The hotel has been updated since our last stay (obviously) and was very enjoyable. Most of the rooms don't have a great view, but if you're out and about most days, you really don't need one. The beds are comfortable and have typical German bedding (with individual duvets). There was a writing desk in each room, clothes cabinet, and night stands. Plenty of room to spread out with your belongings and stay organized while traveling. The bathroom was very nice - open, light, and extremely clean. There was a rather large standing shower and well lit vanity. The hotel is three floors, and does have a tiny, slow elevator. If you don't need to take it, I wouldn't, but if you have heavy luggage or have trouble doing stairs, it'll do the job just fine. There is a parking lot on site, which we used. The spots are fairly tight, but we were able to get in and out fine. The hotel is on a one way street, so depending on your approach, don't miss where you pull into the lot! Breakfast was wonderful. There was a great spread of meats, cheeses, yogurts, eggs, rolls, fruit, etc. all typical at a German breakfast. It was a nice treat to also have smoked salmon, which doesn't normally appear on the breakfast buffets. We dined in the hotel restaurant on the second evening and wish we'd eaten here our first night as well. The menu is small and less traditionally German. During dinner, I was feeling under the weather and our server was so helpful, taking my entree back to the kitchen to keep warm while I went up to my room for medicine and to lay down for a minute. When I rejoined my family, they offered to have the chef make whatever I wanted, whether it was on the menu or not, if that would help. I kept with my original dish, a fish entree, and it was absolutely incredible. Our party enjoyed having Rudesheimer coffees for dessert (a must!), and the waitress explained all of the steps as she was making them. The location is within walking distance from the river and across the road from a nice little wine shop (Georg Breuer). The front desk was helpful for directing us on other things to do while in the area. On our departure, we needed to contact a place in Köln and the owner was great about calling for us and translating everything! I can't say enough about the wonderful service we had. If you're looking for a place to stay at in the Rhein region, look no further!

Fantastic Hotel. Really Made our trip. My Fiancee and I Stayed only overnight but What a great…read moreplace. Not having a lot of money the Owner (Whom which was VERY friendly) gave is a great amount of stuff to do and maybe we only spent 15-20 Euro's. This included the Skyride and a Ride down the River. You get what you pay for. You are right on the railroad and you can except to hear freight trains…read morepassing through at all hours of the night. The place is small and ran small too. The outside area closes up around 8 at night. The chairs and tables are locked together where you are unable to sit and enjoy the Rhine. This was one of the negatives. As a party of 6, in 3 separate rooms we like to sit together and enjoy wine and small talk. This wasn't possible. We had problems with the toilet flushing, we expressed that and nothing was done. At one point I had to wait and use one of our other parties bathrooms because the toilet in my room wouldn't flush at all. Breakfast is small and simple. Nothing wrong with it, just simple. I wouldn't stay here again, but, everyone is different.

This is the type of hotel where they do not give you a fork at the breakfast table…read more Other important details are: only showers in the rooms and the rooms are kept stuffy warm. However, my bed slept wonderful (though Friday night was a bit noisy and I had to keep the window open, because of the oppressive heating). Breakfast is rather typical and large to suit the tastes: different small loaves of good German bread with 5 types of meats and 3 different types of cheeses, cucumber and tomatoes, 4 cereals, fruit from a can combined with fresh apples, grapes and strawberries, different yogurts, muesli, 2 different types of (very sweet) juices, milk, medium cooked eggs. On Saturday morning I found freshly baked croissants: nice difference. Sunday breakfast was cute, they had added some cupcakes as sweets and (April time!) colored Easter eggs were present. The staff very kindly offered me another (much larger) room, but it was even more heated, so I stayed in my 'Komfort Einzel' which was sufficient space and asked them to turn off the heat and leave the window open. This hotel is better when the weather is cold outside if you like to sleep cold. And I have many suggestions for management on how to make this hotel at least a Three Star Yelp rating!

We stayed in room 2, overlooking the courtyard, which is a comfort (extra sitting area) room. Bathroom was huge by Germany standards and had a heated towel rack. Morning breakfast is good and served right to your table. Christian was super nice and even offered to help carry my super heavy bag up the stairs.

This was not a buffet, but breakfast served at your table. Very close to all kinds of restaurants and shopping. My only complaint was that in the 24 hours that we were there, I killed 4 bugs. One was a giant spider that my husband wouldn't even kill :-). I know that these things can't always be controlled but FOUR? Still, I would probably stay there again. Honestly, the bugs were the only thing that cost the 5th star; I really liked this place!
