day and age, I appreciate a doctor who offers the newest CBD treatment, rather than painkillers, for mild to moderate cases such as mine. The only downside is that wait times can be long. If the office offered WiFi for patients, I think the waiting experience would be a lot easier. read more

The WORST Doctors office ever. My son went in to see Dr Kase for ingrown toenail, they kept him waiting in room over and hour just to see doctor. Then Dr reviewed decided what to do and left room for another hour until finally returning and taking care of toe. My son made a follow up appt which they called day before and rescheduled. They sent text confirming this appt and when he went was told that the Dr left and the staff couldn't help because they didn't work for him. They never called to tell my son to reschedule. My son left work early for appt due to the office having not patient friendly hours. So now weeks have passed, hopefully there is no infection and he has no appt. I would not go to this office ever. The wait time - as other reviewers state - is the most disrespectful affront to patients. Sometimes a visit with a doctor is so stellar that it somewhat makes up for the egregious delay in being seen. This is not true of my experience with both Dr. Kase and Dr. Wang. Both doctors had in their minds what my problem was before even doing their tests. As example, Wang was convinced I had gout. I challenged him to aspire the synovial fluid (which was met with a "really, you want me to do that"). When the labs came back negative for gout (as I knew it would), I asked what else the biopsy showed but he couldn't answer that because he didn't biopsy it beyond checking for gout. The only thing he offered was to come back for a follow-up visit. My experience with Dr. Kase was not much better. The parking lot is always filled and the street parking is difficult. Not the best thing when you are dealing with feet issues. I'm glad other people have had positive experiences, but I will be looking for another podiatrist. read more

DO NOT GO THIS OFFICE. It's a shame what has happened to these doctors. There has been much criminality of the staff over the years, stealing SS numbers , driver's licenses, ID, etc. They've had to clean out the office staff and start with new people several times but GED staffers come up with new schemes. Now it's where they steal the co-pays the doctors will never see. A management company was outsourced from out of state which makes things worse and worse by the day. So you can imagine it's very unprofessional and you get nothing but substandard care. DO NOT GO THERE. read more

Dr. Kase suggested that I have the left big toenail removed, as well as the nail on the middle toe because they were badly ingrown. The big toe had been previously operated on but the nailbed had been disrupted so the nail itself was unstable. He told me the operation would be simple and that I would be able to wear normal shoes within a week or so and that I would only need to apply a band-aid. He also told me that it was very common to just have a nail salon attach a fake nail afterwards, after the wound had completely healed and was smooth. I don't know why I believed him--it was too good to be true. The office itself is really dirty. The operation was performed on an uncomfortable couch-thing shoved up against a wall in an examining room filled with students who wandered in and out. There was a lot of bleeding, and I could feel the pulling on my foot, and it made me feel kind of nauseous. When I asked for a glass of water, one of the students looked at my face like he'd forgotten I was there but did bring water. While I was still bleeding, Dr. Kase disappeared. Apparently nobody told the students that to stop bleeding, you're supposed to elevate the bleeding part because that never happened. Anyway, finally, somebody told me that the bleeding had stopped and I could go home. They put some kind of dressing on it and a blue paper shoe and I hobbled out to navigate my way home on the #5, in the dark, driving my 5-speed Miata, with no discharge instructions given. I was scared to death. The bleeding started again but somehow I made it home. I don't mean to sound like a whiner but I need more TLC than that. Nobody from the office called to check on me. Not knowing how to bandage the toes, I did the best I could, but my foot got infected, and that led to a trip to Urgent Care for antibiotics and another trip to my primary care doctor for more antibiotics, since the infection didn't clear with the first round. He wasn't sure how to bandage that mess either. It was a very painful mistake, and the reason I didn't go back was because I couldn't bring myself to see that dirty place again. The office staff aren't nice either. And, on top of everything else, no nail salon really attaches fake nails. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

My Review is inspired not by Dr. Wang or Kase, as I did not get that far into my appointment. The issue I have with this office is the cleanliness. I sat down in the X-ray room / Utility closet? and started to look around, with in seconds I knew I did not want anyone who can't keep a room clean, working on and potentially operating on my body! The person checking me in was nice enough but looked like they grabbed yesterdays scrubs out of the hamper and thew them on. The walls, the floor, the instruments all dirty. I had a chronic foot condition that had been developing for decades: the result of an injury that wasn't properly addressed. About 5 years ago it got worse. I went to an orthopedist -- surgery was done. There was some improvement, but after 2 years, it was back to where it was. The orthopedist said there was nothing more that could be done. So, I figured that was it and a few more years went by. During my annual physical I pointed out my foot problem, the attending physician referred me to Dr. Kase. I figured I had nothing to lose and didn't expect much. During the first exam, Dr. Kase, after a thorough exam, taped a small cotton pad to the bottom of my foot behind the ball of my big toe and said to walk around. I was blown away on the first step -- for the first time in years there was hardly any pain and my gait was improved. Over the course of about four months and six office visits which involved various tweaks and adjustments (trial and errors), Dr. Kase recommended orthotics. He was up front and said my foot would never be perfect but would be much improved. I researched orthotics and found that some swear by it and others think it to be snake oil. I decided to trust Dr. Kase's opinion and go the orthotics route -- I am very happy I did, because, in my case, they have worked as advertised. Eight months have passed and what discomfort I have is marginal to what it was before. For me, Dr. Kase and Burbank Podiatry Associates did a great job. read more

Please be aware of this podiatry group. They completely screwed me 7 years ago when I went in for planters fasciitis. Dr. Kase said he would send me a topical solution. This $2,500 topical solution arrived days later from Louisiana. I didn't have to pay, but my insurance did. I'm sure he got a kick back from the insurance company. Topical solutions DO NOT HELP PLANTER FASCIITIS!!! Two other doctors confirmed this. Dr. Kase is a quack. What helped me was an insole and better shoes. Don't waste your time at this group. And if you can all see the waiting time is about an hour. This is what an unorganized doctor's office is. So be aware. They overcharge on most services. I first saw Dr. Franklin Kase on August 15 for a severe foot ulcer (non-diabetic). The staff at the reception area were friendly and efficient. I had quite a lengthy wait, but I felt I received excellent medical care from Dr. Kase on this initial visit and the subsequent three weekly visits, with my last visit/release to occur (hopefully) on 9/20/18. On my most recent visit of 9/6/18, Dr. Kase was very pleased with my progress and felt there had been 90% improvement/healing of my foot ulcer; I was quite elated upon hearing this good news!! Dr. Kase is very knowledgeable and confident AND very personable; it's a pleasure interacting with him and the staff. Lesley was my first contact at this facility and she was helpful, thoughtful, very friendly and efficient; however, all staff are competent and seemingly cross-trained to perform and/or assist in all duties/responsibilities of the office. I used to go here when this practice belonged to Dr. Kase. He was absolutely one of the best podiatrists and good human beings all around. He was one of the most patient people ever. He would take his time with each patient and often the wait was long but always worth it. I had a pretty bad case of Plantar fasciitis and he would wrap my feet to relieve the pain. Finally he decided to make me orthotics. I went in close to the end of the year when all my deductibles and co-payments were payed up and I knew the entire cost would be covered 100%. The doctor did the casts and told me the insurance company would be charged that day. Which is the way any doctor charges for any service. You have surgery, they charge that day. Pretty novel concept, right? After that we moved several hours drive away. I thought rather than drive so far, big mistake, I would go see someone nearby. I did and they had this fancy new machine, which took a laser print of your feet and then they made orthotics. Well they never were right even after a few alterations. I told them I didn't want them and to reimburse my insurance company which they did. I was then basically forced to drive the 2 1/2 hours to Burbank and see Dr. Kase. Sadly he was no longer there. I was told he had taken sick leave. I was told I would see Dr. Wang. Fine. He was no Dr. Kase. He cast my feet and again it was near the end of the year so I expected to pay nothing. The other thing I did not know was that Dr. Kase was terminally ill and had sold his practice to a corporation. Well that all went to hell right there. Now I was no longer a patient I was a number on a conveyer belt. Get them in and move them out. I had been sick for quite some time so when they called me to let me know the orthotics were ready I was not feeling good and I couldn't make the drive. By the time I got there they told me I had to pay for them. I told them that Dr. Kase always charged me when they were cast. They told me I was wrong that this is how it had always been. I was upset but I paid. I had to come back because again they did not fit and were super uncomfortable. Also they looked nothing like the ones Dr. Kase had made for me. His I had no issues with. I took them home, wore them and that was that. Dr. Wang added a small piece of foam and sent me home with another Dr. visit charge. I was in so much pain after wearing them that I didn't wear them after that. I found another doctor near where I live in Palm Desert, who funnily enough knew Dr. Kase well and told me about his condition, who is also older and a very kind gentle person and took the orthotics to him and he sent them off to be fixed. It took a few months but I have them now, all good. Cost $80 and the cost of finding another great podiatrist: priceless. I would certainly not recommend Upperline Health. I was referred to this office by my PCP within my insurance network for a case of plantars fasciitis which has finally been resolved. However, I am beyond frustrated with this office's complete inability to stay on schedule. I have had literally hours of my life wasted waiting in either the waiting or exam room to be seen, and am doing so again right now. I may actually have to leave and not have my appointment today because I have another appointment which I scheduled with more than a reasonable time in between. It's ridiculous. It has happened with every appointment I have had here. My time is valuable and, though my treatment has been successful, if I have to leave this appointment to make the next one without treatment I will be asking for a referral to another practice. read more

I have never written a bad review for anyone ever. I am the type of person that if I have a bad experience, I generally shrug it off. However, this time, I must speak my piece. I went to Dr. Kase on a recommendation, as I had been having severe pain in my right heel for months. I thought it was a simple case of plantar fascitis. However, examination revealed that I had a stress fracture. Dr. Kase recommended orthotics, but we had to wait for the stress fracture to heal. Dr. Kase was fine. I didn't really have a problem with him, per se. I was a cash patient, so each week, or thereabouts, I would come in, he'd wrap my foot, and I'd pay him. After about 2 weeks, when he realized it was fractured, I also paid for a boot and a driving boot. On that day, Dr. Kase told the staff not to charge me for the wrap, since the boots cost me in excess of $400. After about 2-3 months, the pain wasn't much better, and I figured out how to wrap my foot myself, so I simply stopped going. Instead, I got lucky and found an awesome athletic trainer, who through deep tissue work, broke up the scar tissue, alleviating the pain. Apparently the fracture was now healed, and I was on my way. He fixed in a few visits, what Dr. Kase could not. The real problem arose when after I'd been gone for about 6 months, I received a bill for $75 for his office. I called the office manager and told her I paid cash every time I was there, and I wanted to dispute this. She said she'd talk to the doctor and get back to me. Two weeks went by and nothing, so I called her back. I got the same song and dance. I waited again for her to talk to the doctor. Another few weeks went by and I called again. Still no resolution. I continued to get this bill in the mail. After that, I forgot about it. Then, about a month ago, I checked my credit report for some reason. Holy crap!!! Come to find out they put that charge on my credit report!! Dios mio!! Add to that the fact that someone in his office stole my identity, and I simply cannot recommend Dr. Kase, his office or his staff. read more

I had a appointment and it took a hour before I was called by a nurse,and that's after asking the receptionist how much longer.. I waiting another 25 minutes before a nurse came in and took temperature.Really! By now we are at 1:30 minutes and no doctor has even come to my room. Dr. Kase is fine doctor, straight forward and caring. He has helped me somewhat. The real and only complaint is with his office and their time management. On every trip there I've waited over 45 minutes in the exam room, I'm not counting the time in the waiting room. Today after an hour of waiting I just walked out and got my co-pay back. I needed to be at work and have never waited so long in any doctor's office before. As long as you bring a long book, don't have a job to go to, or like to entertain yourself by reading old magaiznes then you're good. My experience with Dr. Wang and his staff was stellar. Everyone was attentive. My medical history was taken in detail and Dr. Wang attended to me with respect and knowledgeable concern. I intend to keep this office as my go-to podiatry office. They're an excellent medical office. Having said this, I find the cost for custom orthotic inserts to be exorbitant. I'm sure they are wonderful inserts and will fit me comfortably and last for 2 years or more, but there's no reason on Earth they should cost $575.00. I'm sorry, but I think this is gouging. I'm a runner and was having problems with my Achilles tendon's and needed some new orthotics. Dr. Kase had a new set made for me and they are great. Best set I've ever had and this is my fourth pair. My Achiles pain is nearly gone and I'm back to running nearly pain free for the first time in almost a year, very happy! Dr Kase is a runner himself so I feel like he has a unique understanding of what makes us run, run hurt and not want to stop. He's a nice guy and I'll be back when I need to again. That's what I liked, what I don't like is the parking area is almost always nearly full and I've had to park on the street around the corner. Not a huge problem for me but if your hurting and walking is hard for you this could be a major issue. Both times I saw Dr. Kase I showed up right on time or a bit early and waited for over an hour before I saw him. I nearly walked out this last time.
